Abstract

Contextual numeracy is an essential competency for applying mathematical knowledge in real-life situations; however, its empirical profile among elementary school students in Indonesia remains underexplored. This study aimed to describe the contextual numeracy skills of fifth-grade elementary school students based on the PISA cognitive process domains, namely Formulate, Employ, and Interpret/Evaluate, as well as five situational contexts: personal, occupational, societal, scientific, and cultural. A quantitative descriptive design was employed involving 56 students from two fifth-grade classes in one elementary school in Samarinda, while another class in the same school was used for instrument tryout. The instrument was developed based on the AKM and PISA frameworks and consisted of 10 multi-format items. The instrument demonstrated strong content validity (CVI = 0.92) and good reliability (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.81). The results showed that students’ contextual numeracy skills were generally low, with a mean score of 3.96 out of 10. Among the cognitive process domains, Employ showed the highest achievement, while Formulate and Interpret/Evaluate showed lower achievement. Higher performance also appeared on societal items than on personal and occupational items. However, these differences should be interpreted in light of the study design and the limited and uneven representation of items across contexts and formats. The findings provide a local diagnostic profile that may support more targeted context-based mathematics learning in elementary school settings.

Abstract

The increasing use of electric vehicles poses challenges in managing batteries that have reached the end of their lifespan, making user behavior in recycling an important factor in supporting the sustainability of the electric vehicle system. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the recycling behavior of electric vehicle batteries among electric vehicle users in East Kalimantan by using part of the Comprehensive Action Determination Model (CADM). The study employs multiple linear regression to examine the effects of Perceived Behavioral Control (PBC), Recycling Intention (RI), and Recycling Habit (RH) on Recycling Behavior (RB). Data were collected from the perceptions of 82 electric vehicle users in East Kalimantan through a questionnaire. The results show that RH significantly affects RB, while PBC and RI do not have a partial effect. However, all three variables simultaneously influence the recycling behavior of electric vehicle batteries. These findings indicate that habit formation plays a crucial role in encouraging recycling behavior. Therefore, improving recycling behavior should begin with forming recycling habits in the community, which can then be strengthened through increased knowledge and intention. The government can support this by promoting awareness of electric vehicle battery waste management and gradually strengthening recycling programs to habituate the public to recycling activities

Abstract

Artificial insemination (AI) enhances beef cattle productivity and genetic quality, yet its success in smallholder systems depends on farmers’ technical knowledge, especially estrus detection and insemination timing. This study examined farmers’ knowledge of AI, factors influencing that knowledge, and related capacity-building strategies. An exploratory explanatory survey was conducted with 40 purposively selected beef cattle farmers involved in AI programs in North Samarinda, East Kalimantan. Farmers’ knowledge was measured using indicators covering AI concepts, estrus signs, insemination timing, and reproductive management. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, multiple linear regression, and SWOT analysis. Results showed that farmers’ knowledge was generally good to very good, although weaknesses remained in estrus detection and insemination timing. Non-formal education significantly improved knowledge, while longer farming experience had a significant negative effect. Farming role was not significant. SWOT results supported SO strategies, prioritizing non-formal education, technology-based extension, and continuous mentoring.

Abstract

Abstract— This study aims to analyze the effect of financial technology on banking financial performance and examine the moderating role of intellectual capital in strengthening this relationship in the Indonesian banking industry. The study applies a quantitative approach using explanatory research with panel data analysis. The research sample consists of 15 state-owned and private commercial banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2021–2024 period, resulting in 60 panel observations. Financial performance is proxied by Return on Assets (ROA), financial technology is measured using the Fintech Index through the Weighted Fintech Disclosure Index (WFDI), while intellectual capital is proxied by Value Added Intellectual Coefficient (VAIC). Data analysis employs panel data regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) using EViews 14 software. The results indicate that financial technology has a significant effect on financial performance, although the relationship shows a negative direction in the short term due to high digital transformation investment costs and operational adjustments. Furthermore, intellectual capital is proven to strengthen the relationship between financial technology and financial performance. These findings imply that the effectiveness of digital transformation in the banking sector is not solely determined by technology adoption, but also by the company’s ability to manage knowledge, innovation, and human resource competencies effectively. This study extends the Resource-Based View Theory by emphasizing the strategic synergy between digital technology and intellectual capital in improving banking competitiveness and financial sustainability in the digital transformation era.

