Abstract

Students with low mathematical talent need help in learning mathematics. Therefore, schools must implement various methods to maintain students' interest in mathematics. One method that can be used is Problem-Based Learning (PBL). PBL aims to enhance students' interest and learning outcomes in mathematics. This classroom action research aims to improve learning and strengthen mathematics learning outcomes. The subjects of this study are 39 students from class IXG of SMP Negeri 4 Batam, in the odd semester of the academic year 2022/2023, comprising 21 female students and 18 male students. The data collection instruments used are observation sheets and mathematics learning outcome tests. Data from the observation sheets are analyzed descriptively narratively, while data from the mathematics learning outcome tests are analyzed descriptively statistically. The analysis results show an improvement in the learning process from pre-action to cycles I and II. The implementation of PBL achieved a good category with an increase of 4.10 points. The average score in cycle I was 76.94 and increased to 81.52 in cycle II. Thus, it can successfully enhance students' interest and learning outcomes in mathematics. This is evident from the attainment of the learning mastery target of 70 and the classical learning outcomes that reached or exceeded 85%.

Abstract

Leadership is a vital element in both formal and non-formal education. Both men and women have equal opportunities and space to become leaders. The success of a school principal is determined by their ability to manage their school effectively. This study employs a descriptive-qualitative approach. To gather data, the researcher conducted interviews with School Principals, Vice Principals for Student Affairs, Vice Principals for Curriculum, and Students. The findings of the study reveal that: (1) Female School Principals exhibit openness in receiving criticism and suggestions from subordinates, demonstrate care for their staff, and display firmness and responsibility in decision-making. (2) In enhancing students' morals and religious values, the School Principal implements notable programs such as Madrasah Al-Qur'an, pre-class recitation, congregational Duha and Dhuhr prayers, school extracurricular activities, and other habitual practices integrated into school activities. (3) The effectiveness of school leadership is examined through two phases: initiating structure (prioritizing goal achievement) and consideration (concern for subordinates). Three interrelated elements, namely leader behavior, subordinate, and situation, synergistically contribute to the realization of effective leadership.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze the development of the curriculum and materials for Islamic Religious Education (PAI) through a religious literacy program to improve the quality of education in madrasahs. This study utilizes a qualitative approach with a literature review and descriptive methods supported by a philosophical-pedagogical approach. The development of the PAI curriculum and materials through the religious literacy program encompasses four main components: objectives, content, methods, and evaluation. The program aims not only to enhance students' interest in reading but also to train them in critiquing sources of knowledge and values related to religion. The development of the PAI curriculum and materials through the religious literacy program has positive implications for improving the quality of education in madrasahs.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the concept of Islamic education in the era of globalization from the perspective of KH. Abdurrahman Wahid. The study is based on concerns about the impact of globalization, referred to as "future shock" by the renowned futurologist Alvin Toffler. The researcher observes that the education sector in Indonesia lacks a clear concept to face this wave of globalization. Therefore, this study seeks to delve into the concept of Islamic education in the era of globalization, characterized by neo-modernism, which involves preserving traditional values while incorporating Western modernization. The research adopts the Library Research method, focusing on various literature sources such as books, articles, and newspapers. Data collection employs documentary techniques. The study utilizes a historical-philosophical approach and content analysis as the analytical method. The findings reveal that the concept of Islamic education in the perspective of KH. Abdurrahman Wahid during the era of globalization consists of three core discussions. Firstly, the goals of Islamic education encompass neomodernism, liberation-based education, and multiculturalism-based education. Secondly, the Islamic education curriculum includes the formation of Islamic personality, Islamic culture development, and the advancement of life sciences, skills, and expertise. Thirdly, the methods of Islamic education involve political, cultural, and socio-cultural strategies. Additionally, the concept of Islamic education from the perspective of KH. Abdurrahman Wahid exhibits an eclectic ideology, indicating its distinctive characteristics in the realm of educational ideology. This research hopes that the concept can serve as an alternative reference for the education sector in Indonesia to confront the challenges of globalization.

