Abstract

The integrated effects of product innovation, competitive strategy, and market orientation on the market share, customer Customer Legitimacy, and business performance of small and medium-sized firms (SMEs) in Indonesia are examined in this study. 287 SMEs from a variety of industries made up the sample for the cross-sectional study. The data in this study were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The findings indicate that there is a positive and significant correlation between intended performance outcomes, competitive strategy, product innovation, and market orientation, according to 12 offered hypotheses. Superior SME performance is influenced by the Market Orientation Framework and the Resource-Based View (RBV) grand theory with regard to these strategic factors. The results provide guidance for strategic decision making and policy development for the Indonesian SME sector, with implications for scholars, practitioners, and policy makers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the communication capacity of public health cadres in designing and implementing effective health communication campaigns and their impact on changing the nutritional behavior of rural communities and helping to reduce the number of stunting cases in Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative and case study approach focusing on health communication strategies implemented by community health cadres in South Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province. Data collection used an in-depth interview method with public health cadres, which included evaluating their understanding of health communication, the use of social media in delivering health messages, and their ability to adapt nutrition messages to the local cultural context. Research findings show that most health cadres do not understand effective health communication. The use of social media in delivering health messages is still not optimal, and there are challenges in understanding and integrating local cultural contexts in nutrition counseling. The implications of this study suggest that enhancing the capacity of community health cadres in South Konawe Regency is imperative, particularly in proficient health communication through social media platforms and understanding the nuances of local cultural contexts. It is anticipated that implementing strategies aimed at augmenting the training and skill development of health cadres would significantly contribute to endeavors to mitigate the prevalence of stunting cases in rural Indonesian regions.

Abstract

The Bantar Gebang landfill is a paradise for scavengers. However, this condition is inversely proportional to the reality of an unhealthy environment and increasing poverty. On this basis, this research aims to examine the extent of environmental justice for this community. This research uses qualitative techniques with a case study approach starting from 2022-2023 with informants from Bantar Gebang scavenger residents and the Bantar Gebang TPST. It was found that environmental justice was not yet running as it should, and this was further exacerbated by the lack of public education, and the lack of optimal attention from the local government. Thus, the urgency of environmental justice at the grassroots supports sustainable development, especially for the welfare of scavengers with the principle of equality. The government should be able to change its perspective in paying attention to the living conditions of these minorities with a social empathy approach that is included in environmental regulations by giving them the right to participate in making decisions.

Abstract

Technology adoption is a process in which business actors and farmers have the initiative to participate or be actively involved in innovative activities in the management and utilization of agricultural products. This phenomenon indicates the need for a special strategy in optimizing the utilization of agricultural products. Researchers identify strategic problems/issues through the results of analysis during field observations. After each variable is rated and weighted according to the criteria, it can be concluded that the opportunity value of 2.14 is greater than the threat value of 0.9. If the difference is obtained, the opportunity value is 1.24 (y) greater than the threat of implementing agricultural potential development counseling through KKN activities. Based on an analysis of the implementation of agricultural extension to develop agricultural potential through KKN activities, three strategies were found, namely Collaboration of agricultural extension assistance with innovators, extension assistance in convincing MSME groups to demonstrate technology implementation, and MSME assistance supported by innovation and technology application.

Abstract

Thanks to the Belt and Road Initiative, the rise of China has brought forth new sets of opportunities and challenges for Southeast Asia. Indonesia has become one of Southeast Asia countries that has close economic relations with China. The Indonesia-China High Speed Rail project, which connects Jakarta-Bandung with a 142 km long line, can be seen as one of the biggest projects between Indonesia and China. However, the project faces an overrun of around USD 2 billion. This paper aims to analyze the worst possibility that Indonesia will face, namely China's Debt Trap. This paper uses the literature study method. The results show that Indonesia has the potential to be caught in China's debt-trap if there are no comprehensive economic recovery efforts without relying on foreign loans. State income from loans and debts will only lead Indonesia under the influence of the lender country. This paper suggests that Indonesia needs to reconsider its decision to use APBN funds for a new capital project, namely Nusantara. This can make Indonesia trapped in a debt-trap due to excessive reduction in state assets.

Abstract

Maternal mortality remains unacceptably high, particularly in low and middle-income countries (LMICs), representing a critical challenge requiring novel approaches to reach underserved populations. Community health worker (CHW) programs have demonstrated potential to promote maternal health by enhancing health literacy, service utilization, and access to care. This study aimed to critically synthesize evidence on leveraging CHWs as an innovative strategy for reducing maternal deaths across LMICs. A review of empirical literature from 2000-2023 was conducted across major databases (PubMed, CINAHL, Embase). Quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods and review studies reporting primary data on CHW program impacts related to maternal health in LMICs were included. Thematic synthesis was used to explore CHW roles, implementation factors affecting effectiveness, and impacts on drivers of maternal mortality. CHWs increased antenatal care attendance, facility-based deliveries, obstetric complication recognition/referrals, and postnatal follow-up—contributing to reductions in maternal mortality across contexts like Nepal, Ethiopia, and Malawi. However, optimizing impact required comprehensive training, logistical support, functional integration of CHWs into health systems, community participation mechanisms, and tailored incentive packages fostering motivation. Persistent implementation challenges included poor supervision, lack of supplies/transportation, fragmented referral coordination, and inadequate sustainable financing. On implications, there is the need for context-adapted program models underpinned by health system readiness and multistakeholder commitment to overcoming long-standing implementation barriers.

Abstract

The background of this research is the flexible working arrangement system at the Ministry of Finance or the Ministry of Finance in the form of a flexible working space or FWS which has become a new working paradigm and has proven to be effective, has not been able to synthesize sustainable patterns and is still valid only as a privilege. This study aims to analyze the concept of FWS implementation in the Ministry of Finance and synthesize it in alternative sustainable FWS governance. The research uses qualitative methods and a narrative study approach. The research findings show that digital tools are a significant element in the FWS system and are proven to make FWS a system capable of optimizing performance productivity. Digital tools are also one of the driving factors for more flexible and accommodating work demands for employees at the Ministry of Finance. These two interrelated things then make FWS an alternative to new work procedures, which are projected to be not only employee privileges but also the majority of employees. As an implication of the research, an elaboration of the control and evaluation of the FWS, the system adaptability pattern and workload calibration on the FWS scheme is carried out, as well as the calculation of the benefit cost on an ongoing basis in the form of design determination and feasibility tests, periodic performance tests and optimization of the acceleration of the FWS system.
