Abstract

Purpose: In 2015, ASEAN economic community was formed to turn the area into a single market and a competitive superior production base to make the region prosperous and stable. The how to do that is through education and applying the appropriate curriculum for industry's needs. This study analyzed and elaborated the curriculum used in vocational schools, especially in countries around ASEAN Economic Community or AEC. Research methodology: This descriptive content analysis study method was done by implementing a literature review. This literature review was to review and analyze the curriculum used in vocational education around AEC in order to fulfill the standards of AEC industry's needs. Results: This study finds that curriculum for vocational schools around ASEAN Economic Community set priority in standard skills and soft skills. Limitations: This study is limited to vocational schools, especially around ASEAN Economic Community. Contribution: This study could be useful for vocational schools around South East Asia and researchers researching curriculum, especially in Asia. Keywords: AEC, Curriculum, Vocational education

Abstract

Purpose: This study analyzes the impact of teaching methods on Geography students’ performance in Zaria Local Government Area, Kaduna State, Nigeria. Six senior secondary schools: AlhudaHuda College, Barewa College, Government Secondary School Kofar Kibo, Government Girls Secondary School Kofar Gayan, Government Girls Secondary School Pada and Government Girls Secondary School, Kongo were sampled. Research methodology: 423 questionnaires were administered to respondents. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics using SPSS version 23 were used to analyze the data. Results: The results revealed that the demonstration method of teaching was the most used by teachers ahead of others (44.6%). The results also revealed that 28.3% of the students who responded say they did not know the teachers’ actual method in teaching them. Limitations: The study used not only Geography teachers as respondents, but also other subjects related to Geography. Additionally, the study covered only Zaria Local Government Secondary Schools. It can be done with only Geography teachers’ respondents in a larger scope like a state or even a country. Contribution: The study will help the Ministry of Education responsible for secondary education and all stakeholders to understand the reality of state of Secondary Education in the study area to address the problems. Abstract

Purpose: This research aimed to apply log-linear modelling to model association between multiple response categorical variables (MRCV) on urban agriculture and enhance data analysis of the paper by Basera, Chakaipa, & Dube (2020) impetus of urban agriculture on open spaces of Mutare City. Research methodology: The research data was obtained from households and farmers in Mutare City - urban and peri-urban (inclusive of plots in Weirmouth Park and Fern Valley area in December 2020. A total of one hundred and fifteen (115) household farmers were surveyed. Results: Simultaneous Pairwise Marginal Independence (SPMI) tests revealed the presence of associations. Log-linear tests revealed a perfect fit based on small standardized Pearson residuals and a strong positive association based on observed and model-predicted odds ratios on-field agricultural activities and use of herbicides. Log-linear and further application of heterogeneity tests revealed partial and near no perfect fit in other pairs of MRCVs with a strong negative association between municipality vacant places and field agricultural activities. Limitations: The research could not carry out log-linear model associations of three or more MRCVs because files exceeded 2GB in memory on both MI.test () function for SPMI tests and genloglin regressions. Contribution: The study contributes to urban agriculture planning especially in enactment of urban agriculture laws, agriculture one stop shop business centers housing farm input supply shops, farm produce shops, and determining fit support that can be rendered to urban farmers. Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to assess ways by which Gender Equality affects primary education in Mukono District Research methodology: This study is a case study that concentrates on a single institute to provide information that can be used in similar businesses to establish the effect of gender equality on primary school. A case study as the research design was preferred because it helps to measure the relationship among variables. A random sampling technique was applied in the study to produce more reliable results. Results: Results indicate that majority of pupils said that three pupils shared one text book. Also, schools only hire highly skilled teachers that a helping in the accessibility of gender equal skilled teachers that a helping in the primary education. Limitations: The study covered only one town council in one district local government and so the results may not be generalized across the country or region. Abstract

