Abstract

Bajakah tampala (Spatholobus littoralis Hassk) is one of the most widely grown plants in Central Kalimantan but has not been widely used. This plant has been empirically used to treat various diseases by the Dayak community. Efficacy obtained is suspected due to the presence of various phenol compounds in the plant. But until now there has been no further research to determine the levels of phenols contained therein. This study aims to determine the total phenolic levels in the stem of the Spatholobus littoralis Hassk. Phenolic compounds in the stem are extracted using maceration method with ethanol solvent. Total phenolic levels were determined using the UV-visible spectrophotometric method with Follin-Ciocalteau reagents and as a comparison used gallic acid. The results showed that in phytochemical screening, the stem extracts were contained phenolic compounds, tannins and saponins. Whereas in the quantitative examination it can be concluded that the average total phenolic content of the stem of the Bajakah extract with a concentration of 500 ppm is 12.33 mg GAE/g.

Abstract

Free radicals are factors responsible for the skin's aging process. As a result of free radicals, there is a loss of electrons from its free electron pair which makes it unstable and highly reactive in its outer orbital. The effect of an odd number of electrons on free radicals, there is electron capture from other molecules around it to achieve stability. Compounds that can ward off free radicals are antioxidants. Likopen is an antioxidant with high content found in tomato fruit. Antioxidant activity of Lycopen potentially as antiaging skin. The mechanism of action of lycopene as an antioxidant that affects the skin is by lowering erythema due to exposure to UV rays and lowering the activity of Matrix Metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1), where the enzyme is responsible for increasing the degradation of collagen dilution of the dermis. The occurrence of decreased collagen degradation resulted in reduced roughness to the skin.

Abstract

Antiplatelet is a drug used to prevent excessive formation of b platelets in cardiovascular disease. The use of antiplatelet can cause resistance and side effects and cause death. Red seaweed (Gracilaria verrucosa) contains flavonoids which are polyphenol compounds which have activity can inhibiti platelet aggregation because of their ability to inhibit arachidonic acid released from membrane phospholipids through rapid coordinated activation of phospholipases from cell membranes so that the metabolic pathway of cyclooxygenase becomes inhibited. This study aims to determine the effect of ethanol extract of red seaweed on bleeding time. This method using is experimental study of 5 groups, each group consisted of 5 rats there were group of positif control, negative control, seaweed extract doses ( 300,600,1200)mg/BW with a bleeding time parameter. The results showed that the administration of 600 mg / kg BW Rats could extend the bleeding time in proportion to positive control.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the four priorities of non-communicable diseases in the world, divided into two types (I and II). The incidence of type II DM in Serang is quite high, there were more than 500 outpatients in 2018, with around 70-100 non BPJS patients. This research was conducted to non BPJS patients, in order to see the difference in the cost of using Oral Hypoglycemic Drugs (OHDs), namely Metformin and Glimepirid. Similar research has never been done by UPN Veterans Jakarta in Serang. This study was an observational analytic study using a cross-sectional approach whose data were taken retrospectively. Subjects were non BPJS type II DM outpatients in 2018, aged 20-65 years, and adhering to treatment using Metformin and Glimepirid. The tools used are paper, stationery, computers, and printers. The materials used are patient data obtained from medical records, pharmaceutical installations, and finance. Data were analysed descriptively and tested its normality with Kolmogorov-Smirnov. The results showed the average cost of using Metformin was Rp 1,209,- while Glimepirid was Rp 1,228,-. So it can be concluded that the cost of using Metformin in outpatient type II DM patients in Serang in 2018, is slightly cheaper than Glimepirid.

Abstract

Angsana leaves (Pterocarpus indicus Willd.) contain flavonoids, saponins, tannins, alkaloids, glycosides, triterpenoids, and steroids can be used as an active substances that formulated into antibacterial formulation gel. In this study, ethanolic extracts of Angsana leaves are formulated into gel form to optimize the antibacterial activity from the extracts. The purpose of this study belongs to determine the differences antibacterial activity of ethanolic extracts of Angsana leaves before and after being formulated into gel form. Antibacterial activity test was determined by using disc diffusion method due to Kirby-Bauer method. Based on the results, it showed that formulation contains 0.09 mg extract formed 8 mm inhibition zone and 9 mg extract without formulation formed 16 mm inhibition zone. By comparing the amount of extracts to the inhibitory zone, it is known that extract which formulated into a gel form has greater activity than extract without formulated.

Abstract

Cirrhosis is a diffusion process characterized by fibrosis and changes from normal hepatic structures to structurally abnormal nodules. In general, complications that often occur in hospitalized patients are Spontaneous Bacterial Peritonitis (SBP). Many antibiotic therapies can be used for SBP, for example aminoglycosides, third-generation cephalosporins, penicillins, quinolones and sulfa groups. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there are differences in the effectiveness of antibioics used in SBP therapy. This type of research is observational analytic with cross sectional approach. Retrospective data collection in patients with cirrhosis of the liver with SBP complications in PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Hospital in 2018. Samples are all patients with cirrhosis of the liver with SBP complications who meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sampling method is purposive sampling. The data taken is demographic characteristic data and clinical characteristics. Analysis of the data used in this study is multivariate analysis and different tests. There were 30 samples that met the criteria with a composition of 18 men (60%) and 12 women (40%). There were 8 people who received ceftriaxone antibiotics and 22 people got cefotaxime therapy.

Abstract

Lymphatic filariasis (elephantiasis) is a disease caused by filarial worms transmitted by the Culex sp. Handling this disease can be done by breaking the chain of spread by killing off the Culex sp larvae. Flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and limonoids are chemical compounds that can damage mosquito larvae. Lime leaves (Citrus aurantifolia) have been known to contain these compounds. The aim of this study was to examine the activity of extract of lime leaves on Culex sp. The extracts used were concentrations of 0.25%, 0.50%, 1.00%, and 1.50%, plus temephos 1% as a positive control, and tap water as a negative control. Each test was carried out on 20 Culex sp Instar III larvae observed for 24 hours with 4 repetitions. The results showed that the effective concentration that killed as much as 50% of Culex sp (LD50) mosquito larvae was 0.948%.

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the description of compliance with drug use and the relationship between distance of health services, duration of illness, and other illnesses to compliance with drug use in outpatient hypertension patients in the period January-February 2019 in One Hospital in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This study was an observational study with a cross sectional design. Sampling using a questionnaire using accidental sampling technique as many as 96 patients. Compliance was analyzed using Univariate and Bivariate analysis with the chi square method. The results showed that there were 78 patients in the obedient category (81.3%). Chi square test obtained distance of health service p = 0.462; OR = 1,690 (0,6024,741) and the presence of other diseases p = 0,818; OR = 1,294 (0,464-3,613) there is no significant relationship with compliance; long suffering from hypertension there was a significant relationship with compliance p = 0.005; OR = 6.471 (1,732-24,171). Conclusion, hypertension patients are categorized as obedient 81.3% and there is no significant relationship between distance of health services and other diseases with adherence. But there is a significant relationship between the duration of suffering from hypertension and compliance
