Abstract

The 5.0 era demands deep digital transformation in all sectors, and education units are no exception. This article aims to discuss policy management in the context of education, especially in the 5.0 era, which is characterized by the integration of technology and humanist approaches in the learning process. The 5.0 era prepares students to face the challenges of the future, and requires educational units to adapt to rapid social and technological changes. This study uses a qualitative method with the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach by examining the results of research that have been published in journal articles that discuss the 5.0 era in educational units. The results of the study show that effective policy management in the 5.0 era includes the development of a curriculum that is responsive to industry needs, improving teacher competence through technology-based training, and collaboration between schools, parents and the community. Then, the article identifies the challenges faced by education units in implementing the policy, including resource limitations and resistance to change. It is hoped that these findings can provide insight for stakeholders in formulating better policy management strategies to improve the quality of education in the 5.0 era.

Abstract

Islamic higher education faces significant challenges in adapting to the demands of globalization, technological advancements, and sociopolitical changes. These challenges highlight the need for transformative management approaches that align institutional goals with the development of graduates who embody strong Islamic character and global competencies. Previous studies have identified gaps in integrating Islamic values across all aspects of governance and education, including curricula, organizational culture, and professional ethics. This study aims to address these gaps by exploring transformative management practices in private Islamic universities in Batam, Indonesia. Employing a qualitative research approach with a phenomenological perspective, the study gathered data through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that transformative management requires not only curriculum innovation and the integration of Islamic principles but also sustained training for educators and effective use of technology to enhance teaching quality and institutional competitiveness. Despite these efforts, challenges such as limited human resources, insufficient funding, and resistance to change hinder full implementation. The study underscores the importance of cross-sector collaborations involving governments, educational institutions, and Islamic organizations to overcome resource constraints and foster innovative practices. The implications are profound, offering a framework for creating educational environments that balance academic excellence with the moral and spiritual growth of students. In conclusion, this research contributes to the development of management strategies for Islamic higher education that are holistic and inclusive, laying the groundwork for institutions to serve as agents of transformation within society while maintaining their Islamic ethos.

Abstract

The development of higher education curricula in Indonesia faces challenges in adapting to globalization, technological advancements, and industrial demands while preserving local and religious values. This study analyzes the curriculum development model based on the Indonesian National Qualification Framework (KKNI) at Islamic higher education institutions with a pesantren-based approach, using STAI Al-Anwar Sarang Rembang as a case study. It identifies key issues such as limited human resources understanding KKNI concepts, insufficient expert guidance, and inadequate budgets and infrastructure as major obstacles to curriculum implementation. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and analysis of institutional documents. Data were analyzed through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that integrating pesantren values with KKNI-based learning outcomes has been collaboratively designed, although implementation remains suboptimal. Major challenges include a lack of training for lecturers, limited information technology infrastructure, and unsystematic evaluations. However, the study also highlights significant potential for curriculum improvement through expert support, regular training, and enhanced infrastructure. This research provides significant implications for curriculum development in pesantren-based institutions by emphasizing the importance of a holistic approach that integrates traditional education with modern demands. In conclusion, despite numerous challenges, the KKNI-based pesantren curriculum holds great potential to produce graduates who are academically competent, professionally skilled, and deeply rooted in strong moral values.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of Discovery Learning and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) methods in improving the quality and learning outcomes of grade V students in IPAS (Natural and Social Sciences) subjects. Using a quasi-experimental approach as well as a nonequivalent control group design, this study was conducted at MIN 4 Jombang with 64 students divided into experimental (n=34) and control (n=30) groups. Data collection can be done with pretest-posttest assessments, learning quality questionnaires, and observation sheets. The results of this study showed a very significant difference between the two methods, where the Discovery Learning class achieved a higher average posttest score (89.12) than the PBL group (85.33). In addition, the learning quality questionnaire showed that the Discovery Learning group had higher scores in the aspects of motivation, activeness, and participation than the PBL group. Statistical analysis using t-test proved a significant difference between the two groups (t=3.214, p=0.002). This study found that the greater effectiveness of Discovery Learning in encouraging independent exploration and creating a deeper understanding, which has a positive impact on the quality and learning outcomes of students in IPAS subjects.