Abstract

The progress of science and technology causes cultural, social, political, and economic changes as well as the world of work. There are jobs that are missing or that are popping up according to today's profession. For example, the PAI teaching profession does not only know educational theory but needs to master various other disciplines. Because of this, it is necessary to increase the development of human resources for superior Islamic education graduates who are ready to go according to the needs of society, industry, and experience in the world of work. The purpose of this research is to find out the role of Islamic Religious Higher Education in improving and building superior human resources in the PAI Study Program after the publication of the independent learning-free campus curriculum. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach. The results of this study indicate that there is support for Islamic tertiary institutions to apply this policy, namely by making a design model for the implementation of the Merdeka curriculum program that is applied to the PAI study program. The design described is by providing three semester learning rights with three models in the implementation of lectures (block, non-block, and regular models). This program opens wide opportunities for PAI students to enrich and improve their insights and competencies in the real world according to their passion and aspirations.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the educational thought of Syekh Nawawi Al-Bantani. Influenced significantly by his father and prominent scholars, Syekh Nawawi's profound love for religious knowledge motivated him to pursue various disciplines, emphasizing the obligation of seeking knowledge for the intellectually inclined. The study employs a literature review method to analyze the role of Syekh Nawawi Al-Bantani in Islamic education in Nusantara. Data were obtained from primary and secondary literature sources, including scholarly articles and books. Descriptive analysis with triangulation techniques was used to verify and complement the data. The findings highlight Syekh Nawawi Al-Bantani's perspective on education, emphasizing the importance of understanding the universe's existence, human potential, and the purpose of education, while promoting holistic development encompassing physical, intellectual, and spiritual aspects. The implications of his teachings are valuable for contemporary educators, guiding the integration of Islamic values in education and fostering gratitude, humility, and a commitment to lifelong learning, thus producing morally upright individuals actively contributing to society.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the influence of teacher roles and parenting styles on student character formation at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 2 Sleman Yogyakarta using a quantitative associative research method. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that both factors significantly influenced student character formation, with parenting style having a higher contribution than teacher roles. Therefore, a balanced approach between education at home and school is necessary to support good character formation among students. The resulting multiple linear regression equation was Y = 14.047 + 0.497X1 + 0.910X2, with a determination coefficient of 55.9%. Parenting style contributed more (?= 0.910) than teacher roles (?= 0.497) by 58.87%. However, the study had limitations, such as focusing on one school and specific geographical context. Therefore, it is recommended to conduct similar studies in different schools and regions and explore other factors that may influence student character formation.

Abstract

Portfolio assessment is an ongoing evaluation based on collecting assignments and information from students to show the progress of competency development over a certain period. The method used in this research is action research, where researchers can be directly involved in improving the quality of lectures, which is reflected in improving students' writing skills. Then the researcher engages in reflection on the problem, collects and analyzes data, and implements changes or an action plan based on the reflection results. The purpose of this study Islam to improve the Arabic writing skills of library science students at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta by using portfolio assessment. The research results show that portfolio assessment innovations can improve the writing skills of Library Science students at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the approach of perennialism in the development of the curriculum of Islamic religious education. The study uses library research, the object of the study using library data of books and journals as its source of data. The analysis of the study's data is descriptive. The perennial approach to the development of the curriculum of Islamic education consists of three main components: 1) strategic planning; 2) program planning; and 3) velivery plans. Of these three components, the perennial approach is an ideology that supports the evolution of academic curriculam.

Abstract

This research aims to prove the novelty of research related to the implementation of diagnostic tests to improve computational thinking skills based on local wisdom using bibliometric analysis. This type of research uses qualitative descriptive research. The data collection technique uses secondary data in the form of literature from the Google Scholar database. Data analysis uses bibliometric analysis with the help of VOSviewer software. The results of this study indicate that the topics of Computational Thinking, Diagnostic Test, and Local Wisdom have not been found research with these topics, so there are opportunities for research by collaborating topics.
