Abstract

Stunting remains a serious health problem as it is associated with an increased risk of morbidity and mortality in children under five. Based on the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (IHS), the prevalence of stunting in Pontianak City reached 16.7%, which still exceeds the national target. Specific interventions are needed to address this issue, especially parenting-related ones. The role of fathers in parenting is very important to improve toddlers' health status and support children's optimal growth and development. This study evaluates the effect of "PENTING" education on improving fathers' parenting role in stunting prevention. The research design was a quasi-experiment, with a sample of 30 toddlers and mothers from families at risk of stunting selected by purposive sampling. The research was conducted in Kampung KB Lembah Murai, Pontianak City. The educational intervention was conducted six times using the flip sheet media, with data measurement before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests. The results showed a significant increase in the role of parenting by fathers after the intervention. This finding suggests that the "PENTING" educational program effectively strengthens fathers' role as part of stunting prevention efforts.

Abstract

Indonesia faces the challenge of a double burden of disease, where the prevalence of non-communicable diseases is increasing while communicable diseases remain high. In toddlers, this double burden includes the incidence of Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) and nutritional problems, which are the main problems in Nii Tanasa Village, Konawe District. This study aims to analyze the relationship of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) indicators to the risk of double burden disease in toddlers in the region. This research design is a Cross-Sectional study with a population and sample of 43 toddlers. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square and Fisher Exact tests. The results of the analysis showed a significant relationship between family smoking behavior (p-value=0.015), exclusive breastfeeding (p-value=0.000), toddlers not weighed at the posyandu/health center (p-value=0.000), and main water facilities (p-value=0.000) with the incidence of double burden disease in toddlers. However, fruit and vegetable consumption did not show a significant association (p-value=0.330). This study confirms that specific PHBS indicators, such as smoking behavior, exclusive breastfeeding, and primary water facilities, are associated with the incidence of double-burden disease in toddlers. Therefore, the community needs to increase the implementation of PHBS to reduce health risks among toddlers in Nii Tanasa Village.

Abstract

The stunting prevalence in Southeast Sulawesi reached 27.7% in 2022, and 21.5% of children were stunted in 2023, based on the Indonesian health survey. Reducing stunting requires targeted assistance to families at risk, including pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children aged 0-59 months. This study aimed to assess mothers' nutritional status and dietary patterns in families at risk of stunting in Punggaloba and Dapu-Dapura Villages, West Kendari District, Kendari City, in 2024. Using an observational descriptive survey, 110 mothers were selected through random sampling. The results revealed that 2.7% of participants were undernourished, 69.1% had normal nutritional status, and 28.2% were obese. While 71.8% demonstrated good meal frequency, dietary quality was generally poor, marked by insufficient macro- and micronutrient intake, and 65.5% lacked dietary diversity. Nutritional status was categorized as usual, but dietary patterns remained suboptimal. Improved dietary practices are recommended to meet nutritional needs effectively.

Abstract

Cystic lesions with loculi lined with mucin-producing epithelium are mucinous ovarian tumors. Approximately 10% of these are borderline tumors. These cysts are commonly found in 30-50 year olds. Ovarian cysts exceeding 10 cm in diameter are called giant ovarian tumors. This study aims to present a case of Giant Borderline Mucinous Cystadenoma in a multiparous woman. Report a case of a 38-year-old woman P3A0 presenting with an enlarged abdomen for approximately 1 year and tightness 1-month SMRS, which was later diagnosed as Giant Borderline Mucinous Cystadenoma. Mucinous cystadenoma has the potential to grow into a large mass and rarely goes undiagnosed until it becomes a giant ovarian cyst (>10 cm). Total Abdominal Hysterectomy, Salpingo Oophorectomy Sinistra, right salpingectomy, right partial oophorectomy, ascitic fluid aspiration, left pelvic lymphadenectomy, and omentectomy were performed. Transabdominal Ultrasound showed a mixechoic image of the adnexa with a size of 23.2 cm x 15.9cm x 27 cm with a volume of 5265 cc. PA result showed borderline cystadenoma mucinous. The therapeutic strategy was guided by FIGO classification, age, and the patient's desire to have children. Early recognition and management are crucial to prevent disease progression and reaching giant tumor size.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that affects the growth and development of children. The results of community diagnostics that have been carried out from January to February 2025 in Sungai Landas Village show data that 30% of children aged 0-60 months are stunted. This study aims to analyze the relationship between employment status, income, and parental education on the incidence of stunting in Sungai Landas Village, Karang Intan District, Banjar Regency. This study used a cross-sectional design with a sample of 30 respondents from Sungai Landas Village who have children aged 0-60 months. Data were collected through questionnaires and anthropometric measurements and then analyzed using Fisher's exact test with a 95% confidence level. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between parents' employment status (p=0.329) and parents' income (p=1.0). There was a significant relationship between parents' education level (p=0.030) and the incidence of stunting. Parental education plays an important role in understanding nutrition, which affects parenting and children's food intake. Therefore, increasing community-based nutrition education, especially for parents, needs to be the focus of stunting prevention efforts.

