Abstract

Air pollution remains a challenging problem to overcome. Anthropogenic activities largely produce PM10 particles and are less than 10 µm in size. Street vendors on Jalan Raya Kebayoran Lama may be exposed to PM10 from their sales activities along the main road. This study aims to analyze the environmental health risks associated with PM10 exposure among street vendors on Jalan Raya Kebayoran Lama. This type of research is a descriptive quantitative study through the steps of Environmental Health Risk Analysis (ARKL). Air sampling was conducted at 3 locations at two measurement times, namely the afternoon and the evening, using the DustTrak Aerosol Monitor 8533. A total sampling technique was used, with 45 respondents. The data in this study were analyzed univariately and using ARKL. PM10 concentrations on Jalan Raya Kebayoran Lama at three sampling locations exceeded the Indonesian PM10 quality standard of 75 µg/m3, with an average PM10 concentration of 134 µg/m3 during daytime measurements and 230 µg/m3 in the evening. The RfC value used was 0.0087 mg/kg/day. The RQ calculation showed that 15 respondents had an RQ value >1, indicating an unsafe risk profile and requiring risk management to minimize exposure impact.

Abstract

The early detection of stunting program is an important strategy in stunting prevention efforts at the community level through the role of integrated health post (Posyandu) cadres. In the context of program implementation, cadre behavioral factors, particularly attitudes and motivation, are important aspects that need to be reviewed to understand the quality of early stunting detection implementation. Highlighting that other contextual and structural factors influence success can help policymakers feel responsible and motivated to address these broader influences. This study aims to examine the attitudes and motivation of cadres in implementing the early stunting detection program at Posyandu. This study used an observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of 96 health cadres actively involved in implementing Posyandu activities. The variables studied included cadre attitudes and motivation as independent variables, and the ability to detect stunting as an indicator of program implementation. Data analysis was performed using univariate analysis, bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test, and multivariate analysis using logistic regression to assess the role of variables simultaneously. The results showed a significant relationship between cadre motivation and the ability to detect stunting early (p = 0.003), as well as between cadre attitudes and the ability to detect stunting early (p = 0.019). However, in a multivariate analysis, the attitudes and motivations of health cadres did not show a significant partial effect on the ability to detect stunting early. This finding suggests that the implementation of the early detection program for stunting at integrated health posts (Posyandu) is influenced not only by the attitudes and motivations of health cadres, but also by other contextual and structural factors.

Abstract

High job demands on teachers can increase the risk of job burnout, which negatively impacts activities, the work environment, and productivity. Teachers are required to adapt to varying workloads, and addressing these demands is crucial for their well-being. This study aims to analyze the determinants of job burnout in public junior high school teachers in Baru Village, Makassar City, including age, nutritional status, length of service, workload, and job stress levels. This research emphasizes that workload and job stress are key factors teachers and administrators should focus on to foster well-being. The study used a quantitative, cross-sectional design. The study population was 70 teachers, with a sample of 64 respondents selected using a proportional random sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results showed a significant relationship between age (p < 0.001), workload (p < 0.001), and job stress levels (p < 0.001) with job burnout in teachers. Meanwhile, nutritional status (p = 0.576) and length of service (p = 0.869) did not show a significant relationship with job burnout. In conclusion, workload and job stress levels are significant factors contributing to teacher burnout. Schools should actively manage these factors to support teacher well-being and productivity.

Abstract

According to World Health Organization (WHO) data, approximately 12 million pregnant women worldwide experience health problems in the third trimester, with approximately 30% experiencing anxiety related to childbirth. Anxiety in pregnant women can negatively impact the condition of both the mother and the fetus. This study aims to present findings on key determinants of pregnancy-related anxiety among third-trimester pregnant women in the working area of the Kaluku Bodoa Community Health Center, Makassar City. This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of 85 third-trimester pregnant women selected from the working area of the Kaluku Bodoa Community Health Center. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed statistically to determine the relationship between variables. The results showed a significant influence between parity (p=0.002), economic status (p=0.005), history of miscarriage (p=0.011), history of domestic violence (p=0.000), and husband's support (p=0.000) on the level of anxiety in third-trimester pregnant women. In conclusion, reproductive factors, socioeconomic status, obstetric experience, psychosocial conditions, and family support play a significant role in determining a pregnant woman's anxiety levels. Therefore, pregnant women are advised to actively seek information related to pregnancy and childbirth and to be open with healthcare providers about their emotional experiences to help reduce anxiety levels.

Abstract

Nurses play a crucial role in hospital services, making optimal performance essential for healthcare quality. An imbalance between work and personal life (work-life balance) may negatively affect nurses’ performance. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between work-life balance and nurse performance in the inpatient unit of Ibnu Sina YW-UMI Hospital, Makassar. This study employed a quantitative, cross-sectional design. A total of 53 nurses were selected using cluster purposive sampling. The independent variable was work-life balance, which included three dimensions: time balance, involvement balance, and satisfaction balance. The dependent variable was nurse performance. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using the chi-square test at the 0.05 significance level. The results showed that most nurses had good work-life balance and performance. Bivariate analysis indicated a significant relationship between all dimensions of work-life balance (time, involvement, and satisfaction) and nurse performance (p-value = 0.000). Nurses with better work-life balance tended to perform better than those with poorer balance. In conclusion, work-life balance is significantly associated with nurse performance. Therefore, hospitals should pay greater attention to maintaining nurses’ work-life balance by optimizing workload management and work schedules to improve overall performance.

Abstract

Nurse performance refers to the duties, authorities, and responsibilities nurses carry out to the best of their ability to achieve professional goals and unit targets. Based on the results of a survey by the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI) in 2020, approximately 50.9% of nurses working in Indonesia experience work stress and experience the impact of physical workload, such as frequent dizziness, neck pain, and fatigue due to lack of sleep, due to excessive workload, and taking up time to rest. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between workload and work stress and nurses' performance at La Patarai Regional Hospital, Barru Regency. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test at a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results showed that there was a significant relationship between workload variables and nurse performance (p = 0.015), stress variables based on psychological aspects also showed that there was a relationship between work stress and nurse performance (p = 0.003), and work stress variables based on physiological aspects also showed that there was a relationship between work stress and nurse performance (p = 0.019). These results confirm that high workloads and job stress will impact nurse performance. Hospital management is advised to manage workloads in a balanced manner and provide adequate support, both of which are crucial for maintaining and improving nurse performance.

Abstract

New students are in a transition phase from adolescence to early adulthood, marked by changes in the learning environment, social roles, and demands for independence. The change in status to new students often triggers stress due to academic and psychological adjustments. This is a concern for students in the D4 Health Promotion Study Program. Mental health is a fundamental component in developing prospective health promotion workers, as this profession requires the ability to manage stress, maintain psychological well-being, and serve as a role model for healthy living behaviors. This study aims to describe the stress levels of new students in the D4 Health Promotion Study Program. This study was conducted at the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences, Makassar State University, D4 Health Promotion Study Program. This study used a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. Respondents in this study were first-semester students in the 2025/2026 academic year in the D4 Health Promotion Study Program. Stress levels were measured using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) questionnaire. The results showed that the majority of respondents were in the moderate stress category (81.7%), while a small portion were in the mild stress category (11.7%) and severe stress (6.7%). These findings underscore the importance of early mental health support and encourage collaboration among educators and health professionals to enhance student well-being and professional growth.
