Abstract

The learning process is a crucial element in education that includes the teacher's efforts in creating an atmosphere and providing support so that learning activities can run well. Education equips students with various skills to face challenges and changes. The Socratic Questioning strategy is a learning approach that focuses on in-depth question and answer dialog to encourage students' critical, analytical, and evaluative thinking. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of Socratic Questioning strategy in improving students' critical thinking skills and to determine the effectiveness of this strategy in learning. This type of research is qualitative with a case study approach, involving 40 students at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta as resource persons. Data collection techniques were conducted through questionnaires and in-depth interviews, then analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The results showed that the majority of students gave positive responses to the application of this strategy, with 53.77% agreeing and 26.65% strongly agreeing. The implementation of the Socratic Questioning strategy proved to be effective in helping students develop critical thinking skills, strengthening their ability to organize arguments systematically, and increasing engagement in class discussions. This study provides practical implications for lecturers in using the Socratic Questioning strategy to encourage more productive interactions and improve the quality of class discussions.

Abstract

The chronic disease of scientific dichotomy seems to still infect some activists of Islamic religious education. This results in scientific discrimination in the form of extreme separation between "afterlife knowledge" and "worldly knowledge". The infection of this disease has the potential to be more severe if not treated immediately, considering the progress of the era that does not hesitate to crush anyone who cannot compromise with the digital era. The cure for this virus is found in the idea of integrative Islamic religious education initiated by Muslim scholars. Gus Dur is one of the intellectual figures who is loud in speaking about integrative Islamic religious education with a neo-modernist orientation. This study discusses integrative Islamic religious education from Gus Dur's perspective using a literature study method where this research is based on various literature spread across various platforms. The results of this study Gus Dur has a vision of Islamic religious education implemented in formal and non-formal institutions must be structured philosophically in terms of curriculum and learning materials by including three aspects of science; the classical Islamic scientific side, the traditional Indonesian scientific side and the modern scientific side. According to Gus Dur, all three must collaborate in harmony in order to produce the next generation who have competence in the field of Islamic and modern knowledge, appreciate local culture and can be wise in adapting to the progress of the digital era.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in Indonesia face both challenges and opportunities in adapting to the rapid digital transformation in education. The integration of digital technology in Islamic education raises concerns regarding its alignment with Islamic values, disparities in digital literacy, resistance to change, and limited technological infrastructure. Previous studies have highlighted these challenges but have not comprehensively explored effective strategies for managing digital adaptation while preserving the integrity of Islamic teachings. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing interviews, observations, and document analysis involving PAI teachers from various Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia. The findings indicate that successful adaptation to digital transformation requires structured management strategies, including continuous professional development, contextual integration of Islamic values into digital learning, collaborative learning networks, and the development of well-curated digital content. Furthermore, this research proposes a digital-based Islamic education model that emphasizes institutional support, structured technology training for teachers, and the development of Islamic digital learning platforms. The study concludes that the success of digital transformation in Islamic education depends on the collaboration between teachers, educational institutions, and policymakers to ensure that digital learning remains effective and aligned with Islamic educational principles.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the tāsmiʿ method in maintaining the quality of Qur'an memorization among female students of Bait Tāḥfiẓh al-Qur'an (BTQ). BTQ students are active students from various departments who are required to memorize at least 3 juz per year, participate in dormitory activities, and participate in the ma'had program. The main challenges faced by the students include difficulty in dividing time for muraja'ah, lack of enthusiasm, and decreased motivation in maintaining memorization. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques that include observation, in-depth interviews with dormitory heads, administrators, and BTQ members, as well as documentation. The results of the study indicate that the tāsmiʿ method, which is applied routinely, both in the form of individual deposits and group muraja'ah, is effective in maintaining the quality of students' memorization. These activities include daily halaqah, deposits to teachers, partner-an, monthly tasmi’ khatmil, and personal strategies such as repeating memorization every day, marking verses that are often forgotten, and finding muraja’ah friends. The application of this method helps correct reading errors, improve concentration, and strengthen memorization. Students who are consistent show better memorization quality and self-confidence when submitting memorization. Although effective, the implementation of this method still needs improvement so that the results are more optimal.

