Abstract

PT XYZ is one of the companies engaged in the precast concrete manufacturing industry which is specially designed to meet the needs of industrial markets such as high-quality building and building construction. The machine under study is the machine used for assembling the spun pile reinforcement frame in the rotary workshop. The purpose of this study is to analyze the application of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) through the effectiveness and efficiency of heading machine performance and analyze the factors that affect the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) value and present a proposed heading machine maintenance strategy. The method used is OEE with Six Big Losses analysis. For the analysis of the six big losses on the OEE value, namely the value of Idle and minor stoppage (a decrease due to many machine stops) which is a factor that has the largest percentage of the six big losses with a resulting factor value of 7.0%. Then followed by reduced speed losses (decrease in engine speed) of 3.96% and then deffect losses of 3.48% and the three other factor values, namely breakdown losses, setup losses, and yield losses. Measurement of the level of effectiveness and efficiency of the heading machine at PT XYZ using the OEE method for the period 2022 in January - December obtained an average value of 78.28%. The resulting value is still far from the ideal OEE standard value of 85% which refers to the world class standard. The lowest OEE factor value is obtained from the calculation of Performance Efficiency of 86.29% where it is necessary to update the machine maintenance scheduling so as to increase the efficiency of the heading machine performance that supports the production speed of the company.

Abstract

Distribution is the process of distributing goods from source to destination. The main problem with distribution is the inefficiencies in distribution costs. The distribution problem can be solved by transportation methods. The transportation method is carried out in two stages, namely finding the initial solution then looking for the optimal solution. This study uses Improved Vogel's Approximation Method (IVAM) initial solution method and Modified Distribution Method (MODI) as the optimal solution method in distributing 3 Kg LPG gas PT. Sinar Putra Pertam. This study aims to find out how IVAM and MODI work in getting optimal solutions, and compare the results of these calculations with the calculation of 3 Kg LPG gas distribution costs from the company. In this study, there were 2 sources of LPG gas filling which were distributed using a fleet of colt trucks to 15 destinations. The distribution cost is calculated based on fleet fuel consumption. The results of the initial solution calculation show IVAM requires three iterations to get a solution. While the calculation results of the MODI optimization test require one iteration to achieve the optimal solution. The distribution cost using IVAM and MODI is the same amounting to IDR 6,816,230.00 so that it is smaller than the conventional calculation results from the company, which is IDR 9,307,000.00. Based on these results, the transportation method used in this study can save 26.76% of the total distribution cost.

Abstract

The supply chain system will greatly affect the distribution channel that will be targeted, thereby affecting the availability of products and also the fulfillment of needs for the community. Sidoarjo Regency has the potential to produce watermelons independently; this is supported because Sidoarjo Regency is included in the Gerbangkartasusila region, with Surabaya City as one of the main supporting districts. Watermelon fruit has a very abundant amount of production in Sidoarjo Regency, but watermelon fruit is a seasonal fruit with erratic public consumption and tends to decrease, causing an excess supply of watermelon. Therefore, this research was conducted to determine supply chain behavior, then model and simulate it, as well as design a model for improving the watermelon supply chain in Sidoarjo Regency. Through a system dynamics simulation approach using Vensim software, the results show that the amount of watermelon stock in Sidoarjo is affected by production, consumption, and depreciation values. Then, the current total production of watermelons will be 1110 quintals in 2021. Through a simulation of the improvement model design with the addition of other regional distributions and the assumption of a distribution of 350 tons/year for the next 5 years, the supply of watermelons is still able to meet the needs of the people of Sidoarjo Regency. The improvement model reduces excess inventory in Sidoarjo Regency.

Abstract

Gesit Tahu is a small-scale factory engaged in the tofu industry, in the production process is closely related to the supply of the main raw material, namely soybeans. Gesit Tahu has not been optimal in controlling the level of raw material inventory where this factory has experienced a shortage of soybean inventory due to high demand, so it requires a method that can optimize raw material purchases and minimize inventory costs, the right method in solving this problem is using the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method. The purpose of this study is to determine the inventory control of Gesit Tahu soybean raw materials by comparing the current inventory management policy at the factory and using the EOQ method. The results of this study that inventory control is more efficient using the EOQ method, it is proven that it can make savings from the cost factor that must be incurred, it can be seen that if the Gesit Tahu factory applies the EOQ method, namely IDR 2,223,077,461, it is a minimum compared to the factory policy method within one year, which is IDR 2,223,619,662. The optimal order quantity for soybean needs is 72.87 sacks (73 sacks) for one order. The frequency of ordering soybean needs is 43.49 or 44 times/year. The calculation of safety stock to anticipate unexpected shortages is 1.64 sacks or 2 sacks. The calculation of the reorder point obtained to determine the point at which the order is placed again so that the ordered goods arrive on time before the inventory runs out is 21.93 sacks or 22 sacks.

Abstract

One of the MSMEs (Micro, Small Medium Enterprise) in the food sector located in Cibuaya Karawang area, namely Opak Ketan MSMEs, still carries out the opak production process manually, resulting in various shapes and diameters of opak. Opak ketan itself is made from a type of opak with different sizes and thicknesses, such as larger and thicker opak, and smaller opak with thin thickness and a crisp texture due to being baked. According to field analysis and interviews conducted at the research site, the manual production process presents difficulties and causes fatigue for workers, particularly in the formation of opak diameter and thickness. The printing process is done one by one (repeatedly), making it time-consuming and causing fatigue for workers who sit for long periods. As a result, the shape and thickness of opak lack precision (inconsistencies in size), leading to a lack of standardization. In terms of work activities, workers easily experience fatigue, particularly in their hands, waist, and back due to repetitive static movements. Ergonomically, working conditions are a factor that can enhance productivity, safety, and comfort for workers. Therefore, there is a need for the development and design of a suitable technology innovation model that can facilitate opak workers by creating a tool for printing opak ketan using an opak printing machine. This innovation can influence increased production capacity to be faster and standardized in shape and thickness. This design also applies the House of Quality (HOQ) model which successfully links consumer desires with a product design which produces 10 assumed criteria and 15 characteristics in order of importance. So it is concluded that the first priority that needs to be taken into account is determining price, flexibility and engine resources (fuel).

Abstract

PT. XYZ is a company that produces plywood. The issue faced by this company is the increasing risk of defective plywood products resulting from the production process. This research conducts a risk analysis of rejected defective products using the Statistical Process Control (SPC) method to identify the types of defects and their causes, as well as the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA). Based on production data from January 2022 to April 2023, PT. XYZ Samarinda has produced 6,629,815 plywood pieces, with 356,137 rejected defective products. There are 10 types of defects, namely delamination defects, blisters, 2x process fractures, impacts, cores that are too narrow, patches, defective sander F/B, F/B too narrow, defective press F/B, and uneven cores. The results obtained from the SPC method indicate that there are four priority defect types: delamination defects, blisters, 2x process fractures, and impacts. According to the FMEA method, the most risky cause for delamination defects is applying a layer of adhesive that is too thin, with an RPN value of 280. The most risky cause for blister defects is an excessively high adhesive dose, with an RPN value of 180. The most risky cause for 2x process fractures is excessive pressure during the core scratching process that penetrates the F/B, with an RPN value of 210. The most risky cause for impact defects is careless workers when moving plywood lots using a cart, with an RPN value of 144. Subsequently, improvement proposals are made using the 5W+1H method to determine the causes of defects and the necessary improvements that the company should undertake.
