Abstract

Heat-moisture treatment (HMT) is known as one of physical modification techniques that improves the functional property of starch. Taro beneng starch isolated from taro beneng tuber was modified by HMT to improve its application in the food product. The aim of this research is to determine the physical and functional properties of taro beneng starch modified by HMT. HMT were applied to the taro beneng starch using three different temperatures (90,100, and 100oC). This research was conducted using a randomized-complete design. The results showed that the temperature did not had a significant effect on the whiteness degree and lightness, however had a significant effect on the resistant starch content and flowability of the modified starch. Future studies about its effect on the nutritional and crystallinity characteristics of this starch need to be done to provide a better understanding of the implications of this technique.

Abstract

The quality of palm sugar is greatly influenced by the characteristics of the coconut sap raw material, especially the acidity level (pH), which plays an important role in the crystallization process. The purpose of this study is to analyze the chemical characteristics (reducing sugar content, moisture content, ash content), organoleptic characteristics and panelists' preference levels (color, aroma, taste), and to determine the optimal pH of coconut sap that produces the best palm sugar quality according to quality standards. The research method used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments of sap acidity levels (pH), namely pH 5, pH 6, pH 7, and pH 8. Each treatment was repeated 3 times. The observed parameters included moisture content, ash content, reducing sugar content, as well as an organoleptic test of panelists' preference for the color, aroma, and taste of the resulting palm sugar. The obtained data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and if there were differences among treatments, they were further tested with a 5% LSD test. The study results showed that the resulting palm sugar had: reducing sugar content (3.21-6.17%), moisture content (2.27-3.85%), ash content (7.76-21.53%), and the preference test results for color (slightly like-very like), aroma (slightly like-very like), and taste (slightly like-like). It is concluded that the sap acidity level (pH) significantly affects the moisture and ash content of palm sugar, but does not significantly affect the reducing sugar content. The best brown sugar was obtained at pH 8 treatment, which resulted in a lighter color, smooth texture, low moisture content (2.27%), ash content (15.31%), and reducing sugar content (3.21%).

Abstract

Aglaonema 'Dud Unyamanee' merupakan tanaman hias populer yang menghadapi kendala perbanyakan konvensional yang lambat dan terbatas. Benzyladenine (BA) diketahui dapat merangsang tunas lateral dengan memecah dominasi apikal. Penelitian ini bertujuan menentukan konsentrasi BA terbaik untuk menginduksi tunas Aglaonema 'Dud Unyamanee' secara ex-vitro. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap faktor tunggal dengan empat konsentrasi BA (0, 100, 200, dan 300 ppm). Larutan BA diaplikasikan dengan penyemprotan pada pangkal batang seminggu sekali selama empat minggu. Pengamatan dilakukan hingga 12 minggu setelah aplikasi , meliputi persentase kemunculan tunas, jumlah tunas, panjang tunas, diameter tunas, dan jumlah daun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan aplikasi BA berpengaruh sangat nyata. Perlakuan BA 300 ppm (P3) menunjukkan hasil terbaik, mencapai 100% tunas muncul pada minggu ke-4 , dibandingkan kontrol (0 ppm) yang hanya 41,67% pada minggu ke-12. Konsentrasi 300 ppm juga menghasilkan jumlah tunas (6,83) , panjang tunas (12,93 cm) , diameter tunas (8,92 mm) , dan jumlah daun (13,58 helai) tertinggi. Disimpulkan bahwa aplikasi BA 300 ppm paling efektif untuk mempercepat inisiasi dan meningkatkan pertumbuhan tunas Aglaonema 'Dud Unyamanee'. ABSTRACT Aglaonema 'Dud Unyamanee' is a popular ornamental plant facing constraints from slow and limited conventional propagation methods. Benzyladenine (BA) is known to stimulate lateral shoot growth by breaking apical dominance. This study aimed to determine the most effective concentration of BA for inducing lateral shoots in Aglaonema 'Dud Unyamanee' via ex-vitro application. The research used a single-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four BA concentrations (0, 100, 200, and 300 ppm). The solution was applied by spraying the stem base once a week for four weeks. Observations were made up to 12 weeks after application , measuring shoot emergence percentage, shoot number, shoot length, shoot diameter, and leaf count. The results indicated that BA application had a significant effect. The 300 ppm BA treatment (P3) showed the best results, achieving 100% shoot emergence by week 4 , whereas the control (0 ppm) only reached 41.67% by week 12. The 300 ppm concentration also yielded the highest shoot count (6.83) , shoot length (12.93 cm) , shoot diameter (8.92 mm) , and leaf count (13.58). It is concluded that a 300 ppm BA application is most effective for accelerating initiation and enhancing the growth of Aglaonema 'Dud Unyamanee' lateral shoots.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the chemical and sensory characteristics of marshmallows made from young coconut water and coconut sugar, as natural sources of potassium and sodium. The parameters analyzed include potassium content, sodium content, moisture content, pH, and sensory properties. The study employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications, varying the concentrations of young coconut water and coconut sugar. The results showed that potassium levels ranged from 3,208–4,345 mg/kg and sodium levels from 482–1,083 mg/kg. The resulting marshmallows had relatively high moisture content (28.15–39.38%) and low pH (5.03–5.93). Sensory evaluation indicated good acceptance by panelists, characterized by a chewy texture, distinctive coconut sugar aroma, and natural brown color.