Abstract

Eating a variety of foods is very important to prevent nutritional deficiencies, especially micronutrients. Low dietary diversity results in vulnerability to nutritional deficiencies. Malnutrition in pregnancy can adversely affect the mother and fetus. This study aims to evaluate the adequacy of dietary diversity and food group consumption patterns of pregnant women in the Lambai Health Centre working area. This type of research is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. This study was conducted from November to December 2024 in the working area of Lambai Health Centre, Lambai District, North Kolaka. The sampling technique in this study used total sampling so that the sample size was 47 pregnant women. The level of dietary diversity was evaluated using the Minimum Dietary Diversity for Women (MDD-W) with the criteria of consuming at least five food groups categorized as adequate. The results showed that the majority of pregnant women met the MDD-W criteria (93.6%), and only 6.4% had inadequate dietary diversity. The most consumed food groups were staple foods (100%), namely carbohydrate sources of cereals, tubers, and bananas, meat (95.7%), and green leafy vegetables (93.6%). However, there was no consumption of nuts and seeds. This suggests the need for nutrition education regarding the importance of food variety to support adequate micronutrients during pregnancy.

Abstract

Adolescent alcohol consumption is an important and complex issue as it not only impacts health but also fuels risky sex, violence, and drug use. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and peer conformity on alcohol consumption behavior among adolescents in Jayapura City. This type of research uses quantitative methods with a Cross-Sectional Study design. The total population was 2552 male students in 5 junior high schools and five high schools in Jayapura City, and the sample calculation obtained 343 respondents. The sampling technique used proportional stratified random sampling and primary data collection using a questionnaire. Statistical analysis using the Spearman Correlation Test. The results of the analysis were obtained from 343 adolescents; most respondents had knowledge in the good category, namely 200 respondents (58.3%), and as many as 273 respondents (79.6%) in the category of peer conformity, the majority of which were in the moderate category. The correlation test results of the relationship between knowledge factors and alcohol-drinking behavior in adolescents obtained a p-value of 0.032 with a value of r = 0.116. So, it means that there is a relationship between knowledge and adolescent drinking behavior, but the strength of the relationship is very weak, with a negative correlation. As for the peer conformity variable, the p-value is 0.227, meaning that there is no significant relationship between peer conformity and adolescent drinking behavior. Health agencies are advised to strengthen the PIK-R program in schools to prevent adolescent alcohol consumption.

Abstract

This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with the aim of evaluating the implementation of the Hospital Health Promotion Programme (PKRS) at RSUD Jenderal Ahmad Yani Metro City in 2024. The research sample consisted of 8 informants selected using purposive sampling technique, which included 1 Head of PKRS Installation, 3 medical staff, and 4 patients. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation. Analysis was conducted using a thematic analysis approach. The results showed that the implementation of the Hospital Health Promotion Programme (PKRS) at RSUD Jenderal Ahmad Yani Metro City still faces obstacles, such as the lack of structured training for medical and non-medical staff, the non-integration of the PKRS programme in all hospital service lines, and the absence of structured ongoing evaluation. Strengthening the use of educational media, coordination between departments, and increasing the budget to support CSE activities are also needed. It is expected to improve service quality, reduce nosocomial infection rates, and strengthen public awareness of the importance of Clean and Healthy Living Behaviour (PHBS) in providing superior health services.
