Abstract

This study aims to reveal congregational activities during the implementation of restrictions on community activities from August to October 2021. There is an impression that the stricter the regulation of activities in places of worship, the stronger the community's desire to perform worship in their worship places, including other social religious activities. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method through an ethnographic approach. Observations were made in several places of worship. Informants were chosen deliberately, namely people who are considered to understand the problem under study. The theory used is Bourdie's power which explains that any social phenomena including religious congregations in carrying out their activities are individual actions. They still hold worship, even though they have been given an appeal in the form of strict regulations. The results of the study show that congregations are already aware of the dangers of Covid-19, but at the same time they cannot be separated from activities in places of worship because it is a habit since childhood and has been passed down from generation to generation. In the context of fighting Covid-19, religious leaders agree more with the term peace with Covid-19. This means continuing to worship in places of worship, but being aware of strict health protocols is the main key for every individual.

Qualitative research in the form of case studies uses interpretive methods. Data collection through observation and interviews. Associative and dissociative patterns of social interaction became the theory of analysis. Data analysis includes presentation, reduction, and verification. The results showed the pattern of social interaction by the Sunda Wiwitan community in building harmony between religious people in Cigugur using associative interaction patterns. The existence of this associative intercation pattern in the realm of praxis is embodied through several strategies. First, build an attitude of religious tolerance. Second, build an attitude of openness (tepo seliro). Third, build cooperation between religious believers. Fourth, establish dialogue among religious people. The theoretical implications of research show that to build harmony in life in the midst of plurality of religious life requires a pattern of social interaction that is assioxiative. This research limitation has not examined the concrete role of the Cigugur regional government in the succession of religious harmony in the Sunda Wiwitan community.

Abstract

Muslim worship activities after the pandemic have given rise to various kinds of contestation in practice and meaning. Studies that have discussed this phenomenon only focus on the adaptation and recovery of socio-religious activities, so they have not comprehensively discussed the contestation of Muslim worship after the pandemic. This study focuses on the contestation of worship between young and old Muslims after the pandemic. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach to many Muslims who actively practice the five daily prayers in congregation at the mosque. These Muslims were interviewed intensively to obtain data on their post-pandemic worship intensity, activities, and commitment. The findings in this study show that not only can worship activities no longer return to normal as practiced before the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it is also not uncommon for Muslim worship practices, attitudes, and commitments to become more contestative after the pandemic. This study also recommends the importance of explaining and reflecting on the post-pandemic worship activities of Muslims in a more macro and comparative community context.

Abstract

The phenomenon of da'wah content on various social media platforms that usher in social conflicts has become a crucial problem in Indonesia. This encourages the government and all elements of society to be able to minimize it. This study intends to identify and explore the dimensions of Pancasila values in the fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council of East Java Province Number. 06 of 2022 concerning Da'wah Ethics in the Digital Era. This qualitative study in the form of literature study uses a normative-philosophical approach. The philosophical values contained in Pancasila become a theory of analysis of the subject of study. The data collection of this study uses documentation techniques, and data analysis techniques use the stages of data reduction, presentation, and verification. This study concludes that there is a dimension of Pancasila values in the fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council of East Java Province concerning Da'wah Ethics in the Digital Era. First, the value of divinity (religion) and humanity in the prohibition of the delivery of provocative da'wah content. Second, the value of unity in advocating the delivery of pluralist and nationalist da'wah content. Third, the value of democracy and social justice in the recommendation of delivering da'wah content that maintains public conduciveness and stability. The theoretical implications of this study show that the universal values contained in Pancasila can be transformed into Islamic socio-religious fatwas, as well as fatwas related to da'wah ethics in the digital space. The limitations of this study have not identified the effectiveness of the fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council of East Java Province on Da'wah Ethics in the Digital Era.

Abstract

The mainstreaming of religious moderation inĀ  Indonesian is not welcomed positively by all elements of society. This is because there are some views that consider the mainstreaming of religious moderation as a form of liberalization or secularization of religion in state life. Through a normative-philosophical approach, this qualitative study aims to identify and explore the content of Sufism values on the four indicators of religious moderation formulated by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. Data collection of this study through documentation. Data analysis includes the stages of reduction, presentation, and verification. The results of this study show the dimensions of Sufism values in indicators of religious moderation in Indonesia, including the value of mahabbah in indicators of tolerance and anti-radicalism, namely in the formation of Islamic religion full of compassion, love, and peace. Then, the value of itsar on the indicator of national commitment, namely in the formation of Islamic religion that maintains mutual benefit for the integration of social life. Furthermore, the value of futuwwah on indicators accommodating to local culture, namely in the formation of Islamic religion that is fair and non-discriminatory against cultural plurality. The theoretical implications of this study emphasize that there is a meeting point related to the manifestation of the value of Sufism teachings with indicators of religious moderation in Indonesia. The limitation of this study is that it has not examined the program of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in socializing the integration of Sufism values with various indicators of religious moderation that it formulated.

Abstract

The discourse on the legalization of polygamy in Aceh, which is contained in the Family Qanun, has become one of the issues that has generated pros and cons among the community. For the proponents and those who agree, legalizing polygamy is considered capable of minimizing the practice of nikah sirri and illegal polygamy. However, those who oppose it feel that this discourse is not an effective solution and instead creates new problems. This research focuses on the responses of Acehnese millennial women and their involvement in the discourse of legalizing polygamy in Aceh. Through a qualitative approach and literature study analyzed through gender politics theory and all conceptions, the research results were obtained: 1) 75% of informants strongly rejected the discourse on legalizing polygamy in Aceh because they considered that this plan would not be able to solve the problem of siri marriage or guarantee the rights of women and children as promised. Legalization of polygamy is considered to normalize polygamy and this further distorts the position of women in the family, 2) The involvement of women in bureaucracy and decision-making, especially millennials, is still very minimal, so in terms of their involvement in the discourse of legalizing polygamy in Aceh, it is still very lacking.

Abstract

The Al-Zaytun issue has ignited a heated debate in Indonesia about religious pluralism, religious freedom, and human rights. This quandary, reminiscent of the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Muslim Congregation's situation classified as "heretical," demonstrates the historical tendency to pigeonhole alternative ideas. This highlights the hidden presence of takfiri ideology, a potentially divisive force despite its relative obscurity. In this context, this article examines the contentious Al-Zaytun case, in which the rejection of non-traditional Islamic teachings prompts a broader examination of the conflict between entrenched traditional practices, which represent the majority of Indonesian Muslims, and fundamental human rights principles, particularly religious freedom. Using an analytical method, it dissects media portrayals and examines the legal framework established by KUHP 2023, addressing religious violations and belief-based areas. The essay explores the case's potential under the prior KUHP 2021 through comparative research, revealing the various issues of interpreting and applying legislation in cases of blasphemy and religious disagreements. The study says that varied Sharia interpretations within Islam should not be used to justify restricting religious freedoms, mirroring Boaventura's interpretation of Talal Asad's discoveries, which confirm Islam's diversity of religious experiences and adaptive Sharia interpretations. Indonesia faces the challenge of cultivating a nuanced perspective that preserves individual liberty and communal harmony while balancing the intricate interaction of religious dynamics, legal systems, and human rights.
