Abstract

The high consumption of refined sugar in Indonesia increases the risk of non-communicable diseases, such as obesity, diabetes, and hypertension. Education on healthier natural sweeteners, like palm sugar, is needed to improve public food literacy. Palm sugar, derived from coconut or palm sap, contains minerals (potassium, magnesium, iron) and has a lower glycemic index compared to refined sugar, making it a potential alternative natural sweetener. This community service aimed to increase public knowledge of palm sugar's nutritional benefits and encourage behavioral change to reduce refined sugar consumption. The participatory learning and action (PLA) method was used, consisting of preparation, education, and evaluation stages. Education included interactive lectures, demonstrations, and group discussions. Evaluation was done with pre-test and post-test questionnaires and observation of interest in palm sugar use. Results showed a 56.7% increase in participants' knowledge after the education. Most participants also expressed willingness to replace refined sugar with palm sugar in their daily diet.

Abstract

This activity was motivated by the low level of digital literacy and the limited implementation of programming education in secondary schools, which have resulted in students’ lack of understanding of computational thinking from an early age. In fact, this ability is essential for developing critical and creative thinking skills to face the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0. This condition highlights the need for educational interventions that introduce the concept of coding starting from the high school level. The workshop aimed to introduce the fundamentals of programming to students of SMA INS Kayutanam through an interactive visual approach using the Scratch platform. This platform was chosen because it is beginner-friendly, featuring a block-based interface that is easy to understand without requiring complex syntax. Through this activity, students learned programming logic, algorithmic thinking, and problem-solving skills in a fun and practical way. The implementation used a project-based learning approach that combined short lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice, and group discussions. The activity was carried out over two days in the school’s computer laboratory, involving 20 students and two accompanying teachers. Each session focused on introducing programming logic, creating mini projects using Scratch, and evaluating learning outcomes through pre-tests and post-tests. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ understanding, with the average pre-test score increasing from 43 to 82 in the post-test. A total of 90% of participants expressed satisfaction with the activity, and 85% were interested in continuing to learn programming afterward. The visual-based workshop model proved effective in enhancing students’ motivation, confidence, and understanding of technology. This activity not only developed students’ cognitive abilities but also encouraged them to experiment, collaborate, and create through simple projects such as animations or interactive games. The program has the potential to serve as a sustainable community engagement model that integrates educational, technological, and social aspects in supporting the digital transformation of education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the professional capacity of teachers through mastery of modern educational technologies. The implementation of this program is based on several issues identified within the partner institution, including teachers’ limited understanding of artificial intelligence, their low ability to integrate coding into learning activities, and the suboptimal use of digital tools and media in the classroom. These challenges contribute to students’ low digital literacy and the insufficient application of project-based learning that aligns with current technological developments. The training program was designed to strengthen teachers’ competencies in implementing AI-based coding instruction through participatory approaches and hands-on practice. The learning modules were developed contextually to meet the specific needs of the partner school, enabling teachers to adapt them easily into their teaching practices. The results of the program indicate significant improvements in teachers’ understanding of fundamental AI concepts, their ability to integrate coding into the learning process, and their capacity to apply digital technologies ethically and effectively. Enhanced student engagement was also observed, as learners became more enthusiastic and active in participating in project-based learning activities involving AI applications. Although the program faced several limitations, such as inadequate technological equipment and limited implementation time, it has established a strong foundation for the development of more structured and sustainable follow-up activities. Overall, the outcomes demonstrate that strengthening teachers’ competencies in artificial intelligence plays a crucial role in fostering an innovative digital learning ecosystem aligned with the demands of 21st-century education.

