Abstract

Stunting, a persistent global nutritional issue from inadequate care and nutritional intake, becomes evident when a child ages two. Tanah Datar recorded a 21.5% stunting rate in 2022, prompting a targeted service to enhance the literacy of pregnant women, mothers of toddlers, and cadres about the critical first 1000 days of life. Utilizing an interactive game, Emotional Demonstration, and drawing on four modules from the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), the service employed printed modules and game equipment. Held on 10 June 2023 at Wali Nagari Pandai Sikek Hall, the event gathered 20 participants, including pregnant women, mothers, cadres, and X Koto Community Health Center officers. Activities commenced with a pre-test, followed by interactive game-based education, and concluded with a post-test. The community service positively contributed to increased health literacy and awareness in the first 1000 days, validated by significant T-test results (p-value = 0.001), indicating a substantial knowledge improvement post-intervention.

Abstract

Indonesia frequently experiences earthquakes, resulting in significant financial losses and casualties, especially in Padang. A major factor contributing to the high number of victims is the general public's lack of knowledge and preparedness for such disasters. Teenagers, including middle school students, are particularly vulnerable. Consequently, at SMPN 24 in Padang, virtual reality (VR) technology has been introduced to educate students about disaster preparedness. This simulation provided a realistic learning experience, allowing students to practice for emergencies without endangering themselves. At SMPN 24 in Padang, 32 students underwent an earthquake simulation using the VR approach. The results indicated an enhanced understanding of disaster preparedness among the students, with the median comprehension score rising from 59.00 to 60.50. Evaluations suggest that VR technology effectively increases students' disaster awareness and readiness. In summary, thanks to the virtual reality (VR) training, students at SMPN 24 in Padang feel better equipped to face potential earthquake disasters.

Abstract

The village of Sungai Nanam, Lembah Gumanti, is an area in Solok Regency, West Sumatra, that produces significant organic waste from horticultural agriculture. If not managed properly, this waste can cause environmental and aesthetic issues. However, this waste can be converted into an eco-enzyme. An eco-enzyme is a liquid enzyme produced by fermenting organic waste. Eco-enzyme has many benefits, including being used as a liquid organic fertilizer, cleaner, and pest repellent. This community service aims to educate and train the community, especially the women farmers group, named Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Rimbo Data Sejahtera, on converting organic waste into eco-enzymes. The program used three methods: socialization, demonstration, and mentoring. It has been proven to be an effective way to educate and train the community, particularly KWT Rimbo Data Sejahtera, on proper waste management. This program is a perfect fit for their needs and is very useful in reducing the impact of pollution.

Abstract

In order to enhance the quality of goat's milk products and ensure their cleanliness and safety for consumption, it is imperative to standardize the product and enhance its quality through the implementation of pasteurization technology and the utilization of aseptic packaging. Moreover, this initiative aims to enhance the sustainable commercialization of Rokir Farm's dairy products. Products can generate financial gains for companies while providing individuals with high-quality dairy products. Additionally, these items can support government initiatives to ensure food security and address nutritional deficiencies. This activity entails a collaborative effort between universities and partners to address particular challenges partners encounter in product standardization. Other goat milk-producing farmer groups can utilize this activity as a model.

Abstract

The rabbit farming business has great potential to meet the need for animal protein, and currently, many rabbit farming businesses are being cultivated. Farmers face nonoptimal reproductive performance with the currently implemented mating management, so improvement efforts are needed. The community service aimed to implement good breeding practices through communal mating and introducing bucks Rex rabbits to rabbit breeders in Kulonprogo, Yogyakarta. The community service activities were conducted from June to September 2023 at one of the rabbit breeders in Kulonprogo Regency, Yogyakarta. The activities include: 1. initial preparation and coordination, 2. preparation of extension materials, guidebooks (assistance media), 3. Direct training through extension. 4. Implement communal mating, introduce Bucks Rex directly at partner locations, and distribute guidebooks. 5. Monitoring and evaluation of activity results. The enthusiasm of breeders in community service was proven by the presence of 30 breeders in extension and discussion activities with the theme "Kopi Darat Peternak Kelinci Komersial." The results of the application of the communal mating method show farmer satisfaction, with 4 out of 5 rabbits becoming pregnant from the application of this method. Increasing the reproductive performance of the breeder's doe can increase rabbit production, thereby contributing to the breeder's income. Implementing good breeding practices through communal mating and the introduction of bucks Rex rabbits can be a solution for breeders regarding the low productivity of the rabbits.

Abstract

This article aims to determine how product selling prices were determined at MSMEs Karak Kaliang Talua RF. Data collection used the observation method by conducting interviews with the owner, asking several questions related to his business, and documenting the results of the observation visit. Based on the visit results, this business had a reasonably small target market by marketing only entrusting products to traders in traditional markets. The owner expects a profit of IDR 5,000/0.25kg for each product, namely Karak Kaliang Talua and Roti Kariang. The owner of Karak Kaliang Talua RF sets prices based only on estimated cost prices and profit expectations. After processing the data from the interview results, it was found that there was a discrepancy between the selling price set by the owner and the profit expectations.

Abstract

The availability of clean water is a significant factor in ensuring human survival. When there is insufficient water to supply a population adequately, we say there is a water shortage. The water issue is impacting several metropolitan regions worldwide, including Indonesia. In Padang, 22 sub-districts are included in the list of slum sub-districts, including Pasar Ambacang. The current condition requires more community preparedness to face the water crisis. People must be adequately prepared for water crises or be taught how to use available water supplies efficiently. Increasing knowledge about community preparedness in facing the water crisis is essential because increasing public knowledge will increase community preparedness in facing the water crisis. The effort was carried out by distributing leaflets and giving lectures door to door. This exercise increased the percentage of the community prepared to deal with the water situation before and after receiving instruction. It can lessen the number of potential dangers and casualties during a disaster. If the community is prepared, it will be easier to carry out rescue actions when a disaster occurs.
