Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by e-LKPD Liveworksheet on the critical thinking skills of fifth-grade students in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subjects at the elementary school level. Strengthening critical thinking is essential in supporting 21st-century learning, which requires students to analyze information, evaluate ideas, and solve problems independently. This research employed a quasi-experimental Pretest–Posttest Nonequivalent Control Group Design with 58 students, divided into an experimental and a control group. Critical thinking skills were measured using a validated and reliable ten-item multiple-choice test. Data were analyzed for normality and homogeneity, and an independent t-test and N-Gain calculations were performed using SPSS version 22. The findings indicate that the PBL model supported by e-LKPD Liveworksheet significantly improved students’ critical thinking skills, evidenced by a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05) and an average N-Gain score of 0.6179 in the medium-high category. These results demonstrate that integrating PBL with digital worksheets encourages active, contextual, and technology-enhanced learning. The study concludes that e-LKPD–assisted PBL is an effective and innovative strategy for enhancing elementary students’ critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the need to preserve local cultural values within modern educational settings, particularly the Bugis–Makassar values of siri’ (self-worth), pesse (empathy), sipakatau (humanizing one another), and sipakainge’ (mutual reminder). These values are considered essential for strengthening students’ character and fostering harmonious social interaction in schools. This research aims to analyze how Bugis–Makassar cultural values are integrated into the learning process at Madrasah Aliyah Swasta Darud Da'wah Wal-Irsyad (MAS-DDI) Baru-Baru Tanga Pangkep. A qualitative approach was employed with participants including the principal, Islamic Education teachers, Guidance and Counseling teachers, Islamic Cultural History teachers, and students from grades XI and XII. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation, and validated using data triangulation. The findings reveal that cultural values are integrated into both formal and non-formal learning through contextual, collaborative, and reflective strategies. These practices contribute to character development, enhanced learning motivation, and the strengthening of students’ cultural identity.

Abstract

The study examined the effects of Graffiti, Jigsaw, and Group Investigation Cooperative Learning Strategies on junior secondary school students’ achievement in peace education in Lagos State, Nigeria, and explored the moderating role of gender. A pretest–posttest quasi-experimental 4×2×2 factorial design was used. A total of 285 students from eight schools were selected. The Peace Education Achievement Test (r = 0.89) and instructional guides were used over a 12-week intervention. Data were analysed using ANCOVA and Scheffé post-hoc tests at 0.05 significance. There was a significant main effect of treatment (F(3,267)=7.16; partial η² = 0.07). Group Investigation produced the highest performance, followed by Jigsaw and Graffiti. Gender and interaction effects were not significant. Cooperative learning strategies improve achievement in peace education and should be integrated into teaching practice. Social studies teachers and curriculum planners should integrate GICLS, JCLS, and GCLS into instructional practice to strengthen peace education outcomes.

Abstract

Financial behavior of the KIP-Kuliah scholarship is a critical factor in supporting students’ academic success. This study examines dual-process thinking: intuition (Type 1) and rationality (Type 2), and the effectiveness of the KIP-Kuliah scholarship in shaping students’ financial behavior and academic achievement. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study integrates quantitative analysis through Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with qualitative interviews to enrich the interpretation of the findings. The results indicate that the KIP-Kuliah scholarship significantly improves academic achievement and encourages more structured financial behavior, with rational decision-making exerting a stronger influence than intuition. However, financial behavior does not mediate the relationship between scholarship effectiveness and academic performance, and the social environment does not moderate the effect of dual-process thinking on financial behavior. The study concludes that the scholarship directly enhances academic outcomes, while rational cognitive processes remain key to effective financial behavior.

Abstract

The unemployment rate among university alumni in Indonesia is 5.2%. The reason is misalignment between universities and industry. MP UM offers FPL to minimize misalignment and educate on unemployment. The success of FPL is determined by learning motivation and academic development. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of FPL teaching, learning motivation, and academic development, to find the effect of FPL teaching on learning motivation and academic development, and to find the effect of FPL teaching on academic development through learning motivation. The research used a quantitative, descriptive, correlational approach. 109 students were involved through saturated samples. SPSS and SmartPLS3 were used for data analyzing. The results showed that FPL teaching, learning motivation, and academic development were very high. The evaluation process and learning reflection influence motivation and academic development. There was no direct or indirect influence of planning and implementation on motivation and academic development.

Abstract

Folktales function as important tools for conveying cultural values and shaping social behavior. Yet in modern education, the meaningful messages embedded in traditional narratives, including those from Bukit Menoreh, often receive limited attention in classroom learning. This study explores how Bukit Menoreh folktales can be revitalized as creative Social Studies learning resources to enhance students’ social awareness. Using a qualitative descriptive method with an ethnographic orientation, the research collected data through literature review, interviews with teachers and cultural informants, and content analysis of folktale texts. The analysis involved thematic reduction, organization, and interpretation to identify cultural values relevant to instructional goals. Findings reveal that Bukit Menoreh folktales highlight cooperation, solidarity, and social responsibility, which can be integrated through reflective learning activities. Revitalizing these stories encourages empathy and student engagement with surrounding social issues, demonstrating their significant potential as contextual learning resources that help strengthen students’ character.

Abstract

This study investigates global trends and collaboration patterns in Community-Based Learning (CBL) and Civic Engagement (CE) research in higher education between 2015 and 2025, focusing on fragmented civic engagement practices, limited student participation, and weak university–community partnerships as the central rationale. Employing a bibliometric approach, 110 Scopus-indexed publications were examined using VOSviewer and Publish or Perish to identify publication trajectories, influential authors, productive institutions, and emerging thematic clusters. Results indicate steady growth in research outputs, with peaks in 2023–2024, and journal articles as the primary dissemination medium. The United States emerges as the largest contributor, followed by India, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. Keyword analysis highlights five thematic clusters: civic engagement, interdisciplinarity, health, sustainability, and community capacity building. These findings reveal regional disparities and emphasize the importance of digital integration and stronger collaboration among universities, communities, and students to advance inclusive and transformative civic learning.
