Abstract

The rapid growth of Android-based games has increased the demand for applications that not only provide engaging gameplay mechanics but also incorporate features that support user experience. However, previous studies on endless runner games have primarily focused on core gameplay mechanics and system functionality, with limited attention to supporting features related to player motivation and engagement. Therefore, this study aims to design and develop Escape the Virus, a 2D Android-based endless runner game, and evaluate user responses to the implementation of a local high score system and a progressive level mechanism. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method, which consists of the concept, design, material collecting, assembly, testing, and distribution stages. The game was developed using Unity with an obstacle avoidance concept and a scoring system based on the player's ability to avoid obstacles. System testing was conducted using Black Box Testing, while user evaluation involved 100 respondents through a Likert-scale questionnaire. The testing results indicated that all game features functioned according to the designed specifications. User evaluation showed positive responses, with average scores of 4.22 for active participation, 4.26 for playing motivation, and 4.21 for level progression. In addition, the local high score system and progressive level mechanism received positive responses from users and were perceived as features that support motivation and engagement during gameplay. These findings indicate that the integration of supporting features in an Android-based endless runner game was positively received by users during the evaluation process.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a School Profile Information System based on digital branding to support promotional strategies and strengthen the institutional image of SMP Negeri 5 Samarinda. The developed system is designed as a web-based information and promotion medium to facilitate users in accessing school-related information effectively and interactively. The research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method to produce and evaluate the quality of the developed system. Data collection techniques included observation and interviews to identify user needs and system requirements. System quality evaluation was conducted using the ISO 9126 standard, focusing on four aspects: functionality, usability, portability, and reliability. The functionality and portability tests were analyzed using the Guttman scale and obtained a score of 1, indicating that the system was categorized as “feasible.” The usability aspect was evaluated using a Likert scale and achieved a percentage score of 83%, categorized as “very good.” Meanwhile, the reliability test also obtained a score of 1, indicating that the system met the reliability criteria. The results of this study indicate that the developed School Profile Information System is feasible to be used as a digital branding medium to support school promotional activities and improve institutional image.

Abstract

Loading and unloading activities at container depots are critical components of the logistics chain and pose significant risks to worker safety and operational continuity. Most port-related accidents are associated with cargo transportation and uncontrolled loading and unloading operations. This study aimed to identify and visualize the causes and risk consequences of loading and unloading activities at a container depot using the Bowtie Analysis method. A semi-quantitative approach was employed through field observations, interviews, and risk assessment at a container depot in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, from March to April 2026.  Risk assessment was conducted using a 5x5 matrix based on likelihood and severity levels. The results identified three medium-category risks with a risk score of 6, namely operational disruption caused by handling equipment, fraud during manual unloading operations, and fraud during manual loading operations. The findings highlight that effective risk identification and visualization, strong coordination, workforce competency improvement, and the implementation of an optimal work system are essential to minimizing operational risks, maintaining business continuity, and enhancing competitiveness in the logistics industry.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effect of digital media-based promotion, perceived ease of use, and trust on perceived consumer purchase intention from MSME owners’ perspective in Fatukoa Village, Kupang City. The study is based on the increasing need for local MSMEs to adopt digital promotion strategies as market interaction becomes more connected to online platforms. A quantitative approach with an associative-verificative design was applied. Data were collected from 68 MSME owners selected through purposive sampling, with criteria including business actors who had used digital media for promotion or sales activities. The data were gathered through structured questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings show that digital media-based promotion has a positive and significant effect on perceived consumer purchase intention, indicating that attractive, informative, and consistent promotional content strengthens MSME owners’ assessment of consumer purchase interest. Trust also has a positive and significant effect, showing that seller honesty, transaction security, product quality consistency, and business reputation are important in shaping perceived consumer purchase intention. Meanwhile, perceived ease of use has a significant but negative effect, indicating that ease of using digital platforms alone does not automatically strengthen perceived consumer purchase intention. Simultaneously, the three variables significantly influence perceived consumer purchase intention, although the R Square value of 24.6% shows that other determinants remain outside the model. These findings contribute to MSME digital marketing literature by offering an actor-based perspective, where purchase intention is understood as MSME owners’ assessment of observable consumer responses rather than direct self-reported intention from consumers.

Abstract

Chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) is a key proxy for assessing phytoplankton biomass and trophic status of coastal waters. This study analyzes spatiotemporal Chl-a dynamics across three Areas of Interest (AOIs) in the Mahakam Delta coastal waters, East Kalimantan, Indonesia: Delta Mahakam (DM), Muara Badak-Marangkayu (MB), and Muara Jawa-Samboja (MJ). Monthly Chl-a data from the Copernicus Marine Ocean Color V6 (CMEMS) product were processed through Google Earth Engine from 2014 to 2024. DM recorded the highest mean Chl-a (5.30 ± 1.02 mg/m³), followed by MJ (3.01 ± 0.83 mg/m³) and MB (1.76 ± 0.60 mg/m³). Under OECD classification, DM was dominantly mesotrophic, MB oligotrophic, and MJ showed the only statistically significant increasing trend (R² = 0.518, p = 0.013). Chl-a peaked during the rainy season (October–March), driven by monsoonal riverine nutrient pulses. HYCOM surface currents confirmed that monsoon reversals modulate coastal phytoplankton distribution. These findings provide baseline data for coastal ecosystem monitoring and marine spatial planning in East Kalimantan.

