Abstract

The phenomenon of implementing rewards in the memorization of the Quran provides new insights into how positive reinforcement can enhance motivation and sustain the process of memorization (tahfidz), in alignment with Skinner's theory. This literature study aims to detail how rewards can serve as motivational tools within the progression of Quran memorization. The research employs a qualitative method with a literature study approach. The research steps include determining keywords, searching for articles using Publish or Perish, and filtering relevant articles according to predetermined criteria. A review of six selected articles serves as the object of this study, utilizing thematic data analysis to examine the application of rewards in Quran memorization based on Skinner's theoretical framework. The findings of this literature review indicate that: 1) Skinner's concept of rewards is effective in reinforcing positive behavior through positive reinforcement. The implementation of rewards can also encourage the development of intrinsic motivation, reducing reliance on extrinsic motivation. 2) The provision of verbal and non-verbal rewards effectively enhances motivation and memorization of the Quran. Rewards such as praise or tangible gifts can invigorate the learning spirit, provided they are administered wisely in order to maintain sincere intentions in memorization. 3) Existing research demonstrates that the application of rewards based on Skinner's theory effectively strengthens the habit of memorizing the Quran, thereby facilitating the formation of routines and reinforcing an individual's commitment to achieving memorization targets. Future research is recommended to utilize quantitative or qualitative methods to further examine the application of rewards in enhancing Quran memorization motivation.

Abstract

Biological, cognitive, and socioemotional changes occur in adolescents. Teenagers pay more attention to physical appearance and body shape based solely on personal judgment or society's views, without looking at other aspects, such as religion. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to describe and analyze the significance of religion in teenagers' body image from the perspective of the psychology of religion. The method used was qualitative with a phenomenological study design. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The research participants totaled four people, three of whom had a positive body image and one other had a negative one. The results showed that religion was related to body image. Participants with a positive body image consider that they have been created by God perfectly, and they are grateful for everything about themselves and their appearance. Participants with a negative body image recognized that God had indeed created all humans good, but participants always felt dissatisfied with themselves, so participants continued to think about and improve things that they felt were not good. Most importantly, all participants acknowledged that religion guided them in finding meaning and purpose in life. Religion provides a strong basis for building a positive and healthy body image by thinking, responding to every event, and reflecting on or self-evaluating. This study implies that each individual is aware of the importance of self-acceptance, seeing, and thinking that the self is valuable and special.

Abstract

This study aimed to adapt and validate the Brief Adjustment Scale–6 (BASE-6) for use among Indonesian adolescents. Psychological adjustment plays a critical role in adolescent development, making it essential to establish a culturally relevant and age-appropriate assessment tool. The BASE-6, a brief yet robust measure of psychological adjustment, was selected for adaptation. Confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated strong construct validity, with model fit indices, including the Comparative Fit Index (CFI), Tucker–Lewis Index (TLI), Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA), and Standardized Root Mean Square Residual (SRMR), collectively indicating a well-fitting model for the Indonesian context. The findings support the suitability of the adapted BASE-6 for assessing psychological adjustment in the Indonesian adolescent population. This validated instrument is expected to contribute to future research and inform interventions designed to promote adolescent mental health.

Abstract

Insomnia is a prevalent comorbidity among middle-aged individuals with hypertension. Dhikr relaxation, an Islamic spirituality-based intervention, has been proposed as a non-pharmacological approach to improve sleep quality. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of dhikr relaxation therapy in reducing insomnia among middle-aged hypertensive patients. The study involved 18 participants aged 40–59 years diagnosed with stage 2 hypertension. Participants were randomly assigned to either an experimental group (n = 9) that received dhikr relaxation therapy or a control group (n = 9) that received no treatment. Insomnia was measured using the Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS) at the posttest and the two-week follow-up. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests and the Mann-Whitney U test, based on assumptions of normality and homogeneity. The results showed no statistically significant difference in insomnia scores between the experimental and control groups at both posttest and follow-up (p > 0.05). Additionally, there was no significant within-group change in insomnia scores over time. Dhikr relaxation therapy did not demonstrate effectiveness in reducing insomnia among middle-aged hypertensive patients. Potential confounding factors such as gender imbalance and participant background may have affected the results. Further studies with larger, more diverse samples and refined methodology are recommended.