Abstract

This study explores the transformation of formal education in pesantren following the enactment of Law Number 18 of 2019 on Pesantren, which formally integrates pesantren into Indonesia's national education system. As one of Indonesia's oldest educational institutions, pesantren faces significant challenges in aligning its traditional Islamic curriculum with national education standards despite a robust legal framework. This issue is critical since the limited recognition of pesantren diplomas hinders graduates' access to higher education and employment opportunities. However, with the right support and recognition, these graduates have the potential to significantly contribute to the future of Islamic education in Indonesia. Employing a descriptive-qualitative approach with juridical analysis, this research examines the regulatory changes and their implementation in pesantren. The findings reveal that while pesantren have adopted formal education models such as the Mu'adalah curriculum, Pendidikan Diniyah Formal (PDF), and Ma'had Aly, the practical application of these models still faces challenges, particularly in aligning with regulatory standards. The government's immediate and robust support is crucial to address these challenges. It must enhance oversight, provide sustainable funding, and strengthen professional development for pesantren educators. This study underscores the need for inclusive policies that empower pesantren to preserve their Islamic traditions while improving the employability and competitiveness of their graduates. Additionally, it recommends that pesantren adopt adaptive strategies in curriculum design and human resource management. The findings highlight Pesantren's critical role in balancing Islamic educational heritage with modern educational demands, contributing significantly to Indonesia's national education development.

Abstract

Technology integration in education has become crucial in enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes, especially in Islamic studies such as Fiqh. Conventional teaching methods often fail to engage students, effectively leading to suboptimal learning achievements. This study addresses the issue by investigating the impact of a Nearpod-based Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students' performance in Fiqh lessons, specifically at MTs Al-Ma'arif Badung Bali. The research fills a gap in the application of interactive technology-integrated pedagogies within Islamic education, aiming to improve understanding and motivation. The study employed a Non-Equivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design using a quantitative experimental approach. Sixty-three students participated and were divided into experimental and control groups through purposive sampling. Data collection involved tests, interviews, and documentation, analyzed using t-tests following normality and homogeneity testing. Key findings reveal a significant improvement in learning outcomes post-intervention. The experimental group taught using the Nearpod-based PBL model, achieved an average score of 73.44 compared to 61.41 in the pre-intervention phase. The significance value of 0.000 indicates a notable positive effect of the intervention. These results suggest that incorporating interactive technology and problem-based approaches enhances student engagement, critical thinking, and understanding of Fiqh concepts. This study underscores the potential of innovative teaching methods in transforming Islamic education. By leveraging technology, educators can bridge the gap between traditional practices and modern educational demands, fostering a more interactive and practical learning environment. The findings contribute to the growing discourse on integrating digital tools into pedagogical practices and highlight the need for broader implementation in diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

