MUQODDIMA Jurnal Pemikiran dan Riset Sosiologi merupakan jurnal ilmiah yang diterbitkan oleh Laboratorium Sosiologi, Program Studi Sosiologi, Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Indonesia (UNUSIA). Jurnal ini terbit mulai Juni 2020, selanjutnya Desember pada tahun yang sama. Demikian pula untuk tahun-tahun seterusnya. Penerbitan MUQODDIMA Jurnal Pemikiran dan Riset Sosiologi dilandasi pandangan bahwa sesungguhnya masyarakat terus bergerak dan berubah secara dinamis. Cara pandang manusia (atas diri, orang lain, masyarakat serta satuan sosial lainnya, dan semesta) terus berubah, beriringan dengan perubahan pola-pola kehidupan secara umum. Di dalam pandangan kami perubahan sosial bukan semata-mata diletakkan hanya sebagai kategori konseptual-analitis, melainkan juga sebagai gejala faktual. Perubahan berlangsung secara dinamis, tampak dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, meliputi setiap domain kehidupan (sosial, kebudayaan, politik, lingkungan hidup, dan ekonomi) yang saling pengaruh-mempengaruhi satu dengan yang lain. Namun demikian, ini bukan berarti bahwa pola-pola yang bersifat ajek dalam kehidupan sosial diabaikan atau dinafikan dari pandangan kami. Keajekan, yang tetap, atau yang teratur justru penting serta harus dikuak dan dipahami, yakni dalam relasi dinamisnya dengan perubahan. Meletakkan perubahan sosial dengan cara seperti itu kami maksudkan untuk menyatakan bahwa cara kita memandang, mengerti, dan menerima perubahan harus dikembangkan, dan cara kita memandang apa yang (dianggap) tetap juga harus terus-menerus diperbarui. Di dalamnya, ini berarti bahwa setiap atau beberapa gejala sosial di level apa pun (mikroskopik-makroskopik, atau di antaranya) sudah seharusnya mendapat perhatian untuk dimengerti lebih jauh. Tujuannya bukan semata-mata untuk mendapatkan pengertian atau pemahaman atas perubahan itu sendiri, melainkan demi mencapai pengertian yang lebih baik atas kondisi diri-kemanusiaan dan masyarakat/umat manusia secara umum -- kendati pengertian yang lebih baik itu pun bersifat sementara. Apa yang kami tuangkan di atas adalah beberapa di antara berbagai sesuatu yang melatarbelakangi penerbitan MUQODDIMA Jurnal Pemikiran dan Riset Sosiologi. Dalam semangat tersebut, penerbitan jurnal ini dimaksudkan sebagai pembuka bagi diskusi dan dialog ilmiah antar akademisi, aktivis sosial-kemanusiaan, serta para pelaku kebudayaan mengenai kondisi kemanusiaan kita dalam arus perubahan, khususnya dalam konteks Indonesia. Semoga MUQODDIMA Jurnal Pemikiran dan Riset Sosiologi panjang umur, istikamah, berguna dan bermanfaat bagi komunitas akademik dan masyarakat seluruhnya.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the concept of education in surah Al-Baqarah verse 30 towards the objectives of Islamic education in the digital era from the perspective of M Quraish Shihab. This research was conducted using a library research approach, which collects data through books, scientific articles, journals, and written sources that aim to obtain in-depth analysis related to research studies. The results showed that the concept of the Qur'an Surah Al-Baqarah verse 30 in the perspective of M. Quraish Shihab emphasizes fostering humans personally and in groups so that they are able to carry out their functions as servants and caliphs who emphasize human responsibility as representatives of Allah on earth, forming the goals of Islamic education that develops moral character, social responsibility, intellectual competence. Islamic education must integrate spiritual values with the development of science and technology to prepare students who are able to become leaders who contribute positively to society.

Abstract

The increasing use of social media among the younger generation has become a major concern in the context of character development and religious values. This article aims to investigate the potential and effectiveness of utilizing social media platforms as a tool that can strengthen the religious character of the younger generation in the digital era by the Shift Pemuda Hijrah community. This research method is based on a qualitative approach, with data collection using in-depth interviews, participant observation, and social media content analysis. The results of the study indicate that social media can be optimized for strengthening religious character by the Shift Pemuda Hijrah community. Social media can be an agent for forming the religious character of the younger generation if used wisely, creatively, and responsibly. Religious character that is strengthened through digital space will provide a strong foundation for the younger generation to face global challenges, without losing the values ​​of faith and nationality.

Abstract

Introverted personality is often misunderstood as a weakness in social abilities. However, adolescents with this personality type possess great potential in self-reflection, emotional intelligence, and academic achievement. This study aims to analyze the psychological impact of an introverted personality on adolescent self-development, particularly in the context of Madrasah Aliyah KHAS Kempek. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, involving in-depth interviews and observations of several female students with introverted tendencies. The findings indicate that introverted individuals face challenges in social interactions and self-confidence, yet excel in self-regulation, perseverance in learning, and critical thinking skills. This study underscores the need for more responsive and inclusive educational strategies that cater to the characteristics of introverted personalities to help maximize their potential.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the social construction of gender roles in professional kitchens, specifically in Solaria Restaurant, Royal Plaza Surabaya. In the workplace, the division of roles based on gender is often influenced by ingrained social norms and values. This phenomenon is evident in the culinary industry, where men often occupy strategic roles as head chefs, while women are relegated to supportive positions. Using a qualitative approach, this study employs Berger & Luckmann’s (1966) social construction theory and Judith Butler’s (1990) theory of gender performativity. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with male and female chefs and kitchen managers, as well as participatory observations in the restaurant's kitchen. The findings reveal that social construction significantly influences task allocation in Solaria‟s kitchen. Male chefs are often entrusted with strategic responsibilities requiring decision-making, whereas female chefs are assigned ‘lighter’ tasks. These gender stereotypes reflect deep-rooted structural biases in the professional kitchen culture. Moreover, workplace dynamics show a gender hierarchy where male chefs wield greater authority in workplace interactions. This study recommends that restaurant management eliminate gender bias in task allocation through skill-oriented assessments. Such measures are expected to create a fairer and more inclusive work environment.