Abstract

This study addressed the need for a validated instrument to measure happiness among elderly individuals in Indonesia. The research aimed to examine the construct validity of a modified version of The Happiness Scale Interval Study (HSIS). Data were collected from 211 elderly individuals aged 60 years and above residing in Jakarta using a non-probability convenience sampling method. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) with LISREL 8.70 software was employed to test the unidimensionality and construct validity of the scale. The initial model showed unsatisfactory fit, but after allowing for correlated errors among certain items, the model achieved a good fit with a final Chi-square value of 25.43, p-value = .22884, and RMSEA = .032. The results indicate that all items significantly measure a single factor of happiness, confirming the construct validity of the modified HSIS for elderly populations in Jakarta. This study provides evidence for the validity of this happiness scale as a tool for future research on happiness and well-being among the elderly population in Indonesia, informing the development of targeted interventions.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of job satisfaction on bank employees' decisions to resign following a corporate merger. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, the research involved in-depth interviews with three former employees of a merged banking institution in Indonesia, aged between 25 and 35 years, each with over three years of service at the institution. Participants were selected purposively based on their direct experience of working within the post-merger environment and subsequently choosing to resign. Thematic analysis was used to interpret the data, guided by Spector's (1997) dimensions of job satisfaction. The findings revealed a significant decline in employee satisfaction across several key domains, including compensation, leadership, promotion opportunities, workload, and workplace communication. The merger led to increased job demands, reduced perceived fairness, and deteriorating interpersonal dynamics, which collectively contributed to employees' decisions to quit. These results underscore the importance of managing human resource transitions during organizational change. The study emphasizes the importance of transparent communication, equitable workload distribution, and fair compensation systems in post-merger integration strategies to mitigate turnover intentions and promote sustainable organizational growth.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines the relationship between leadership styles and employee work-life balance (WLB). Following the PRISMA protocol, data were collected from four academic databases (Publish or Perish/Google Scholar, Scopus, Emerald Insight) using the PICO framework. From an initial pool of 296 articles, 31 studies met the inclusion criteria for analysis. The findings consistently demonstrate that transformational leadership exerts a significant positive influence on WLB by fostering a supportive work environment, providing psychological resources, and promoting flexible work arrangements. Supportive and authentic leadership styles also show positive correlations, while authoritarian leadership is consistently detrimental. The review identifies perceived organizational support and flexible work policies as key mediating factors. The results underscore that effective, people-oriented leadership is crucial for cultivating organizational cultures that support employee well-being and sustainable work-life integration. Organizations are advised to develop leadership training programs that focus on empathy, flexibility, and empowerment. This study contributes to the literature by synthesizing evidence across diverse contexts and suggests that future research should explore causal relationships and the moderating role of cultural and organizational variables.

Abstract

Mental health service utilization remains low in the Philippines despite high rates of psychological distress and recent legislative reforms; and understanding individual and cultural determinants of help-seeking is seen as critical. This cross-sectional study investigated the influence of personality factors on attitudes toward seeking mental health services among Filipino adults. Using standardized measures, data were collected from 294 Filipino respondents. Descriptive analysis revealed personality trait profiles with high Agreeableness, Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness, and low Neuroticism which indicate a generally positive orientation toward seeking professional psychological help and less stigmatized approach to seeking mental health support. In addition, correlation analysis revealed that conscientiousness (r =. 155, p < .001) and extraversion (r = .128, p < .05) are positively associated with psychological openness and help-seeking propensity attitudes respectively; conscientiousness (r=.131, p<.05) is positively associated with indifference to stigma; while neuroticism (r = -.209, p < .001; r = -.128, p < .05) was negatively associated with psychological openness and indifference to stigma. Personality traits of conscientiousness and extraversion serve as facilitating factors for psychological openness and help-seeking propensity, while neuroticism consistently acts as a barrier, diminishing openness and imposing sensitivity to stigma. The results serve as a basis in recommending culturally sensitive interventions that address both internal and systemic barriers to improve mental health service utilization in the Filipino context.