Abstract

This study explores the influence of two teaching methods in the Al-Qur'an memorization program at SMAN 1 Ngimbang Lamongan, namely the sorogan and musyafahah methods, and their impact on the accuracy and speed of students' memorization. The background of this study is based on the importance of effective teaching of Al-Qur'an memorization in the context of religious education in Indonesia, where the method used can affect students' success in memorizing. Previous studies have shown the effectiveness of the sorogan method, but few have examined the contribution of the more interactive musyafahah method. The research method used is a qualitative case study approach with observation and in-depth interview techniques. Data were collected from students who participated in the Al-Qur'an memorization program using both methods. Data analysis was carried out thematically to assess the differences in the effectiveness of the two methods in improving the accuracy and speed of memorization. The results showed that the musyafahah method, with direct interaction between students, teachers, and classmates, had a more significant impact on accelerating the memorization process and improving the accuracy of students' memorization compared to the sorogan method. These findings emphasize the importance of active involvement in learning, which is in line with constructivist learning theory. However, challenges related to time constraints and varying student motivation were also found to be major obstacles to the success of the memorization program. The implications of this study suggest that a combination of both teaching methods, with an emphasis on social interaction, can optimize the memorization process. This study is expected to contribute to the development of more effective and relevant Qur'an memorization teaching methods in the context of education in Indonesia. In conclusion, this study suggests further research with larger and more diverse samples to deepen the understanding of the factors that influence students' memorization success.

Abstract

The issue of moral decline in the generation of the nation post-globalization, with its various life implications, calls for the development of an adaptive and inclusive concept in the field of education. This study aims to explore Ibn Miskawaih's ideas and their relevance in the context of Education 5.0. It is a qualitative study that uses a library research method, with primary sources including a book by Ibn Miskawaih and secondary sources consisting of various journal articles. Data were gathered from a range of books and articles, then analyzed through content analysis techniques. The findings indicate that Ibn Miskawaih, a prominent Islamic philosopher of the Buwayhi Dynasty during the Abbasid era, contributed significantly to the philosophy of human beings. He believed that humans consist of two essential components: the physical body and the soul, both of which are interconnected in shaping a 'wholesome human' with good morals. Ibn Miskawaih's ideas remain relevant to modern Islamic education, aligning with the educational goals outlined in the National Education System Law (UU Sidiknas) Article 1 of 2003. He argued that moral education should be rooted in the doctrine of moderation and carried out through habituation, where repeated actions eventually shape a child’s or learner’s character. Therefore, every individual has the potential to develop good morals through proper education and guidance.

Abstract

Self-confidence is an attitude and belief in all one's abilities. The existence of problems in everyday life in terms of lack of self-confidence in students is something that must be considered. Self-confidence can be formed and increased through activities that can train students' courage, one of which is through activities muhadhoroh. SD Muhammadiyah Inovatif Mlarak facilitates students to increase their self-confidence through activities muhadhoroh which is held every Saturday. The method in this research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, where data collection techniques use observation, interviews, and filling out questionnaires. Research findings show that through activities muhadhoroh at the SD Muhammadiyah Inovatif Mlarak, it was able to increase students' courage, and many students felt happy to come forward and appear in front of their friends. Students are said to have good self-confidence when they dare to go forward in front of other people without feeling nervous and are able to look at other people who are audience. The implications of this research show that the more students practice speaking or appearing in front of many people, the more they will become accustomed to their courage and self-confidence, which of course will support them to shape and develop their potential in order to achieve achievement. So, it can be concluded that the implementation of activities muhadhoroh at the SD Muhammadiyah Inovatif Mlarak can increase self-confidence well, which in turn can help students to increase their potential.

