Abstract

Diarrheal disease in children remains a major public health problem in Indonesia, particularly among children under five years old. Limited access to healthcare services and medical experts in several regions often causes delays in the diagnosis and treatment process, increasing the risk of dehydration and mortality. Previous studies on expert systems in the healthcare field have generally focused on common diseases and have rarely discussed web-based diagnosis systems specifically designed for childhood diarrheal diseases using the Naïve Bayes method and real medical record data. Therefore, this study aims to develop a web-based expert system capable of assisting the early diagnosis of diarrheal diseases in children using the Naïve Bayes classification method. The research process involved literature studies, expert interviews, medical record data collection from 50 patients at Depok III Public Health Center, system design using Unified Modeling Language (UML), implementation using PHP and MySQL, and system validation testing. The Naïve Bayes method was applied to calculate the probability of seven categories of diarrheal diseases based on user-selected symptoms. The testing results demonstrated that the developed system achieved an accuracy level of 94% compared to expert diagnoses. These findings indicate that the proposed expert system can provide fast and accurate preliminary diagnoses and can support parents and healthcare workers in identifying diarrheal diseases in children more effectively.

Abstract

The development of construction technology drives the need for lighter, more efficient, and environmentally friendly building materials. One of the developing innovations is the use of Cellular Lightweight Concrete (CLC) lightweight bricks that utilize foam agents as air cavity formers in the concrete mixture. This study aims to analyze the effect of the use of Gunung Sugih sand and variations in foam agents on the characteristics of Cellular Lightweight Concrete (CLC) lightweight bricks, especially in terms of volume weight and compressive strength. The study used an experimental method with a cube-shaped test object measuring 15 cm × 15 cm × 15 cm so that the cement requirement was 26 kg, Gunung Sugih sand 48.3 kg, water 8.8 liters, with variations in foam agents of 0.4 lt/m3, 0.6 lt/m3, 0.8 lt/m3, and 1 lt/m3. Material testing includes fine aggregate specific gravity, absorption, volume weight, mud content, and sieve analysis. Compressive strength testing was carried out at the age of 28 days using a Compression Testing Machine. The results of the study showed that the addition of foam agent had an effect on reducing the volume weight and compressive strength of CLC lightweight bricks. The volume weight and compressive strength of Cellular Lightweight Concrete (CLC) lightweight bricks for foam agent variations of 0.4 lt/m³, 0.6 lt/m³, 0.8 lt/m³, and 1 lt/m³ have met the requirements as lightweight bricks that are able to float. The compressive strength value decreases with increasing foam agent content, with values of 36.50 kg/cm² (3.58 Mpa), 27.08 kg/cm² (2.66 Mpa), 22.50 kg/cm² (2.21 Mpa), and 13.84 kg/cm² (1.36 Mpa), respectively. The optimal mixture composition is obtained at a foam agent variation of 0.4 lt/m³ because it provides the best balance between compressive strength and volume weight, so it can be recommended as the most effective composition in the Cellular Lightweight Concrete (CLC) lightweight brick mixture.

Abstract

Leftover banana peels and orange peels are organic waste that can be used as a raw material for alternative energy in the form of biobriquettes. The high consumption of bananas and oranges in Balikpapan City has led to an increase in the amount of fruit peel waste, necessitating efforts to utilize this waste in a more optimal and environmentally friendly manner. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of biobriquettes made from banana peels and orange peels based on their calorific value, water content, and ash content, in accordance with SNI No. 1/6235/2000 standards. The research method employed was an experimental approach, utilizing varying particle sizes of 60 and 80 mesh, varying amounts of tapioca starch adhesive of 5% and 10%, and varying molding pressures of 2 tons and 4 tons. The stages of briquette production include drying, carbonization, charcoal refining, filtering, mixing the adhesive, molding, and re-drying. The study results showed that the best variation was obtained in 80 mesh briquettes with 5% adhesive and 4 tons of pressure, resulting in a calorific value of 6188.7 Cal/g, a moisture content of 6.27%, and an ash content of 7.42%. These results indicate that finer particles and higher molding pressure can improve briquette quality, as they produce a denser and more homogeneous structure, resulting in a more efficient combustion process. Meanwhile, excessive use of adhesive results in increased moisture and ash content and reduces the briquette’s calorific value. The results indicate that banana and orange peel waste have promising potential to be developed as a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative energy source.