Abstract

Dominant perspectives in modern science assume that scientific knowledge is ideally value-free and neutral. This claim is problematic as it overlooks the fact that science is a social practice carried out by knowers—embodied, context-bound, and value-laden beings. This article, through the lens of critical realism and personalism, offers an alternative framework that understands science as a value-laden activity without abandoning its commitment to objective reality. A philosophical analysis, combined with two historical case studies—Imam al-Shafi‘i’s revision of Islamic jurisprudence and Copernicus’ scientific revolution—yields three main findings. First, scientific knowledge is fallible, as it is rooted in the limitations of human conditions. Second, scientific objectivity is achieved not by eliminating values, but through critical reflection on the positionality of values within scientific communities. Third, a fully humanized science is more capable of generating transformative and responsible knowledge. These findings offer important implications for epistemology, education, and contemporary scientific practice, particularly in rethinking the relationship between reality, values, and the knowing subject.

Abstract

The high divorce rate in Indonesia is often attributed to individuals’ lack of readiness to build a marital life. This study aimed to adapt the Marriage Readiness Questionnaire (MRQ) into Indonesian and assess its validity and reliability using the Rasch Model approach. The participants consisted of 192 unmarried men and women aged 18–40, selected through purposive sampling. The adaptation process followed the International Test Commission guidelines, including translation, back translation, expert review, and readability testing. The results indicate that the marriage readiness scale has excellent psychometric properties, with a Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.86, item reliability of 0.98, and person reliability of 0.81. Unidimensionality analysis confirmed that the scale measures a single psychological caonstruct. Of the 38 items tested, 35 were considered valid, while 3 require revision. Additionally, two items showed gender bias and should be refined in future research. These findings suggest that the adapted scale is a reliable and valid tool for assessing marriage readiness among Indonesians

Abstract

This study examines the Ramadhan scholarly tradition at Pondok Pesantren Madinatul Ulum Al-Irsyadiyah in Cibeuteung Udik, Ciseeng, Bogor Regency. Employing a historical anthropological and descriptive-analytical approach, it aims to uncover and document the evolution and practices of Islamic scholarship during the holy month of Ramadhan in this pesantren. The research focuses on the crucial role of Kyai Abdul Hadi in establishing and developing the pesantren, and the leadership transition to Gus Farid following Kyai Abdul Hadi's passing in 2020. Findings reveal that the Ramadhan scholarly tradition includes kitab study, Qur'anic recitation, and Arabic grammar instruction, with distinct curricula for male and female students. A unique aspect is the involvement of three main teachers—Gus Farid, Ustadz Hayat, and Ustadz Syahidin—each bringing diverse educational backgrounds, enriching the students' learning experience. This study provides a detailed picture of the scholarly dynamics in the pesantren during Ramadhan, including teaching methods, studied materials, and students' responses to this tradition. It contributes significantly to our understanding of the role of pesantren in preserving and developing Islamic scholarly traditions in Indonesia, particularly during Ramadhan.

Abstract

In general, poverty is a very complex problem, because it is not only related to the problem of low fulfillment of daily living needs, low people's income but also helplessness from economic, social, cultural and political aspects. Various efforts have been made by the government, both the New Order regime government and the Reformation Era government, to tackle poverty, using various approaches, such as a top down approach and a bottom up approach, as well as formulating various program policies, both social assistance programs and empowerment-based programs. Abstract

Semarang City is where the pluralist Islamic teachings of two leading religious organizations in Indonesia, Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), grow with their ideologies. What are the differences in interpreting social behaviour and the lifestyle of Muhammadiyah and NU youth in Semarang? The study used a qualitative phenomenological approach. According to Husserl (Creswell, 2009), phenomenological researchers reveal the basic meaning of invariant experiences and pressure on the intensity of consciousness. The study results show that the social interpretation of Muhammadiyah and NU youth regarding differences in social behaviour is correct and becomes a reference in everyday life. Differences in understanding of Fiqh between Muhammadiyah and NU youth are not obstacles to uniting society. NU youth can clash with NU youth, and Muhammadiyah youth can clash with Muhammadiyah youth because of differences in lifestyle.

Abstract

Perkembangan gerakan pramuka yang berawal dari gerakan kepanduan di Indonesia tidak lepas dari kebijakan pemerintah era Soekarno yaitu Manifesto Politik, UUD 1945, Sosialisme Indonesia, Demokrasi Terpimpin, dan Kepribadian Indonesia atau biasa disingkat Manipol Usdek. sebuah gagasan besar Soekarno dalam mewujudkan Indonesia yang adil dan makmur dengan kepribadian yang berakar pada nilai-nilai luhur pancasila.. Gerakan Kepanduan sejak lama membantu dalam penguatan identitas nasional Indonesia dan mendorong integrasi nasional. seharusnya produk kebijakan pemerintah hari ini dapat menjadi pendukung upaya institusionalisasi rasa nasionalisme melalui gerakan pramuka hari ini. penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan melakukan studi pustaka.
