Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of circuit training on improving aerobic capacity (VO₂Max). The research employed an experimental method using a One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The population consisted of 20 students, all of whom were selected as the research sample through a total sampling technique. The instrument used in this study was an aerobic capacity test to measure VO₂Max before and after the implementation of the circuit training program. The training program was conducted over eight sessions, with training intensity gradually progressing through the adaptation, development, and intensive phases. The circuit training consisted of ten exercise stations: squat jumps, push-ups, sit-ups, back-ups, knee tuck jumps, back-ups with leg raises, squat thrusts, supine leg raises, trunk lifts, and running in place/skipping. The results showed an improvement in aerobic capacity following the circuit training program. The mean pre-test score was 10.63, while the mean post-test score was 9.68, indicating improved performance after eight training sessions. Based on the findings and discussion, it can be concluded that circuit training had a significant effect on the aerobic capacity of volleyball extracurricular students at SMP Negeri 21 Bengkulu City. This was evidenced by the t-test results, where the calculated t-value (5.214) was greater than the critical t-value (1.729) at a significance level of α = 0.05. Furthermore, the average post-test result was better than the pre-test result, indicating an increase in students’ aerobic capacity after participating in the circuit training program. Therefore, circuit training can be considered an effective training method for improving students’ aerobic capacity and cardiorespiratory endurance.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the contribution of agility and speed to the dribbling ability of soccer players at SMA Negeri 7 Bengkulu Selatan. The research employed a correlational quantitative design. The population consisted of all soccer players participating in extracurricular activities at SMA Negeri 7 Bengkulu Selatan, with the sample selected using a total sampling technique. Agility was measured using the Illinois Agility Test, speed was measured using the 30-meter sprint test, and dribbling ability was assessed through a soccer dribbling test. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis to determine both the partial and simultaneous contributions of agility and speed to dribbling ability. The results showed that agility had a significant contribution to dribbling ability, speed also contributed significantly to dribbling performance, and agility and speed simultaneously provided a significant contribution to the dribbling ability of soccer players. Players with better agility and higher speed tended to demonstrate more effective ball control while dribbling during play. These findings indicate that agility and speed are important physical components that support dribbling performance in soccer. In conclusion, agility and speed contribute significantly to the dribbling ability of soccer players at SMA Negeri 7 Bengkulu Selatan. Therefore, coaches and physical education teachers are recommended to incorporate agility and speed training programs to improve players’ dribbling performance and overall soccer skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the triangle training method on the inside-of-the-foot passing skills of participants in the futsal extracurricular program at the Bengkulu Maritime and Fisheries Vocational High School. Passing is one of the most important basic techniques in futsal because it plays a role in maintaining possession, building attacks, and creating scoring opportunities. Based on the observation results, the passing ability of the extracurricular participants was still relatively low, characterized by a lack of passing accuracy, improper body positioning during passing, and minimal off-the-ball movement after passing. To address these issues, the triangle training method was implemented, which involves passing drills conducted in a triangular formation with continuous movement patterns and position exchanges. This study employed a quantitative method with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest design, whereby the participants’ skills were measured before and after the training intervention. The study population consisted of 30 futsal extracurricular participants from the Bengkulu Maritime and Fisheries Vocational School, who were also selected as the study sample using purposive sampling. The instrument used was an accuracy test for inside-of-the-foot passing. The intervention was administered over 16 sessions, after which the data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and a paired-sample t-test with the aid of SPSS software. The results of the study indicate an improvement in passing ability following triangle drills. Pretest scores fell into the low-to-moderate range, while posttest scores improved to the moderate-to-high range. Thus, the triangle drill method has a positive effect on improving inside-of-the-foot passing skills among participants in the futsal extracurricular program at the Bengkulu Maritime and Fisheries Vocational High School.