Abstract

Project-based learning (PBL) has been increasingly adopted in vocational higher education as a pedagogical approach that integrates technical skill development with interpersonal competency formation. However, the role of cultural and religious character values in shaping student cooperation within PBL environments remains underexplored, particularly in the Indonesian vocational context. This research examines how Islamic character values, namely amanah (trustworthiness), ta'awun (mutual assistance), and musyawarah (deliberation), were expressed and reinforced within the PBL structure implemented in the Wood Engineering study at Politeknik Pertanian Negeri Samarinda, and how this contributed to the development of student cooperation skills. A qualitative descriptive case study was employed, involving 44 fourth-semester students in eleven working groups across multiple wood engineering courses. Data were collected through structured in-depth interviews, participatory observation across 32 sessions, eleven focus group discussions, and document analysis. Thematic analysis following Braun and Clarke six-phase framework was applied, with inter-rater reliability of Cohen Kappa 0.86. Findings suggest that the project structure created favorable conditions for the expression and reinforcement of these character values, though the degree of internalization varied considerably across groups and individual students. The study contributes an empirically grounded illustration of how Islamic character values and cooperative behavior interact within authentic vocational project work, while acknowledging the context-specific nature of the findings

Abstract

This study provides a dynamic panel analysis of the relationship between blue economy development and income inequality across 32 Indonesian provinces over the period 2019–2025. Focusing on the fisheries sector as a key and measurable component of blue economy activities in Indonesia, the analysis System GMM estimation to address endogeneity and Nickell bias, the analysis yields several key findings. Income inequality exhibits strong temporal persistence, with a lagged Gini coefficient of 0.8108, indicating that approximately 81% of inequality carries over from one year to the next. F isheries sector development , measured by the fisheries sector’s contribution to provincial GRDP, shows no statistically significant effect on income inequality at the aggregate level. Human capital development significantly reduces inequality. Heterogeneity analysis reveals that inequality persistence is higher in low blue economy provinces, than in high blue economy provinces. Human capital development remains a significant equalizing factor in both subsamples. These results show that the development of the fisheries sector in blue economies does not automatically translate into reduced inequality, The benefits of its distribution depend on the complement factors such as infrastructure, institutional capacity, and human capital investment. The findings offer important policy implications for designing more targeted and context sensitive blue economy strategies in Indonesia.

Abstract

High academic demands, career pressures, and social expectations among Generation Z master’s students may increase the risk of experiencing a quarter-life crisis. This study aims to analyze the relationship between emotion regulation strategies, namely cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression, and quarter-life crisis among Generation Z master’s students. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. The participants were 204 master’s students from the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, selected using proportional stratified sampling. The instruments used were the Quarter-Life Crisis Scale and the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ). Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS. The results revealed that cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression simultaneously had a significant relationship with quarter-life crisis. Specifically, cognitive reappraisal was significantly negatively associated with quarter-life crisis, while expressive suppression showed a positive significant association. The contribution of both emotion regulation strategies to quarter-life crisis was 24.4%. These findings indicate that adaptive emotion regulation strategies such as cognitive reappraisal serve as protective factors, whereas expressive suppression may act as a risk factor in increasing quarter-life crisis among Generation Z master’s students.

Abstract

Employee performance assessment is a strategic function in human resource management. However, many companies, including PT. Wijaya Manggala Premier Lestari, still conduct manual evaluations based on limited indicators such as total working days. This study aims to classify employee performance using the K-Nearest Neighbors algorithm based on attendance data from the Mekari Talenta platform. The primary dataset consisted of one hundred twenty two employee records from March 2026, with attendance data from the three preceding months (December 2025 to February 2026) used to verify the consistency of individual attendance patterns. The methodology followed the Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining framework. Eight numerical features were extracted from attendance codes: total small late, total big late, total paid leave, total absence, total unpaid leave, total working day deductions, total working days, and attendance percentage. The K-Nearest Neighbors model was evaluated using five fold stratified cross-validation with K values of 3, 5, and 7. The model with K = 5 achieved the highest performance among the tested K values, with an average accuracy of 89%, precision of 91%, recall of 88%, and F1 score of 89% across all five folds. The confusion matrix confirmed that the model effectively distinguishes between good and poor performers. This research provides a practical, automated classification framework that transforms raw attendance logs into objective performance insights using the Java programming language.