Abstract

Shallot is an important horticultural commodity which its productivity needs to be increased due to their imperative role in society. The solution offered in this research is the use of fish waste organic fertilizer that has high nutrient N, P, and K levels. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of organic fish waste fertilizer and its effect on shallot growth and yield. This research had been conducted in Bengkulu City from June to November 2025. Fish waste organic fertilizer was made using anaerobically fermented method using a local bioactivator made from bamboo shoots. A field study with a completely randomized design was conducted to test the effect of the application of different doses of organic fish waste fertilizer on shallot crop plants. The main results of this study proved that organic fish waste fertilizer had high nutrient contents of N, P, and K, totally 5.62%. this amount is exceeding the national minimum standard for organic fertilizer, which is 2.0%. The application of organic fish waste fertilizer increased the growth and yield of shallot. Shallot yields increased from 1,89 to 13.33 tons per hectare, respectively with doses of 0 and 15 tons per hectare of organic fish waste fertilizer. Local bioactivator and organic fish waste fertilizer have proven to be innovative solutions for increasing shallot productivity

Abstract

Cocopeat, a by-product of coconut coir, has great potential as an environmentally friendly planting medium because it has high water absorption and retention. The handling of bulk cocopeat poses logistical challenges in storage and distribution. This study aims to determine the minimum pressure and compressive force required to form a stable cocopeat block as the basis for the design of a pressing machine. The experiment was carried out using hydraulic pressure variations of 10 to 50 bar with a holding time of 10 seconds, utilizing the initial volume of cocopeat of 8 liters in a mold with dimensions of 200 × 200 mm. To ensure the reliability of the data, each variation was tested on three specimens. Evaluation parameters include block thickness, durability of drop test, and rehydration (expansion). The results showed that the increased pressure significantly lowered the block thickness from 90.78 mm (10 bar) to 56 mm (50 bar) through increased material compaction. The low standard deviation (1.32–1.50 mm) confirms the high dimensional consistency between specimens. Blocks pressed at pressures of 10–20 bar fail the drop test, while pressures between 30–50 bar result in a sturdy, structurally stable block. After 5 liters of water were added, the entire sample managed to expand back to a final volume ranging from 9.55–9.85 liters. A pressure of 30 bar, which produces a force of 184,725 N, is recommended as the optimal design base; This value is sufficient to produce a resilient Cocopeat block that passes the drop test while optimizing the mechanical force requirements of the engine.

Abstract

Rivers in East Kalimantan serve as the primary raw water source for most of the population, making water quality monitoring an urgent priority. This study aims to model Dissolved Oxygen (DO) as a river water quality indicator in East Kalimantan, and to identify the factors influencing DO levels through the Mixed Geographically Weighted Regression (MGWR) approach. MGWR is a useful tool for modeling regression relationships where the impact of some explanatory variables on the response variable is global, while the influence of others varies spatially. This study uses secondary data, namely the 2025 surface water quality monitoring analysis report  sourced from the Environmental Agency of East Kalimantan. The sample size consists of 27 observation points of Class I river water quality in East Kalimantan in 2025. The spatial weighting is computed using an adaptive Bi-Squares kernel function,  and the optimal bandwidth is selected using Generalized Cross-Validation (GCV) criterion . The results showed that the MGWR model outperformed both the linier regression and Geogrpahically Weighted Regression (GWR) models, yielding  a GCV of 0,003,  R² of  0,940, an AIC of  −75,762, and  RMSE of 0,175. BOD, sulfate concentration, and TDS were found to globally influence DO levels, while pH exhibited a spatially varying local influence across observation sites. The results of this study can serve as a basis for policy-making in river water quality monitoring in East Kalimantan. These findings are expected to assist the government in formulating more effective and targeted policies for river water quality management in East Kalimantan.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve students’ understanding of the concept of living organism classification through the use of the Wordwall digital learning media in an inclusive junior high school setting, particularly for students identified as slow learners. The study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of two cycles: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants were 23 seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Muara Wahau, with specific attention given to one student identified as having slow learning characteristics. Data were collected through observations, tests, and documentation and analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The findings indicated improvements in both the learning process and learning outcomes. Teacher activity increased from 71.87% in the first meeting of Cycle I to 90.62% in the second meeting of Cycle II. Student activity also improved from 58.47% to 75.85% over the same period. Learning achievement showed a notable increase, with the average score rising from 63.04 in the preliminary assessment to 78.70 at the end of Cycle II. No students remained in the low-achievement category, while 56.52% reached the high category and 43.48% were classified in the medium category. The results suggest that Wordwall effectively supports conceptual understanding of living organism classification by providing interactive, engaging, and accessible learning experiences. The media was particularly helpful in facilitating participation and conceptual development among students in inclusive classrooms.

