Abstract

Sulkam Village is a forest village that still faces challenges in food security and community economic independence. Most residents rely heavily on palm oil and timber, whose prices fluctuate. However, the village boasts two hectares of unused land with the potential for productive use. Therefore, the “Tani Kedelai Ladang Harapan” (Hopeful Field Soybean Farming) program, implemented through community service activities, aims to diversify agricultural businesses and strengthen food security. The goal of this program is to provide the Sulkam Village community with the understanding and skills to utilize unused land through soybean cultivation and processing into value-added tempeh. The program’s methods include outreach, technical cultivation training, hands-on practice in hygienic tempeh production, and simple entrepreneurial mentoring. Results indicate an 80% increase in community skills in understanding soybean cultivation techniques and the tempeh production process. Furthermore, the program has successfully raised community awareness of the importance of agricultural business diversification and the potential for a sustainable economy based on local food. Therefore, the “Tani Kedelai Ladang Harapan” program can be a concrete step in improving the economy of the Sulkam Village community while strengthening the independence of forest villages through a sustainable bioeconomy.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to strengthen religious moderation based on local wisdom through Islamic education in the multicultural community of Tanjung Pura District. The region is characterized by high ethnic and cultural diversity; therefore, an inclusive and contextual educational approach is needed. The methods used include socialization, interactive discussions, and training for religious leaders, teachers, and local residents. The results show an increased understanding among participants of the values of religious moderation, such as tolerance, balance, justice, and respect for differences. Furthermore, local wisdom values such as mutual cooperation (gotong royong), deliberation (musyawarah), and mutual respect proved to be effective instruments in strengthening social harmony and cohesion among religious communities. Through cross-community collaboration and Islamic education rooted in local culture, this activity successfully built shared awareness to maintain unity amid diversity. Thus, this program is expected to serve as a model for implementing religious moderation based on local wisdom in other multicultural regions of Indonesia.

Abstract

Containerized fish farming is an innovative applied technology developed to address land limitations and improve food security and household economic well-being. This technology is simple, low-cost, space-efficient, and easy to implement in domestic environments, making it highly suitable for both urban and densely populated areas. This system utilizes water optimally and can be combined with plant cultivation through a simple aquaponics concept, thereby reducing waste and increasing the efficiency of integrated and sustainable space utilization. The result of this community service activity is the implementation of containerized fish farming technology, which serves as a suitable solution for urban and densely populated communities to support nutritional needs and supplement family income. Farmed fish also serve as an essential source of animal protein to support household nutritional security. However, in practice, limited space, high population density, and specific environmental regulations can pose challenges to implementing this small-scale farming system. Furthermore, resistance from the surrounding environment or family members may also arise due to negative perceptions about the cleanliness or orderliness of the cultivation area.

Abstract

This article discusses the integration of oral history and memory therapy as a community service approach for elderly people at the Harapan Asri Nursing Home in Semarang, Central Java. The project was carried out by the History Department of Diponegoro University in 2025, with the aim of preserving local wisdom and empowering elderly people through the documentation of their personal narratives. Using participatory methods, the team conducted in-depth interviews with the elderly, focusing on their memories and experiences related to social changes in Semarang over the past half-century. The case study of Mr Irwan, a 79-year-old resident of Chinese descent, provides valuable insights into the challenges faced by minority communities during periods of political turmoil. The memory sessions not only served as a source of oral history but also provided psychological benefits for the elderly participants, helping them to restructure their identities and foster a sense of pride in their life journeys. This article highlights the potential of oral history as a tool for social and emotional empowerment, as well as its role in enriching local historical narratives. Our conclusion is that it is necessary to integrate psychological and sociological perspectives into the oral history framework to understand the complex experiences of marginalised individuals and communities. This study demonstrates the value of an interdisciplinary approach in community service initiatives and emphasises the importance of preserving the collective memory of the elderly.