Since assessment holds a crucial role in the teaching and learning process, it is essential to examine teachers' approaches to assessment in their classrooms to determine whether their methods align with assessment theories and best practices. This study aimed to explore how madrasah teachers approach student assessment in their classrooms, focusing on the purpose of assessment, the assessment process, fairness in assessment, and the principles of measurement theory. The study involved 27 secondary-level madrasah teachers in an Indonesian context to illustrate their assessment knowledge and address the research gap in assessment studies for madrasah teachers. Their classroom assessment approaches were gathered and evaluated using the Approaches to Classroom Assessment Instrument (ACAI). The results indicate that madrasah teachers generally view assessment for learning as the primary purpose of their assessments, focus on the design aspect during the assessment process, adhere to standard principles of assessment fairness, and give equal importance to both validity and reliability in measurement theory. Finally, findings of this study should give valuable contribution to the body of assessment theory and become a reference for the government in improving madrasah teachers’ assessment literacy as well as their skills in assessing students’ learning.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays a crucial role in shaping the character and morals of students, particularly at the high school level. PAI teachers not only serve as educators of religious theory, but also as role models and mentors who assist students in internalizing Islamic values in their daily lives. In the face of globalization and various negative external influences, the role of PAI teachers becomes even more strategic in instilling noble morals, such as honesty, responsibility, and empathy towards others. Therefore, it is essential to examine how PAI teachers in schools can effectively shape students' character through approaches rooted in Islamic values. This study aims to explore the role of PAI teachers in shaping the moral character of students at SMA Al Irsyad in Tegal City. The study's informants consist of 15 individuals, including the school principal, PAI teachers, parents, and several students involved in PAI education. Data were analyzed using a qualitative approach, employing in-depth interviews and participatory observation techniques. Data validation was carried out through source triangulation, where the information obtained from interviews with teachers, students, and parents was compared and checked for consistency. The findings of the study indicate that PAI teachers at SMA Al Irsyad play a significant role in shaping students' character through an approach based on exemplary teaching, the habituation of Islamic values, and collaboration with parents to support character development. This research is expected to contribute to the development of character education methods based on religious values in Islamic schools and serve as a reference for religious education in shaping a generation with noble morals and religious devotion.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of a system approach in Islamic educational organizations. The research is qualitative in nature, employing a literature review methodology to address identified gaps in integrating Islamic values into educational practices. Previous research has often overlooked the comprehensive alignment between curriculum, educators, and technology in Islamic education. This study addresses this gap by analyzing primary sources and other relevant literature to understand how a system approach can harmonize these components. Data collection involved critical analysis of written documents and content analysis techniques to derive meaningful insights. Findings reveal that the system approach in Islamic education provides a robust framework for embedding Islamic values across all educational aspects. By integrating Islamic principles into the curriculum, balancing worldly and spiritual knowledge through tawhid, and implementing character development programs, the approach seeks to cultivate learners who excel both intellectually and morally. The results indicate significant potential for improving educational outcomes, including increased coherence between educational components and the enhancement of moral and ethical standards among students. Practical implications emphasize the need for adequate training for educators, investment in technological infrastructure, and policy support to overcome barriers like resource limitations and resistance to change. In conclusion, this study contributes to the understanding of systemic methods in Islamic education, offering actionable insights for policymakers and educators to foster an environment where Islamic values and modern educational demands coexist seamlessly. The findings highlight the approach’s role in shaping individuals who are well-prepared to navigate contemporary challenges while upholding Islamic ethics and principles.

Abstract

Pengawasan dan evaluasi terhadap lembaga pendidikan harus mencakup semua dimensi pendidikan, baik itu aspek proses pembelajaran maupun hasil yang dicapai. Penelitian ini mengkaji kesiapan dan kebutuhan madrasah ibtidaiyah di Banjarmasin dalam melaksanakan proses akreditasi yang sesuai dengan delapan standar nasional pendidikan. Studi ini menawarkan strategi praktis bagi madrasah untuk meningkatkan kesiapan akreditasi melalui pendekatan berbasis pendanaan lokal dan pelatihan guru. Menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif-eksploratif dan purposive sampling, data dikumpulkan dari enam madrasah ibtidaiyah Kota Banjarmasin melalui angket, wawancara, serta dokumentasi. Penelitian ini menemukan tingkat kesiapan madrasah secara keseluruhan mencapai 86,96%. Standar pembiayaan dan standar penilaian menunjukkan kesiapan tertinggi dengan masing-masing persentase 83,33%. Namun, terdapat tantangan signifikan pada standar sarana dan prasarana, di mana 50% responden menyatakan ketidaksiapan terkait luas lahan, fasilitas laboratorium, dan ruang perpustakaan. Selain itu, 16,67% responden menyatakan ketidaksepadanan latar belakang pendidikan guru dengan mata pelajaran yang disampaikan, dan hanya 33,33% yang sepenuhnya siap dalam penerapan model pembelajaran berbasi masalah, pembelajaran berbasis projek (PjBL), dan pembelajaran kontekstual. Madrasah hendaknya menetapkan tindakan strategis, seperti pengalokasian dana, peningkatan fasilitas, dan pelatihan tenaga pendidik, untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan serta mendukung keberhasilan akreditasi madrasah.