Abstract

Muslim Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises play a strategic role in promoting local economic empowerment and enhancing community welfare. However, in practice, many business actors still face limited access to capital that complies with Islamic principles as well as a low level of understanding of Islamic financial instruments, including productive waqf. CV. Sarana Teknik Industri, as the program partner, possesses strong social and economic potential through a socially oriented business model, yet has not optimally utilized its assets and resources to support sustainable business development. This community service program aims to strengthen productive waqf literacy among MSME employees in order to promote economic independence based on Islamic values. The methods employed include productive waqf literacy training, mentoring in Islamic financial management, and the design of productive asset management models. Program evaluation was conducted through pre-test and post-test assessments involving 13 employees, complemented by qualitative observations of changes in participants’ attitudes and social initiatives. The results indicate a 33% increase in participants’ understanding, from an average pre-test score of 52% to 85% in the post-test. Furthermore, participants demonstrated a mindset transformation, as reflected in the emergence of internal initiatives such as the establishment of an employee-based productive waqf program. This program demonstrates that productive waqf literacy not only enhances knowledge but also fosters economic independence, social innovation, and business sustainability among MSMEs. These findings provide a basis for recommending that other Muslim MSMEs integrate productive waqf as a sustainable instrument for economic empowerment.

Abstract

The Friday sermon (khutbah Jum‘ah) faces challenges in engaging Generation Z, as sermons often seem detached from their realities. Yet, the khutbah has strategic potential as a tool for spiritual and social development within the mosque community. This community service program aims to strengthen the capacity of young preachers (khatib muda) from Generation Z through contextual sermon training that is relevant to the challenges of the digital era, while utilizing the mosque as a center for community empowerment. The program was carried out in collaboration with the Campus Mosque of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, a strategic partner that provided participants, facilities, and support for implementing post-sermon action programs. The project used a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, emphasizing that participants actively engaged in every program stage, including: (1) intensive training for young preachers on sermon substance and the mosque’s social role; (2) sermon practice and direct mentoring; (3) observing and evaluating sermon delivery; and (4) conducting post-sermon social and religious action programs. Data were collected through participatory observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed descriptively and qualitatively using triangulation techniques. The activities showed a significant improvement in participants’ rhetorical competence, sermon content, and social sensitivity. Approximately 85% of participants successfully developed sermon manuscripts with contextual themes, and 78% delivered sermons that engaged the audience. Post-sermon programs such as Green Dakwah, Masjid Talk Gen Z, and digital literacy training successfully increased youth congregation participation and strengthened the mosque’s role as a collaborative community space. The training of Generation Z preachers proved effective in reinforcing the khutbah's role as a holistic instrument for community development.

Abstract

The problem of waste, particularly textile waste, continues to increase in line with the growing trend of fast fashion and the lack of effective household waste management. Larangan Village, located in Candi Subdistrict, Sidoarjo, has great potential to develop a community-based waste management system through the active role of the PKK Larangan Mega Asri Women’s Group. This community service program aims to improve literacy, skills, and management of textile waste processing integrated with Internet of Things (IOT)-based technology. The implementation methods include socialization, skills training, technical assistance, monitoring, and evaluation of partner competency improvement. Based on the results of questionnaires completed by training participants, the textile waste processing training activities had a positive impact on improving participants’ knowledge, skills, and motivation. Each indicator aspect showed satisfactory results: knowledge (average score 4.60), skills (4.36), attitude, motivation, and sustainability (4.67), as well as program relevance and usefulness (4.70) on a five-point scale, with an overall average score of 4.56 or 91.20%. In addition, the application of technology through the “KLAMBIKU” IOT-based donation box innovation has strengthened the textile waste management system to become more efficient, integrated, and user-friendly. This technology enables real-time monitoring of box conditions, digital storage of donation data, and the provision of information on nearby donation locations to the community. Overall, this program demonstrates that the combination of skill-based education and the application of appropriate technology can serve as an innovative solution for community-based textile waste management.

Abstract

The digital literacy gap in rural areas remains a major challenge in ensuring equitable education quality in Indonesia, particularly at the elementary school level which often lacks technological facilities. This service aims to optimize basic computer competence and stimulate student creativity through intensive mentoring. The service partners in this activity are elementary education institutions and the surrounding community identified as having limited access to information technology devices. The implementation method uses a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach with a learning by doing technique focused on three main aspects: hardware introduction, ten-finger typing training using the interactive site Typingcore, and creative visualization using Microsoft Paint. The activity was carried out for six weeks involving active student participation and full support from village officials. The results showed a significant increase in students' understanding of computer device functions and increased fine motor skills in using the mouse and keyboard. Success indicators are seen from the ability of 100% of students to operate booting and shutdown procedures independently, an increase in average typing speed, and the creation of simple, original digital works as activity outputs. The implication of this activity is the formation of students' adaptive mindsets towards technology. In conclusion, the direct practice method proved effective in building children's self-confidence, reducing technology anxiety (technophobia), and becoming a feasible mentoring model to be replicated for areas with similar characteristics.