Abstract

This study explores hadiths concerning the essence, characteristics, and types of learning materials in Islamic education. The Prophet Muhammad SAW’s teachings encompass spiritual, intellectual, and social dimensions, intended to shape a holistic individual (al-insan al-kamil). Using a qualitative method, the research analyzes authentic hadiths from primary sources such as Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Tirmidhi, and Sunan Darimi, supported by educational literature. The findings identify three core characteristics of Islamic learning materials: comprehensiveness, moral orientation, and learner-centeredness. These characteristics align with Islamic educational goals that integrate religious and worldly knowledge. The study classifies learning content into five major domains: aqidah (creed), akhlak (morals), ibadah (worship), the Qur’an, and fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence). Each domain is examined through relevant hadiths, with a focus on sanad (chain of narration) and matan (content) validity. The analysis demonstrates how these hadiths can inform the development of curricula that are spiritually grounded yet responsive to contemporary educational challenges. The integration of pedagogical strategies like problem-based learning reinforces the relevance of prophetic teachings in modern contexts. This research underscores the importance of utilizing hadith-based insights to enhance Islamic education and character formation, ensuring the transmission of authentic values across generations.

Abstract

Moderasi beragama merupakan program utama Kementerian Agama yang diinisiasi oleh mantan Menteri Agama, Lukman Hakim Syaifuddin. Program ini telah dikampanyekan secara masif kepada masyarakat sejak tahun 2019. Kampanye ini juga menyasar institusi pendidikan, mulai dari pendidikan dasar, menengah, sampai pendidikan tinggi. Maka dari itu, penelitian ini bertujuan guna mengetahui corak pemahaman siswa sekolah menengah berbasis Islam yang menjadi anggota kegiatan rohani Islam (rohis). Informan diambil dari delapan siswa rohis dari beberapa sekolah berbasis Islam di Bandar Lampung dan Lampung Tengah. Melalui teknik wawancara mendalam (indepth inerview) yang ditunjang dengan observasi mendapai temuan berikut: pertama, corak pemahaman nilai-nilai moderasi beragama siswa sekolah Islam yang menjadi anggota rohis ini dapat dilihat dari pemahaman mereka terhadap pendidikan agama, cara pandang mereka dalam memahami perbedaan antaragama, serta negosiasi mereka terhadap perbedaan dalam inraagama. Kedua, corak pemahaman nilai-nilai moderasi beragama siswa rohis tergolong moderat, namun pada titik-titik tertentu tergolong semi-moderat. Hal ini tampak dari sebagian narasumber yang mengaku menghindari bergaul dengan temannya yang tidak seagama. Pada akhirnya penelitian ini merekomendasikan kepada institusi sekolah untuk memasukan muatan-muatan materi yang mengandung nilai-nilai moderasi beragama dalam kegiatan pembelajaran secara lebih masif.

Abstract

This study examines the relevance and application of classical Islamic education methods in the modern education system. Educational methods that have developed since the time of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, Khulafaurrasyidin, Banu Umayyah, and Banu Abbasiyah have holistic characteristics that include cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. Methods such as dialogue and question and answer, lectures, stories, as well as demonstrations and hands-on practice have proven to be effective in shaping the character and skills of students. With a qualitative approach based on literature study, this study analyzes the integration of classical methods in modern learning concepts such as deep learning and constructivist pedagogy. The results of the study show that the classical method remains relevant and can be applied in the contemporary Islamic education system to increase deep understanding, critical thinking, and strengthen the character of students. In addition, the classical method also encourages experiential learning, collaboration, and active involvement of students in the educational process. Therefore, the integration of classical Islamic educational values in the modern curriculum is an important strategy in building a generation that is knowledgeable, has strong character, and is ready to face global challenges. Thus, the adaptation of classical methods in modern Islamic education is expected to create a more effective, innovative, and sustainable learning system.
