Abstract

Writing scientific papers for junior high school teachers is very necessary, especially how to compose the introduction, review, theory, results and discussion, and conclusions in an easy and applicable way. This activity uses two complementary mentoring methods, namely workshops and assistancing for 15 teachers from four schools in Gresik and Lamongan Regencies. The result of the program shows encouraging and positive gains. 81.8% of participants had a positive perception of the domains of preliminary preparation, theory review, presentation of results, discussion, and conclusion. The result of the interview confirms that the introduction and presentation of the results are parts that are easy to master. However, the review of theory and research methods are difficult part to master. This is because teachers often experience difficulties in integrating theoretical thinking into practical thinking. This assistance seeks to help teachers solve learning problems through a combination of theoretical and practical, and written communication skills in the form of scientific articles.

The catering operation at the Aisyiyah Sidoarjo Orphanage generates about 5-7 kg of organic waste each day. The orphanage does not currently have a waste segregation site, which means that waste is mixed together and wrapped in plastic, which is obviously bad for the environment. In order to maintain cleanliness and environmental health and to improve the orphanage's economy by using Eco Enzyme fluids, the community service's objective is to give orphanage children early training in the processing of organic waste into Eco Enzyme. The method is through lectures and the practice of making eco enzymes. This program produces Eco Enzyme and its fermentation, which can be used to make liquid plant fertilizer, treat burns and itching, clean bathrooms and floors, and dish soap-and-liquid bath soap blend.

The community service approach entails preparation, counseling, and training in how to make decorative candles. The majority of participants used cooking oil more than 15 times in a month and 1-3 times the same cooking oil, according to the program's results. Additionally, there has been a shift in behavior regarding the color-based feasibility limit for used cooking oil, a decline in the number of people who throw used cooking oil down the drain, and increased motivation to recycle used cooking oil into decorative candles that can be sold. From the outcomes of this program, it can be inferred that the residents responded favorably to training on how to make decorative candles from used cooking oil.