Abstract

The Community Service (PKM) entitled Time Management Strategy for Students at the RH La Tahzan Foundation in Cinangka, Depok – West Java aims to implement and maintain time management strategies for students to optimize their busy daily activities in the Islamic boarding school environment. The activity methods include observation, questionnaire distribution, counseling, time management technique training, and mentoring in implementing the strategies for two to three weeks. The strategies introduced include time blocking, the 3P priority technique (Important–Necessary–Supporting), the use of timers, the Pomodoro technique, and daily evaluations. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the efficiency of students' time use, such as reduced transition time, increased focus on night study, and the formation of a habit of making daily plans. In addition, students also experienced increased discipline, the ability to complete assignments on time, and a decrease in academic stress levels. However, several challenges were still encountered, such as inconsistent schedule implementation and peer influence. Overall, the target of this service was the students of the RH La Tahzan Foundation, Cinangka, Depok – West Java. The results of this PKM demonstrate that simple yet structured time management strategies can help students maintain a more effective daily rhythm. Sustainable implementation is expected to improve students' independence, academic achievement, and quality of life at the Islamic boarding school, extending this knowledge back home, into the surrounding environment, and into the community.

Abstract

Child marriage is one of the major risk factors contributing to the high prevalence of stunting in Indonesia, particularly in rural areas. Adolescents, as a group transitioning into adulthood, play a strategic role in preventing early marriage through improved literacy in reproductive health and nutrition. This community service program aimed to enhance the knowledge and awareness of youth members of the Karang Taruna in Sukaraja Village regarding the dangers of child marriage and its association with stunting risk. The program involved 23 adolescents as participants. The implementation methods included initial observation, development of educational materials, coordination with village authorities, interactive lectures, participatory discussions, and demonstrations of educational media. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test instruments, attitude observation, and brief reflective interviews. Results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge, indicated by an improvement in the average score from 52.8 to 80.97 after the educational session. Participants also demonstrated more critical attitudes toward child marriage practices and expressed commitment to becoming agents of change in stunting prevention within their community. This program proved effective in improving adolescents’ reproductive health literacy and shows potential for sustainability through Karang Taruna initiatives to continue educational campaigns. Community-based education efforts such as this are essential to support the postponement of marriage age and reduce stunting risk among future generations.

Abstract

The oyster mushroom cultivation skills training for students is carried out as a strategic effort to equip the younger generation with technical skills and foster an entrepreneurial spirit in the agribusiness sector. This activity is motivated by the limited practical competence of students in developing economically valuable agricultural businesses, so that the need for applied training relevant to the needs of the job market and independent business opportunities. The purpose of this activity is to improve students' technical skills in oyster mushroom cultivation and foster knowledge, attitudes, and interest in agribusiness-based entrepreneurship. The implementation method includes interactive lectures, demonstrations, direct practice, and group discussions held at P4S Cendawan Eduwisata Medan. Evaluation was carried out through pre-tests and post-tests as well as observation of participant skills during the activity. The results of the training showed a significant increase in students' technical skills with an average increase of 63.2%, including the ability to create planting media, inoculation of seeds, maintenance, up to harvesting and post-harvest handling. In addition, students' knowledge and interest in entrepreneurship also increased by 54.2%. These results demonstrate that the training is effective in developing an entrepreneurial mindset and enhancing students' readiness to develop modern agricultural-based businesses, particularly oyster mushroom cultivation. Therefore, this activity plays a crucial role in developing innovative, independent, and competitive young entrepreneurs in the agribusiness sector.
