Abstract

This community service program was implemented at SD Negeri Bulurejo 1 to address the limited literacy and numeracy development of students with special needs (SSN) who often face barriers in conventional learning environments. The program adopted a multiple intelligence–based learning approach integrated with entrepreneurship-oriented practical activities, including oyster mushroom cultivation, vegetable hydroponics, salted egg production, and shoe cleaning services. The implementation was conducted through systematic stages consisting of needs assessment, development of adaptive learning modules and guidelines, training for teachers and parents, and intensive mentoring involving university students and school stakeholders. The evaluation results indicate a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes. In the literacy domain, students’ achievement levels increased by one to two levels, progressing from predominantly levels 1–2 at the initial phase to 100% of students (18 participants) reaching level 3 at the final phase of the program. A similar pattern was observed in the numeracy domain, where all students (100%) demonstrated mastery of basic counting skills, simple addition and subtraction, and the application of numeracy in daily contexts. In terms of entrepreneurship skills, 40% of students showed measurable development in basic independence and responsibility during productive activities. Furthermore, teachers experienced improved competence in implementing inclusive, multiple intelligence–based instructional strategies, while parental involvement remained relatively low at 10%, indicating the need for further reinforcement. The program produced tangible outputs, including a community service article, posters, activity videos, press releases, and draft learning modules and implementation guidelines that support replication in other inclusive schools.

Abstract

English language proficiency plays an increasingly important role in supporting the quality of secondary education, including within Islamic-based schools that emphasize the integration of academic excellence and religious values. SMA Sains Tahfidz Qur’an Al-Ammar Deli Serdang, as a Tahfidz-oriented institution, faces specific challenges in English instruction, particularly in developing spoken dialogues that are both communicative and aligned with Islamic contexts. Many teachers experience limitations in designing and implementing English dialogue activities that reflect religious practices and everyday school life. In response to this condition, a community service program was conducted to provide Islamic-based English dialogue training for teachers. The main objective of this program was to enhance teachers’ understanding, pedagogical insight, and readiness to develop and apply communicative English dialogues that are contextually relevant to Islamic educational settings. The program involved teachers of SMA Sains Tahfidz Qur’an Al-Ammar Deli Serdang as active partners throughout all stages of the activity. The implementation method included needs analysis, training material development, workshop-based training sessions, mentoring, and evaluation. Program outcomes were assessed using a quantitative approach through pre-test and post-test instruments, as well as qualitative methods such as observation and participant reflection. The findings indicate a noticeable improvement in teachers’ conceptual understanding of Islamic-based English dialogues, increased confidence in using spoken English, and greater preparedness to implement meaningful dialogue-based instruction in the classroom. Overall, this community service activity contributed positively to strengthening the quality and relevance of English language learning in an Islamic school context.

Abstract

This community service activity was conducted in Suka Damai Village to improve the quality of village administrative services through participatory mentoring in the implementation of a digital attendance system. The main problems faced by the partner included the use of manual attendance records, low administrative efficiency, a high risk of recording errors, and limited digital literacy among village officials. This program aimed to enhance the capacity and independence of village officials in managing attendance administration in an orderly, accurate, and transparent manner. The service implementation employed a participatory mentoring approach that actively involved village officials through needs analysis, system usage training, intensive mentoring, as well as monitoring and evaluation stages. The results indicate positive changes among the partners, reflected in increased understanding of information technology, reduced reliance on manual attendance records, and improved independence of village officials in managing the digital attendance system sustainably. Furthermore, the attendance administration process became more structured, accessible, and supportive of transparent village governance. This community service program provides a practical contribution to empowering village officials and has the potential to be replicated in other villages facing similar administrative challenges.

Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) activity aims to improve the efficiency of PLN electricity usage in managing closed poultry houses (close house) through the application of Hybrid PLTS-PLN technology, IoT systems, and water filtration systems. The main problems addressed in this activity include the high electricity consumption of partner farmers in managing close house poultry facilities, poor water quality, and limited monitoring of the poultry houses, which previously relied only on blurred plastic sheets attached to the walls.The methods used in this activity consist of several stages, including problem identification, literature study, system design, fabrication, testing, installation, and dissemination of system usage to partners.The results of this activity show an efficiency improvement in electricity usage of 165,888 kWh per production cycle and 995.328 kWh annually, resulting in savings of Rp. 174,801.85 per cycle and Rp. 1,048,801.85 annually. In addition, the developed system successfully reduced mortality rates from 220 birds (5.5%) to 133 birds (3%), while also facilitating partner farmers in monitoring poultry house conditions through IoT-based CCTV and controlling lighting systems via smartphones.Challenges encountered during implementation included limited working time and long procurement durations for components, which were constrained by the availability of offline supplies.This activity provides both short-term and long-term impacts, as well as opportunities for further development of livestock technology implementation on a more complex scale using renewable energy in rural areas.

Abstract

The teaching assistance program at SMAN 1 Karanganom was implemented to address the low integration of digital technology in physics learning, particularly in digital instruments and microcontroller topics. This program aimed to enhance the digital competence of Grade XII students through concept and practice-based learning using the Jigsaw and Project-Based Learning (PjBL) models, emphasizing student-centered and collaborative activities. The program was conducted over four weeks and involved students from classes XII H, XII I, XII J, and XII K as the primary participants, in collaboration with physics teachers and the school management at SMAN 1 Karanganom. The activity stages included instruction on digital instrument concepts, an introduction to Arduino-based microcontrollers, and the development of simple automation projects. Data were collected through pretest-posttest, digital competence questionnaires, and classroom observations. The results showed improvements in students’ conceptual understanding and technical skills. The average posttest scores increased compared to the pretest results, with normalized gain (N-gain) values ranging from 0.05 to 0.47, indicating low to moderate improvement levels. Furthermore, the final questionnaire results revealed an increase in students’ digital competence, with more than 70% of students categorized as “good” and “very good” in aspects of logic gate understanding, digital input-output system, and microcontroller programming. Project-based learning also promoted higher levels of student engagement, collaboration, and positive attitudes toward digital technology. Therefore, this teaching assistance program was effective in improving students’ digital competence and can serve as a contextual, practical, and relevant alternative approach to physics learning aligned with 21st-century demands.

Abstract

Regulations have been issued in the Instruction of the Minister of Religious Affairs Number 1 of 2023 concerning Halal Certification of Products and Canteens in Work Units under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, which mandates that canteens in the work units of the Ministry of Religious Affairs are expected to have halal certification, including on Islamic university However, field data shows that there are six canteens on the UIN KHAS Jember that do not yet have halal certification. This community service activity aims to improve the quality and management of canteens based on the Halal Product Assurance System on the UIN KHAS Jember. This community service activity was carried out using the Non-participatory Action Research model, which includes several stages, namely 1) identification, 2) design, 3) approval, 4) implementation, 5) completion, 6) operation, and 7) evaluation. The results show that there are three UIN KHAS Jember canteens that are ready to apply for halal certificates. The canteens that are declared ready have complete legal formalities that meet the requirements, so they are considered ready to continue to apply for halal certificates. Based on the description, it can be concluded that to improve the quality of canteen management on the UIN KHAS Jember, it is necessary to improve the quality of canteen management, mentoring canteens to move up a class, halal socialization, mentoring in preparing Halal Product Assurance System, and mentoring in submitting halal certificates. Abstracts must not contain tables/figures and do not include citations. It is not permitted to use abbreviations except for units of a quantity and use them to a minimum.