Abstract

The Smallholder Palm Oil Rejuvenation Program (PSR) is a strategic government policy aimed at improving the productivity and sustainability of smallholder oil palm plantations, in which farmer institutions play a pivotal role in ensuring effective implementation. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the role of independent smallholder farmer institutions in supporting the implementation of the PSR program in Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province. A quantitative approach was applied through a survey of 200 independent oil palm farmers, and data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling – Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS software. The results show that Institutional Managerial (β = 0.337; p < 0.001), Institutional Performance (β = 0.329; p < 0.001), and Technical and Productivity (β = 0.317; p < 0.001) have a positive and significant effect on the Institutional Role of smallholder farmers. The model demonstrates strong predictive capability, with an R² value of 0.748, indicating that these factors collectively explain a substantial proportion of the variance in institutional effectiveness. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening internal institutional capacity through sound governance, enhanced performance accountability, and improved technical competence to optimize the role of farmer institutions in supporting the success of the PSR program. The study recommends managerial training, institutional transparency, and technology transfer as key strategies to reinforce the strategic role of farmer institutions in achieving sustainable palm oil smallholder development.

Abstract

Penelitian ini melihat analisis manajemen keuangan petani selama persiapan menghadapi fenomena Bun Upas, saat terjadi fenomena, dan sesudah menghadapi fenomena. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengkaji manajemen keuangan petani dalam menghadapi fenomena Bun Upas di Desa Dieng Kulon, Kabupaten Banjarnegara. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa manajemen keuangan berperan penting bagi ketahanan ekonomi petani Dieng Kulon dalam menghadapi risiko iklim. Dengan mengadaptasi perspektif James C. Van Horne, petani mengelola pendanaan melalui modal pribadi dan pinjaman, berinvestasi pada input pertanian berkualitas serta diversifikasi tanaman, dan mendistribusikan hasil panen untuk konsumsi, tabungan, serta reinvestasi. Strategi ini membuktikan relevansi prinsip manajemen keuangan modern dalam memperkuat ketahanan finansial petani di sektor agraris lokal.

Abstract

Sistem rekomendasi saat ini telah dikembangkan untuk memberikan sekumpulan item yang cocok berdasarkan preferensi pengguna. Pada e-commerce, sistem rekomendasi merupakan alat yang efektif untuk menawarkan produk yang sesuai dengan minat pengguna. Membangun sekumpulan produk yang tepat untuk ditawarkan kepada pengguna merupakan tantangan dalam sistem rekomendasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sistem rekomendasi menggunakan pendekatan collaborative filtering dan algoritma machine learning. Penelitian ini menggunakan data matriks dari rating yang diberikan oleh pengguna terhadap produk, sehingga pemilihan algoritma machine learning perlu diseseuaikan. Hasil terbaik ditunjukkan dari kinerja evaluasi yang diukur menggunakan root mean square error (RMSE), dimana algoritma SVD++ memberikan kinerja yang paling baik yaitu sebesar 0.9846.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pendapatan usahatani tanaman sawi dan kangkung di Kelurahan Rimba Jaya, Kabupaten Merauke. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus pada petani lokal. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan observasi langsung terhadap komponen biaya produksi, penerimaan, serta perhitungan pendapatan bersih. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif dengan rumus rata-rata tanpa uji statistik, karena penelitian ini bersifat berbasis observasi lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa usahatani sawi dan kangkung sama-sama memberikan keuntungan bagi petani, dengan pendapatan bersih sebesar Rp1.050.401/ha/bulan untuk sawi dan Rp1.132.567/ha/bulan untuk kangkung. R/C ratio usahatani sawi sebesar 6,57 dan kangkung sebesar 5,52, yang berarti kedua komoditas tersebut layak dan menguntungkan secara ekonomis. Meskipun biaya produksi kangkung lebih tinggi, volume produksi yang lebih besar membuat pendapatan bersihnya lebih tinggi. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kedua tanaman hortikultura tersebut berpotensi dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan pendapatan petani setempat.

Abstract

Lilin aromaterapi merupakan salah satu inovasi produk yang tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai pencipta suasana dan relaksasi, tetapi juga dapat dikembangkan sebagai agen antinyamuk. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan minyak atsiri dari kulit jeruk kalamansi (Citrofortunella microcarpa L), yang diketahui kaya akan senyawa bioaktif seperti d-limonen dan carvone, sehingga berpotensi menjadi komponen aktif dalam formulasi lilin aromaterapi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan merumuskan empat formulasi lilin aromaterapi yang mengandung minyak atsiri kulit jeruk kalamansi (Citrofortunella microcarpa L) tiap formula mengandung minyak atsiri F0 0%, F110%, F2 12,5%, dan F3 15%, pengujian sediaan meliputi uji organoleptis, uji waktu bakar, uji efektivitas terhadap nyamuk, serta uji hedonik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lilin aromaterapi dengan minyak atsiri kulit jeruk kalamansi efektif sebagai repelan alami. Dimana Formula F3 dengan konsentrasi 15% merupakan sediaan yang paling optimal,sehingga menghasilkan aktivitas anti nyamuk hingga 80% nyamuk,

Abstract

The use of local ameliorants has the potential to be an effective solution in improving the quality of post-tin mining soil that is poor in nutrients and has a coarse texture. This study aims to analyze the effect of oil palm bunch ash, coconut shell ash, and chicken manure on the germination of two kale varieties (Nemo and Nita) in degraded media. The study used a two-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) at the Precision Agriculture Laboratory of the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic. The parameters observed included plumule length, radicle, fresh weight of seedlings, fresh weight of roots, and dry weight of roots. The results showed that the percentage and germination capacity did not differ significantly between treatments. However, radicle length, fresh weight, and dry weight of seedlings showed a significant effect, with the best response achieved by the coconut shell ash and oil palm bunch ash treatments. Local ameliorants also caused positive changes in soil physical properties, especially in the color and texture of the media. In conclusion, local ameliorants proved effective in improving the initial conditions of post-mining soil and successfully supported kale germination.
