Abstract

Higher education institutions in Indonesia are facing increasing competition. Service quality is determined by variables such as tangiblility, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. This research intends to investigate the gap in service quality between students’ perceptions and management at the State Polytechnic of Malang. This research uses primary data. Descriptive analysis is used to assess the level of service quality difference between the perceptions of the student and the perceptions of management. The result of this analysis is that the average value perceptions of consumers and students are smaller compared to the average value perceptions of management and service providers, which indicates that consumers remain dissatisfied with the quality of services offered by the institution. The results of this research can be used by management to identify the advantages and disadvantages of service quality and determine strategies that can meet the expectations of consumers and students.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the economic feasibility of the mining business plan proposed by CV. XYZ located in Golopongkor Village, Komodo District, West Manggarai Regency, with an operational production area of 4.27 Ha. The analysis was conducted using three main indicators, namely Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Payback Period (PBP) to assess the profitability and feasibility of the investment. The research results show that the positive NPV value of Rp1,130,299,085.00 indicates that the project is capable of providing economic benefits that exceed the initial investment value. The IRR value of 39% and the PBP of 0.7 years reflect a relatively quick capital recovery period. These values indicate that the mining project is economically feasible and provides significant financial benefits. The expected future cash flows exceed the initial investment, and the quick payback period reinforces the recommendation that this project is feasible. With high profit potential and controlled financial risks, this project is deemed capable of contributing to business growth and the operational sustainability of the company.

Abstract

This study examines the gender responsiveness of management practices in two Protected Areas (PAs) in Luzon, Philippines: Mt. Calavite Wildlife Sanctuary (MCWS) and Mt. Arayat Protected Landscape (MAPL). Using a descriptive-quantitative approach, data were gathered through surveys and external assessments to evaluate the gender sensitivity of Protected Area Management Plans (PAMPs), staff composition, and gender-related initiatives. Findings reveal that although both PAs are rated as gender-aware in their PAMPs, gender imbalances persist in staffing, particularly in roles such as Forest Rangers, Information Officers, and Forest Attendants, which are occupied exclusively by one gender. Operational gaps were noted despite gender-responsive plans, especially in MAPL, where some staff believe men are not adequately informed about Republic Act No. 9710 (Magna Carta of Women), indicating a need for training. Funding limitations were also found to hinder the implementation of women-empowerment programs. The study recommends developing policies to eliminate gender bias in job assignments and promoting equal participation of all genders in PA management. Bridging the gap between planning and practice is essential to achieving inclusive, equitable, and sustainable conservation outcomes.

Abstract

Regional governments are responsible for public services through agencies like the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP). In Klungkung Regency, Satpol PP’s performance from 2021–2024 averaged 96.15%, falling short of targets. SKP data and absence rates also highlight performance issues. Field observations suggest low emotional intelligence, poor work discipline, and weak organizational commitment as key factors, reflected in employees’ inability to manage emotions, lack of punctuality, and limited loyalty to the organization. This study aims to determine the effect of emotional intelligence and work discipline on employee performance, with organizational commitment as a mediating variable, at the Klungkung Regency Satpol PP. The population in this study was all 73 civil servants of the Klungkung Regency Satpol PP. This study used a census to select all employees, with an initial sample size of 73. However, unit heads were excluded from the sample, resulting in a total of 72 respondents. The data collection method was a questionnaire. The analytical technique used to answer the hypotheses was inferential analysis using Partial Least Squares (PLS). The study found that emotional intelligence positively influenced organizational commitment but did not directly affect performance. Work discipline negatively affected performance but positively influenced commitment. Organizational commitment had a significant positive impact on performance, fully mediating the effect of emotional intelligence and partially mediating the effect of work discipline. To enhance performance, leaders should provide emotional training, improve communication, and enforce discipline, while employees should strengthen emotional control, discipline, and commitment.

Abstract

The insurance industry plays a crucial role in supporting national economic development by providing risk protection to the community. PT Jasa Raharja, as one of the State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) engaged in traffic accident insurance, has a strategic role in providing social security to the community, especially victims of traffic accidents in Indonesia. Therefore, improving employee performance is the main focus of the organization in carrying out its duties and responsibilities optimally in order to provide the best service for the public. This study aims to analyze the implementation of training, career development, job satisfaction, and employee performance at PT Jasa Raharja Bali. Data were collected through a survey of 51 employees who were sampled in the study. The results of data collection were processed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling. The results showed that training has a significant positive effect on employee performance and also on job satisfaction. Career development has no significant effect on employee performance, but a significant positive impact on job satisfaction. Job satisfaction has a significant positive effect on performance. In addition, it was found that job satisfaction is unable to mediate the effect of training on employee performance, but is able to mediate the effect of career development on employee performance partially.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of academic monitoring and evaluation on student study duration at Nusa Cendana University and identify influencing factors. The background of this study is based on the phenomenon of the high number of students who do not graduate on time, which directly impacts the quality of the institution and the accreditation of study programs. Academic monitoring and evaluation are important managerial tools in controlling and accelerating student study completion. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies of the policies and implementation of academic monitoring and evaluation at Nusa Cendana University. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the implementation of academic monitoring and evaluation is not fully effective in influencing the accuracy of student study duration. Several weaknesses were identified, including minimal intensity of academic guidance, weak follow-up on evaluation results, suboptimal utilization of the academic information system, and limited intervention for students experiencing delays in their studies. Factors influencing the effectiveness of monitoring and evaluation include the capacity of the supervisor, academic management, student motivation, and institutional support. This research recommends strengthening the monitoring and evaluation system to be more systematic and responsive, increasing the role of academic advisors, and developing data-driven policies to support students in completing their studies on time.

