Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the strategies undertaken by some shipping companies and shipyard companies to survive and win the competition and through difficult conditions. The research method used is qualitative research with case study approach from some shipping and shipyard companies and with combination of SWOT method and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) as decision making technique. The findings of the study suggest that all firms are defensive in to maintain their existence up today. AHP analysis shows significant factors to the development of shipyard business is Strength factor by 36.7% and Work Quality factor (20.8%) which is a very important factor compared to other factors. The priority of strategy making according to SWOT analysis is WT strategy (3.84 points) whereas according to AHP it is WO strategy (87.35 points) but both are strategies to minimize weakness.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the priority of improving the implementation of Air Facilitation (FAL) activities at CIQ (Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine) at Juanda International Airport, Surabaya. The analytical method uses AHP (Analytic Heirarchy Process) analysis. Data obtained through interviews with 5 (five) experts and questionnaires to 10 (ten) people consisting of 5 (five) experts and 5 (five) CIQ (Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine) officers at Surabaya International Airport. The results showed that the Air Facilitation (FAL) activities in the CIQ Section of Juanda International Airport in Surabaya had been going well, but specifically considering the limited space / place in the terminal, the implementation of the Facilitation function (FAL) at the Airport still need to be further improved. The results of  the analysis process by AHP analysis based on data processing with expert choice software weighting on the customs sub-criteria (customs) contained in the departure facilitation at T1 (service and monitoring posts are too narrow and TPS is not available and the area for K-9 placement), Swallow Toilet and control room.

Abstract

The research objective is to determine the impact of relationship management with land transportation service providers to the performance of the port with a mediation service that adds value to the PT. Indonesia Vehicle Terminal (IKT), Tanjung Priok, Jakarta. The study uses a quantitative approach to associative and the data processed by the program LISREL 8.8. The sample was 100 of service users with quota sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistical path analysis. The results show: relationship management with providers of land transportation services have a direct positive impact and significant to the performance of the port, services that provide added value affect prositive direct impact and significant to the performance of the port, the relationship management with providers of land transportation services have a positive direct impact and significant to the service that provides value added, and the relationship management with providers of land transportation services have positive indirect impact and significant to the performance of the port with a mediation service that adds value. The conclusion is relationship management with providers of land transportation services has an impact on the performance of the port with a mediation service that adds value, therefore performance can be improved through the port relationship management with providers of land transportation services and services that provide added value.

Abstract

This study aimed at analyzing the role of pioneer aviation in developing the economy of Karimunjawa Island. Survey was used as the research method. The population was taken from the community living in Karimunjawa Island, Jepara, Central Java and used 35 citizens as total sampling. The result shows that there is a significant role of pioneer aviation in connecting the economy of Karimunjawa Island. The score of t-count of variable X (pioneer aviation) affects the economy of the outer island (variable Y). The score of R-square is 0.661 which means the role of pioneer aviation has 66.1 % of the outer island while 33.9 % affects the factors that are not examined such as service, ticket price, aircraft capability, society income ability, airport facility, and others. Abstract

Car drivers in Indonesia will always face many kinds of risks. This research contains the context determination of this research, identifies all the significant risks, measures the frequency and impact of all the risks, draws all the identified risks in the chart, and describes how to manage or mitigate the risks. The dangerous risks which have high frequency and high impact are: 1) Many car drivers get the driving license without taking a driving course and without learning carefully the theory of driving a car; 2) Many car drivers get the driving license through illegal procedure; 3) Many car manufacturers eliminate some car safety equipment to lower the sales price; 4) The ingredients of the gasoline cannot fulfill/match the need of the car (e.g. RON number); 5) In some places the traffic is too crowded; 6) Many damaged roads may cause accidents; 7) Many roads and transportation modes cannot fulfill the demands of transportation. The recommendation (mitigation) for Risk Controlling is that all stakeholders (legislative, executive, judicative, manufacturers, people, car drivers, schools and universities, researchers,  etc)  should  obey  the  regulations,  moral,  ethics  for  car  riders.  It  is mandatory that every candidate of car driver take a course in a certified car driving ourse. Police should arrange a complete and comprehensive reference book for car driver candidates to get a driving license.

Abstract

The aim of the study is to measure the selection criteria of sub-contractor fly over construction project and to level the sub-contractors based on five criteria which are financial factor, practical factor, managerial, safety, and company’s image. The right sub-contractor as partner is the important factor for main contractor in building the fly over based on the schedule and the budget with good quality. The study was using ANP (analytic network process) to evaluate the criteria interrelation of main contractor when making decisions of uncertainty situation to be better. The subject of the study is the Tendean-Blok M-Cileduk fly over construction project. The result shows that sub-contractor A has the highest result of 0.4798, sub-contractor B with 0.3646 and the last is sub-contractor C with 0.1556.

Abstract

Survey methods are used to determine the effect of pricing policy implementation (X1), quality of service (X2), and customer loyalty (Y) on PT. Garuda Indonesia, for Jakarta-Surabaya route in 2014. With a population of 773 154 passengers and a sample of 400 respondents, the data is obtained through questionnaires using Likert scale. With a simple and multiple linear regression analyses, simple and partial correlation, with significance level at α = 0.05, it was found that, first, there is a positive relationship between pricing policy and customer loyalty. The variation that occurs in customer loyalty is determined by pricing policy. Secondly, there is a positive relationship between service quality and customer loyalty. The variation that occurs in customer loyalty is determined by service quality. Third, there is a positive influence of pricing policy and service quality on customer loyalty with the coefficient of determination ry1.22 = 0.354, so 35.4% variation happening to customer loyalty is determined simultaneously by pricing policy and service quality. The implication proves that customer loyalty can be enhanced by improving the pricing policy and service quality.

Abstract

The objective is to study the seaworthiness and crew’s competence with marine safety in PT Pulau laut year 2015. This research is quantitative research with correlation and regression methods are applied as data analysis technique to determine the relationship between each variables. The primary data were obtained from questioner which distributed to 73 ship’s crew of PT Pulau Laut using population sampling technique. The result of  this research shows that there is a positive and significant relationship between seaworthiness ship and crew competence with the safety of sea transport.  H3 research hypothesis is accepted where F count> F table or 86.179> 3.128 and the significance probability of 0.000 <0.05 . The R square value is 0,711 or 71,1%. It shows that the contributions of seaworthiness ship and crew competence to marine safety  are 71,1%  and  28,9%are influenced by other factors.