Abstract

Approximately 2.89% of the world’s carbon footprint can be attributed to the shipping sector. To mitigate this impact, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) established the MARPOL Annex VI regulations, which impose stringent limits on sulfur oxides (SO_x), nitrogen oxides (NO_x), and carbon dioxide (CO_2) emissions. As an archipelagic nation, Indonesia faces unique strategic and operational challenges in achieving regulatory compliance. This study evaluates the implementation of MARPOL Annex VI at Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya, utilizing a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis framework. A mixed-methods approach was employed, integrating qualitative insights with quantitative data derived from stakeholder questionnaires. The analysis identifies key internal and external factors influencing the adoption of green shipping practices. Findings indicate that Indonesia’s transition requires a tripartite strategy: robust regulatory frameworks, technological innovation, and human capital development. Key recommendations include strengthening the enforcement of monitoring systems—specifically Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV)—and introducing economic instruments such as an Emissions Trading System (ETS). Furthermore, the adoption of energy-efficient technologies and alternative marine fuels is critical. This research aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 7, 9, 13, and 14, providing a roadmap to enhance the maritime industry's competitiveness while contributing to global decarbonization targets.

Abstract

This study uses the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to analyse how well Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Samarinda's Academic Information System is received by the general public. Academic administration and the quality of services provided to students and faculty are both greatly enhanced by the use of information technology in today's higher education institutions. This study delves deep into the elements that influence users' attitudes, behavioural intentions, and actual system utilisation, specifically examining the impact of perceived utility and perceived ease of use. Academic Information System users at Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Samarinda were surveyed using questionnaires to gather data. In addition, the data was examined in order to determine the connections between the TAM framework variables. In order to help the university improve service quality and create a more effective, efficient, and user-oriented system, this research is anticipated to explain the level of user acceptability of the academic information system. Additionally, this study has the potential to be a reference for future research on the topic of educational technology adoption.

Abstract

The ability to identify Hijaiyah letters is a fundamental prerequisite for learning to read the Qur’an. However, some elementary school students continue to experience difficulties in recognizing, distinguishing, and pronouncing Hijaiyah letters correctly. This study aimed to improve the Hijaiyah letter identification ability of fourth-grade students with learning difficulties through the implementation of the Iqro’ method assisted by Hijaiyah letter card media. The study employed a Classroom Action Research design based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of two cycles, with each cycle including planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected through observation, tests, documentation, and field notes. The findings revealed a substantial improvement in students’ Hijaiyah letter identification ability across the research cycles. The average score increased from 42.5% in the pre-cycle stage to 67.5% in Cycle I and further improved to 90% in Cycle II. Improvements were also observed in student participation during the learning process, increasing from 70% in Cycle I to 90% in Cycle II. The use of the Iqro’ method combined with Hijaiyah letter card media provided concrete learning experiences that facilitated letter recognition, strengthened visual memory, and increased student engagement. These findings indicate that the integration of the Iqro’ method and Hijaiyah letter card media is effective in improving Hijaiyah letter identification skills among elementary school students with learning difficulties.
