Abstract

This study examines the typology and characteristics of Islam Nusantara in Kediri by analyzing the configuration of Islamic discourse surrounding contemporary Islamic issues. The study is motivated by the increasing diversity of religious expressions in response to issues such as religious moderation, digital da'wah, religious purification, radicalism, and the relationship between religion and local culture. While previous studies have generally discussed Islam Nusantara as a broad conceptual framework, its diverse typological configurations within specific local contexts remain insufficiently explored. This study therefore aims to identify the typology of Islam Nusantara in Kediri, examine its characteristics, and analyze how different Muslim groups respond to contemporary Islamic issues. Employing a qualitative approach with discursive analysis, this study draws on data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving religious leaders, pesantren caretakers, da'wah activists, relevant literature, and digital media. The findings reveal that Islam Nusantara in Kediri is not homogeneous but consists of four major typologies: Integrative Traditionalist Islam, Adaptive Cultural Islam, Progressive Academic Islam, and Popular Digital Islam. These typologies are distinguished by their social bases, intellectual orientations, religious expressions, and strategies for responding to contemporary challenges. The findings further indicate that Islam Nusantara in Kediri is generally characterized by moderation, inclusivity, adaptability, and strong connections to pesantren traditions and local wisdom. This study contributes to the understanding of Islam Nusantara by demonstrating its diverse and dynamic local configurations in response to changing religious, social, cultural, and digital contexts.

Abstract

Data-driven decision-making has become increasingly important in educational management, yet its application in madrasah contexts requires attention not only to empirical evidence but also to the Islamic values that shape institutional practices. Previous discussions have largely addressed data-based management and Islamic educational values separately, leaving limited understanding of how both dimensions are integrated within managerial decision-making. This study aims to analyze the utilization of institutional data, examine the role of Islamic values in the decision-making process, and formulate a management model that integrates data and Islamic values at MTs Taufiqiyyatul Asna Pare. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation and analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the madrasah uses academic, attendance, discipline, achievement, and service data as considerations in managerial decision-making. However, data utilization is selective and contextual, with attendance and discipline data being used more frequently because of their direct relevance to daily operational problems. The findings further demonstrate that data do not automatically determine decisions. Instead, empirical information is interpreted and deliberated through musyawarah, oriented toward consensus (mufakat), and guided by the principle of justice. The study proposes a madrasah management model in which data serve as an empirical basis for identifying problems, while Islamic values guide the deliberation, determination, implementation, and evaluation of decisions. This model contributes to a more evidence-informed, participatory, and value-oriented approach to educational management in madrasah contexts.

Abstract

Student discipline is an important component of character education, yet violations of school rules may still occur when disciplinary practices at school are not consistently reinforced at home. This study examines the implementation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on student regulations and the roles of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers and parents in strengthening student discipline at SD Negeri 2 Bumi Tinggi, East Lampung. The study employed a qualitative case study approach. Data were obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation involving a PAI teacher, five parents, the principal, the fifth-grade homeroom teacher, and six fifth-grade students. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with source and technique triangulation used to support data credibility. The findings indicate that the MoU provided a shared basis for disciplinary guidance between the school and parents. The PAI teacher contributed through classroom guidance, personal example, habituation, and supervision, while parents reinforced discipline through supervision at home, time management, preparation of school needs, and communication with the school. School documentation also recorded fewer disciplinary violations after the implementation of the MoU, including lateness, incomplete uniforms, late submission of assignments, and failure to participate in communal prayer. However, inconsistent parental supervision, peer influence, and limited student self-awareness remained challenges. The study concludes that the MoU functions not merely as an administrative agreement but as a collaborative instrument for strengthening continuity between school-based and family-based discipline development.
