Abstract

This study explores the relationship between community leadership styles—specifically, democratic and pseudo-democratic styles—and the sustainability of community projects in Southwest Nigeria. Employing a descriptive research design of the survey type, data were collected through self-structured questionnaires administered to 300 community leaders and 1,459 community members across 60 communities in three states. The instruments utilized were the Democratic and Pseudo-democratic Leadership Styles Questionnaire (DPLSQ) and the Sustainability of Community Development Projects Questionnaire (SCDPQ), each designed to gauge respondents' perceptions and attitudes. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses, including Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation, were employed to analyze the data. Findings revealed a significant discrepancy between democratic leadership ideals and actual practices, with community leaders often failing to involve members in decision-making processes, mobilization, or seeking their opinions on projects. Similarly, pseudo-democratic leadership, characterized by token consultation while disregarding community input, was prevalent. However, while democratic leadership exhibited a moderately positive relationship with project sustainability, pseudo-democratic leadership showed no significant correlation. It was concluded that democratic leadership enhances sustainability, whereas pseudo-democratic leadership undermines it. Recommendations include fostering genuine community participation in project decision-making processes and advocating for democratic leadership styles to ensure project sustainability. These findings underscore the importance of transparent, inclusive governance practices for successful community development initiatives.

Abstract

This study addresses the gap in understanding the synergy between administrative law and public administration in the context of modern governance. While the roles of each field have been widely discussed, their interaction requires further exploration. Through this study, we aim to bridge that gap by examining how administrative law, which regulates administrative actions and policies to ensure legality and justice, can interact with public administration, which focuses on the efficient and equitable implementation of public policies. Using a theoretical approach and case analysis, this research demonstrates that aligning administrative law with public administration not only enhances efficiency and effectiveness but also strengthens public trust in governmental institutions. Conversely, discrepancies between these two fields may lead to inefficiency, corruption, and injustice. Based on these findings, this study underscores the importance of administrative law reforms that emphasize accountability and transparency, as well as the need for continuous education for public officials to maintain this alignment, ultimately contributing to the improvement of governance in a broader context.

Abstract

Abstract

One of the successes of elections is the high level of participation. High participation guarantees the legitimacy of the government and protects the voting rights of citizens, including groups of people with disabilities. The research method used was a qualitative method with a descriptive approach and the technique for determining informants used a purposive technique. Based on research results, it shows that the Riau Province KPU has made efforts to increase the participation of disabled voters in the 2024 elections. However, these efforts have not been optimal. In carrying out its efforts, the Riau Province KPU still has obstacles so that the participation rate of disabled voters in Riau Province is still very low. The roles that have been carried out by the Riau Province KPU are conducting outreach to disabled voters, coordinating between agencies, forming democracy volunteers, opening up opportunities to organize general elections for people with disabilities, and creating accessible general elections. The obstacles faced by the Riau Province KPU in increasing the participation of people with disabilities in the 2024 elections are influenced by family factors, economic factors, and finally budget factors.

Abstract

The article discusses the mainstreaming of mediation as a mechanism in the dispute resolution process in elections in Indonesia. In various elections or elections, it is reflected that this mediation mechanism is minimally used as an instrument in resolving disputes in the election process. In fact, theoretically, this mediation process has many advantages compared to the litigation process. The number of disputes in the election process that prioritize the litigation process reflects the low interest or trust of participants, as well as the lack of maximum Election Supervisors who are positioned as referees to maximize this role and function properly. It was recorded that from the 2014 election to 2024, there were 789 dispute complaints filed by election participants. This article uses normative juridical law research methods that are used using primary, secondary and tertiary legal literature and materials. The results of the discussion show that Bawaslu as an institution attributed by law to resolve election disputes in the majority is still taking the path of litigation. It is understandable that mediation has been carried out but has failed to be carried out. However, this condition must again be encouraged by the spirit of mediation to reach a consensus so that election disputes can be channelized not only through adjudication.

Abstract

The practice of kinship politics leads to the regeneration of power for the benefit of certain groups, namely children, husbands, wives, younger siblings with the aim of gaining or maintaining power. Many family members of political officials on Bangka Island will run in the 2024 election. The results showed that there was kinship politics in the 2024 election on Bangka Island in the families of H. Sukirman, Riza Herdavid, and Maulana Aklil. This form of kinship politics includes direct support from the family and the influence of kinship that rules the region. The development of kinship politics in Bangka Island is due to factors of political elites who want to maintain or perpetuate power, party attitudes that are still pragmatic, weak regeneration, political opportunities for kinship politics, people who vote are still pragmatic, and an election system that provides space for thepractice of kinship politics.
