Abstract

Character education strengthening (CES) is a key factor in shaping children's personalities. Besides at home, character education should also be implemented in schools and social environments. In an effort to prepare the golden generation of 2045, the government is strengthening the character of the younger generation to have an advantage in the 21st-century global competition. This activity aims to instill character education during the Covid-19 pandemic by increasing the learning spirit, even though learning is done online and from home to avoid crowds. The method of implementing this activity is through participatory community empowerment using the participatory rural appraisal (PRA) model. Some of the achievements of this community service include: 1) outdoor activities or nature contemplation; 2) learning at TPA and Quran recitation to increase devotion to Allah SWT; 3) educational games outside the classroom to enhance nationalism and teamwork; 4) exploring students' potential and recognizing their intelligence through creativity contests; and 5) student learning motivation.

The aim of this community service activity is to enhance public awareness about colorectal cancer to minimize its impact. Conducted at the Muhammadiyah Health Care Center (MHCC) Clinic, this service employed lectures and discussions to educate the public on colorectal cancer prevention. The results indicate an increase in public knowledge regarding colorectal cancer, with a percentage of 27.5% falling into the "good" category before receiving educational intervention. Abstract

Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) often go undetected in their early stages due to a lack of evident symptoms or complaints. Among various NCDs, hypertension and diabetes mellitus are two of the most prevalent, closely linked to a range of health issues in older adults. To address this concern, this community service initiative aimed to conduct screening and provide education on NCDs as an initial step in early detection of health problems among the elderly. The implementation method involved health education and screenings, engaging midwives, village officials, and Aisyiyah health cadres. Screening results revealed that 71.43% of elderly individuals had hypertension, 34.39% were diagnosed with hyperglycemia, and 34.43% had blood sugar levels exceeding 200 mg/dl. Elderly individuals diagnosed with hypertension, diabetes mellitus, or at high risk for other NCDs were advised to seek further checkups and examinations at nearby healthcare facilities.

This community service initiative aimed to enhance knowledge, awareness, and promote healthy lifestyle habits among children in Dusun Pakelan, Desa Sumberarum, Moyudan, Sleman, DIY. The implementation method involved five stages: education and practice of Healthy Lifestyle and Behavior (PHBS), counseling and practice of oral health (KESGILUT), distribution of free toothbrushes and toothpaste, and group exercise. The outcomes revealed a 15.17% improvement in children's knowledge, awareness, and skills regarding oral cavity hygiene. Healthy lifestyle behaviors also witnessed an improvement, with an 8.95% increase in knowledge.

Abstract

Low Back Pain (LBP) sufferers often experience sharp pain triggered by certain postures or movements, which improves after rest and worsens after activity. Signs of inflammation such as heat, discoloration, or swelling are rarely observed. The aim of this activity is to provide appropriate education on treatment to prevent increased pain and changes in posture due to LBP, by offering Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) Treatment and William flexion exercises. This activity employs various approaches, including Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and distribution of leaflets on the role of physiotherapy in LBP education and prevention, as well as educational interventions on neuromuscular taping application and William flexion exercises. This activity yields significant benefits for the health and well-being of LBP sufferers, evidenced by a substantial reduction in pain (p<0.001), with a mean VAS score decreasing from 6.93 ± 0.73 before treatment to 4.07 ± 0.83 after treatment.

Abstract

Stunting is a growth and development disorder in children caused by a lack of nutritional intake in the first 1000 days of life (HPK). It is a national issue requiring special attention from the government because stunting can hinder human resource potential and is linked to the health level of an area. Therefore, preventing stunting becomes a shared responsibility, with Posyandu cadres, as community representatives, playing an important role in implementing effective interventions to reduce stunting rates. This activity aims to broaden the insight of Posyandu cadres. Through this effort, it is hoped that Posyandu services will improve, leading to a reduction in stunting rates. The activity utilized the lecture and question-and-answer method. As a result, the average knowledge of Posyandu cadres increased from 42% to 100%.