Abstract

The study addresses the question, “How does the application of QFD help YIMM enhance the service quality of its motorcycle products in Indonesia?”. A mixed-methods approach was employed, using surveys and interviews to collect data from YIMM customers and management. Data were analyzed using a Likert scale and statistical software to identify key customer requirements. The findings indicate that the attributes of Service Ability, Conformance, and Perceived Quality are primary factors in customer satisfaction with Yamaha products, while the Aesthetic attribute requires improvement. This study fills a gap in the literature by examining QFD as a quality improvement tool within Indonesia's automotive industry, specifically in the automatic motorcycle segment. The application of QFD at YIMM has effectively enhanced service quality in line with customer expectations. However, improvements in product aesthetics could further strengthen YIMM’s competitive position in the market.

Abstract

The growth of Bali's tourism sector, especially in hospitality, has increased demand for skilled workers. However, high turnover intention is a challenge, as seen at Ibah Luxury Villa, where turnover exceeds the 10% annual threshold. Contributing factors include work-family conflict, limited promotion opportunities, and low organizational commitment. This study aims to examine the role of organizational commitment in mediating the influence of work-family conflict and job satisfaction on employee turnover intention at Ibah Luxury Villa in Ubud. The population in this study was all 62 employees at Ibah Luxury Villa in Ubud. Since the population size was only 62, all members of the population were used as respondents; in other words, this was a census study. The data collection method was a questionnaire. The analysis technique used to answer the hypotheses was inferential analysis using Partial Least Squares (PLS). The study found that work-family conflict had a significant positive effect on turnover intention, while job satisfaction did not. Both work-family conflict and job satisfaction significantly influenced organizational commitment, but organizational commitment did not affect turnover intention nor mediate the relationships. This indicates that work-family conflict directly drives turnover intention, while job satisfaction and commitment are not strong predictors. Companies should address work-family conflict through work-life balance initiatives and strengthen commitment with appreciation and empathetic communication. Retention strategies must be comprehensive, beyond just satisfaction or commitment.

Abstract

The restaurant industry in Denpasar, Bali, is growing rapidly due to high tourism demand, leading to intense competition and pressure on employees. This study examines the impact of emotional labor and workplace incivility on psychological well-being, with burnout as a mediating variable. Data were collected from 180 restaurant employees in Denpasar through questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares (PLS).The study found that emotional labor had a positive effect on psychological well-being (β=0.226, p=0.005), supported by the internalization of Balinese cultural values such as Tri Hita Karana and pride in working in the tourism sector, which transform emotional demands into a source of satisfaction. Meanwhile, workplace incivility also showed a positive effect on psychological well-being (β=0.871, p<0.001), indicating that employees develop resilience and utilize social support to transform incivility into a challenge that fosters personal growth. However, workplace incivility significantly increased burnout (β=1.061, p<0.001), indicating that even though incivility was initially perceived as a challenge, it still drained psychological resources. Emotional labor did not directly lead to burnout (β=-0.128, p=0.056), nor did burnout significantly affect psychological well-being (β=-0.171, p=0.081), likely due to cultural and spiritual support in Bali. However, burnout significantly mediated the effects of emotional labor (β=0.282, p=0.028) and workplace incivility (β=-0.387, p=0.001) on psychological well-being, underscoring the role of cultural coping in workplace psychological dynamics.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between Bata shoe quality, price perception, and repurchase intention in the Bandung Raya area, as mediated by customer satisfaction. Despite a positive growth trend in the national footwear market, the declining Top Brand Index for Bata shoes over the last three years suggests a decline in customer repurchase interest. A total of 120 respondents who had purchased or worn Bata shoes at least once in the past 12 months were given questionnaires as part of this study's quantitative survey methodology. The Sobel test and multiple regression were used to assess the mediating role and interpret the data. The results show that perceptions of product quality and pricing have a favourable and significant impact on both consumer satisfaction and repurchase intention. Additionally, it has been demonstrated that the relationship between repurchase intention and perceptions of price and product quality is mediated by customer satisfaction. PT Sepatu Bata Tbk's management will likely use these findings to create marketing plans that prioritise raising customer satisfaction, modifying price perception, and enhancing product quality to promote repurchase intention.
