Abstract

Kopasanda (Chormolaena odorata) leaves are often used as traditional medicine and are proven to be used as natural antiseptics. We use this public belief as the basis for analyzing the antiseptic content in laboratory tests. The test results are then used as the basis for making the gel. The method we use is the maceration method to proceed to the phytochemical screening test. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that, it is true that Kopasanda leaves (Choromolaena odorata) contain antiseptic compounds that can heal wounds.

Abstract

Tryphan blue comes from toluidine which is one of the bases of toluene isomer which has a natural pigment content of anthsiasin. Tryphan blue is commonly used for cell counting and for the calculation of tissue viability in laboratory mice. Basically the use of tryphan blue is dangerous for laboratory workers because it has a carcinogenic effect, mutagenesis, so other materials are needed especially safer and harmless natural materials. This study aims to compare the quality of teak leaf dye extract as a natural dye on the calculation of the number and viability of culture cells compared to tryphan blue dye. The study used the Complete Randomized Design (RAL) method with three treatment factors (96% ethanol, 14% citric acid, and Phospat Buffer Saline (PBS)) and observations of 5 replays be used for the calculation of the number and viability of spleen cells in the 1st, 10th, 20th, and 30th minutes with tryphan blue as a positive control. The results showed that the quality of teak leaf dye with ethanol solvent 96% viability does not differ materially, provides good color quality and obtained the same viability time as tryphan blue.

Abstract

The implementation of the flipped classroom model was one of the efforts to prepare quality human resources and master the skills of the 21st century. Face-to-face activities that were more of an analysis, evaluating, and creating in a flipped classroom could train critical thinking skills and had a direct impact on students' understanding. The purpose of this study was to analyze the implementation of the flipped classroom model and its effect on students' understanding of the whole mount material (pollen and spore acetolysis) in microtechnique courses. This research was a quasi-experiment with nonequivalent control group design. The independent variable was the flipped classroom model, while the dependent variable was student understanding. Test (pretest and posttest) was used as data collection techniques. Data analysis was performed by calculating the N-gain then t-test. The learning design was divided into pre-class, in-class, and post-class stages. The in-class stage is designed using the practicum method. The results showed that the percentage of students with high and moderate N-gain categories in the control group was 43.76%, while in the treatment group was higher, namely 64.87%. The implementation of a flipped classroom could improve student understanding of lecture material.

Abstract

Averrhoa is a member of the Oxalidaceae family and has four types, namely Averrhoa carambola, Averrhoa bilimbi, Averrhoa leucopetala, Averrhoa  dolichocarpa.. Among the four types of averhoa, the most commonly found growing and planted in Kediri's yards were Averrhoa carambola and Averrhoa bilimbi. Cultivation of this plant is usually done by vegetative and generative with seeds. Pollen has long been used as an indicator in plant taxonomy, because in pollen there are many secret characters. This study aims to determine characterization Averrhoa species that grow in Kediri City based on a palinological approach. The result of this research is Averrhoa pollen that grows in Kediri City has almost the same characteristics, namely very small size, spheroidal Prolate shape, trizonocolpate aperture and isopolar polarity. The similarity is so great because the environmental conditions in which these two types of plants grow are the same. The difference in the character of pollen that grows in Kediri City lies in its ornamentation. In Averrhoa carambola ornate Perforate-Foveolate and Averrhoa bilimbi with reticulate character. This difference in ornament is due to the fact that these two types of plants have different species.