Purpose: The research has been conducted to investigate the influential factors on students’ mental health during the Covid-19. Research methodology: The research is quantitative in nature. The structured questionnaire has been prepared to collect the data from 250 Bangladeshi students through a personal interview method using a 7-point Likert scale. The research used the convenience sampling method to collect the data and data were analyzed through SPSS 25.0 software. Results: The research found that economic factors, social factors, and educational factors have a significant impact on the students’ mental health during the Covid-19 pandemic situation. Limitations: The study is limited by geographical and sample size in the aspect of students’ mental health during the pandemic situation. Contribution: All sorts of people will be benefited from this study obtaining a clear understanding and scenario about the students’ mental health during the pandemic situation. Educational institutions, teachers, psychologists, behavioral therapists, social researchers, politicians, legal agencies, and others that are engaged in the education sector will be fruitful by this study’s outputs. Governments and governmental agencies may plan and promote their strategies and policies by having a clear concept about students’ mental health during the Covid-19 pandemic. Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the socio-educational interactions between teachers and students. This article also looks at a literacy activity utilized by the teachers and students and their interaction patterns. Research methodology: This research applied a naturalistic approach and descriptive qualitative research design. The data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data then were analyzed descriptively using the Miles and Huberman analysis model, namely data condensation, data presentation, and concluding. Results: The research results show that to improve student literacy, there were two patterns of interaction: first, a one-way interaction pattern centered on the teacher as a facilitator, corrector, evaluator in literacy activities: second, a multi-directional interaction pattern occurred. Literacy activities aim to train the learners’ ability in reading, understanding and commenting. During the core activities, several aspects of the interactions occur between teachers and students, such as conveying information, explaining, motivating, and proposing to students. At the closing stage of literacy, several aspects of the interaction between teachers and students occur. Making summaries and reading about the literacy activities have provided directions for further literacy activities and conducting evaluations that have been carried out. Limitations: There are limitations to the researcher, so this research is limited to one school only with the object of research on all students and teachers assigned to literacy activities at SMA Negeri 1 Latambaga. Contribution: The study is expected to assist the schools in monitoring the literacy activities and developing student literacy, whereas, for students, this study is expected to improve their literacy and broaden their insights about technological and scientific developments.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the ideal quality of inclusive early childhood education, an effective leadership style and five practices of exemplary leadership. Research methodology: This is a review article. The review process began with a search engine (Google Scholar) to search and review early childhood education and leadership articles. Results: The results suggest that it is important to hold quality inclusive early childhood educations since, in this level of education, six developmental areas are well stimulated. The key success of maintaining quality inclusive early childhood education is a collaboration among education parties (government, school, parents and community). A school needs a principal who can perform five exemplary leadership practices to help “Golden Indonesia 2045” become true. Limitations: First, the scope of articles reviewed is still very limited to the literature review in the Indonesian context. This and other limitations will be opportunities for further empirical studies about five practices of exemplary leadership in the Indonesian education area. Contribution: This study can be useful for the early childhood education level.

Abstract

Purpose: The key purpose of the study is to understand the university students' perception of a sudden distance learning platform from Bangladesh (a least developed countries' perspective). Research methodology: This particular study has employed a qualitative research method with the support of interview and observation methods. The study has selected 20 University students as a sample size based on purposive sampling. Results: The findings provide a vivid outline of the current situation of the universities- that the students have- over the influence of distance learning on education, technology, their university, course instructors, and themselves. Limitations: The data was qualitative in nature and the study only interviewed the university students but not the other stakeholders of that system; in addition, the study did not triangulate the data with more quantitative data. Contribution: The study makes an important contribution to the literature on the least developed countries' university education, which will benefit Higher Education institutions that are also struggling with the prospects and obstacles of distance learning during and in the post-Covid-19 crisis.

Abstract

Purpose: Road accident has been claiming lives and no amount of research will be enough to expose the causes and dangers. This study appraises the causes and analyses the variation of road accidents in the Kaduna metropolis, intending to reduce it. Research methodology: The data used was obtained from Federal Road Safety Corps and complemented by the researchers’ field survey. Eight members of the research team went to the 24 bus stops identified each month rotationally. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were applied in the analysis. Results: There was a high correlation of mortality and road accident injuries as confirmed by r-value 0.7 using pearson product moment correlation. Accidents occur most in the morning and afternoon and the season with most accident occurrence was the dry season. The combination of over speeding and other factors were the major causes of road accidents. Limitations: The study used data published in 2016, although a follow-up data verification was conducted in 2017 and 2018. Therefore, the study is old and the results might have changed and might not necessarily be reliable. Contribution: Road accidents hot spots areas, causes, and patterns were exposed to guide the road users in order to avoid the accident. The study can also be replicated in other study areas with similar characteristics.

Abstract

Purpose: Successful integration of migrants in any society has a very vital impact on the wellbeing of migrants. The study therefore uses descriptive statistics to analyse the integrative challenges of internal migrants in the Tamale metropolis of Northern Ghana. Research methodology: The study adopted the mixed-method approach and non-probability sampling techniques to select 120 internal migrants for the study. Results: The results revealed that economic factors (46.7%) accounted for most reasons cited for migrating. Language barriers (24.2%) and higher cost of living (19.2%) were the most encountered challenges and a proportion of 10.8 per cent reported not having encountered any difficulty. Limitations: The study explored all forms of internal migration in the Metropolis. However, it failed to explore the occurrence of international migration given the growing influx of international migrants in the study area. Contribution: The outcome of the study will advance knowledge on the challenges faced by migrants within the Metropolis and measures could be taken to resolve some undesired experiences. Additionally, the study will make a valuable contribution to the limited migration literature in the North.