Abstract

Contaminated drinking water remains a critical public health threat, particularly in peri-urban communities where laboratory-based quality assessment is inaccessible due to high cost and infrastructure requirements. This study developed an embedded, multi-parameter water quality detection system built on the ESP32 microcontroller, incorporating pH, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), turbidity, and temperature sensors within an IP54-rated weatherproof enclosure. A Random Forest classifier, optimised via Grid Search Cross-Validation, was trained on a nine-parameter physicochemical dataset comprising 3,276 labelled water samples to perform binary potability determination. Feature importance analysis identified pH and TDS as the two dominant predictors, enabling a computationally efficient dual-parameter decision rule for on-device real-time inference. Sensor accuracy was validated against certified reference instruments: the pH sensor achieved 97.67% mean accuracy (error: 2.33%; SD: 0.017) and the TDS sensor achieved 97.55% (error: 2.45%; SD: 1.06 ppm). Seven real-world water specimens of diverse physicochemical composition were correctly classified as safe or unsafe, consistent with World Health Organization guidelines and Indonesian national standard SNI 01-3553-2006, requiring pH between 6.5 and 8.5 and TDS below 500 ppm. The Random Forest model outperformed rule-based single-threshold approaches by 6 to 13 percentage points, recording an F1-score of 84.6% on the held-out test set. Results are delivered instantly via an LCD 20×4 I2C display and colour-coded LED indicators, eliminating laboratory dependency and supporting practical deployment in resource-constrained North Sumatran communities.

Abstract

The difficulty of finding efficient boarding houses, especially for students and lower-income workers in Palopo City, remains a major problem due to limited centralized information. The weakness of existing property e-commerce platforms is the lack of integration between spatial location precision and personalized recommendations. This study aims to develop a web-desktop-based boarding house e-commerce system that addresses this weakness by integrating Leaflet Spatial Visualization technology and the GeoAI Recommendation Algorithm. The system development method used is Agile Development with the Scrum model. The Leaflet.js library is used to interactively present boarding house distribution data on a map of Palopo City, complete with dynamic room availability markers. Meanwhile, the GeoAI recommendation feature is implemented using Content-Based Filtering and Collaborative Filtering algorithms to present a personalized list of accommodations based on the user's search history and location preferences. The result of this study is an integrated boarding house e-commerce platform that can improve the user experience in finding accommodations that meet spatial criteria and facilities. The implementation of this system is expected to accelerate the digitalization of boarding house services in Palopo City and become a model for the development of similar applications in the local property sector.

Abstract

Through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by PRISMA 2020 protocols, this paper maps out and assesses the scattered research surrounding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), sustainability frameworks, and overall corporate worth. We gathered data from Web of Science and Scopus using targeted Boolean strings, landing on 55 peer-reviewed papers spanning 2015 to 2024 after rigorous screening. The collected data shows that while ESG actions and disclosures serve as vital outward signals that boost corporate transparency and stakeholder confidence, their direct impact on market value is still heavily debated. Instead, the real value transformation happens inside the company. Internal dynamics specifically deeply rooted sustainability strategies, solid governance structures, and core institutional strengths act as the true engines that turn ESG efforts into tangible economic gains.

Abstract

Rapid urbanization in Ternate City has driven significant transformations in land use, creating new ecological and social challenges. This study aims to examine the impacts of urbanization on land use changes through the lens of geographical phenomenology, focusing on the subjective experiences of communities in response to spatial transformation. Employing a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, literature review, and spatial and statistical data from official agencies. The findings reveal a massive conversion of land from agricultural and ecological functions to residential and commercial zones, especially in coastal and suburban areas. Communities’ express ambivalence toward these changes experiencing a sense of loss for meaningful spaces while simultaneously striving to adapt to new conditions. The study also highlights a mismatch between spatial planning and actual land use, which exacerbates environmental degradation and social fragmentation. A phenomenological approach reveals the symbolic meanings of lost spaces and the transformation of community identity, which is often overlooked in conventional spatial analyses. This study recommends spatial planning policies that are more responsive to social and cultural dimensions within the framework of sustainable urban development.

Abstract

This study aims to examine an Indonesian EFL teacher's experiences and coping strategies while enrolled in the CELTA program, with an emphasis on how the teacher handled cultural shock. The study uses a case study methodology, and semi-structured interviews are used to collect data. The findings reveal that the teacher went through several stages of cultural shock, including the honeymoon stage, the stage of negotiations, and the stage of adjustment. The teacher used a variety of coping strategies, including asking for help from peers, honing her language abilities, and researching the host culture. This study highlights the value of cultural sensitivity and awareness in EFL teacher preparation programs and provides helpful advice for other EFL instructors who may experience cultural shock while teaching abroad.
