Abstract

This study explored the quality of life of selected secondary school volunteer teachers in the remote areas of the Schools Division of Sultan Kudarat. This qualitative study utilizes phenomenology as its method and used convenience sampling as the sampling technique. Six (6) volunteer teachers were the study's participants. Moreover, the study employed a semi-structured interview guide with open-ended questions, and the data were analyzed using Thematic Analysis. Through thematic analysis, some emerging themes were extracted after an exhaustive and systematic process of thematic coding, analysis, and categorizations of the transcripts from the interview. Such themes include teachers' passion for teaching, enhancement of teachers' skills, teachers' psychological condition, qualifications, financial stability, long-distance travel, unsafe roadways, classroom management skills, faith, community linkages, classroom management skills, seminars and training, multi-talented teachers, and allowances. This study concludes that volunteer teachers in remote areas need more financial stability. Some of the teachers have limited seminars and training attended. Although they show incredible resilience and courage, they cannot cope with the increasing daily expenses, and a positive outlook cannot buy even the necessities a teacher needs to sustain himself, their family, and even the teaching-learning process itself. The study recommends that more be done to support and train volunteer teachers. Initiatives like professional development programs, access to teaching resources, provision of allowances and hazard pay, provision of plantilla positions in remote areas, and social support networks can go a long way in supporting volunteer teachers and improving education in remote areas.

Abstract

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 underscores the importance of accreditation and introduces the “National Accreditation Council” as its overarching body. The NEP envisions a 15-year phased approach, emphasising graded accreditation and institutional autonomy, aiming for all higher education establishments in India to evolve into self-governing entities focused on innovation and excellence. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has formulated new guidelines, enabling universities and colleges operational for at least one academic year to apply for provisional accreditation. These guidelines intend to widen the scope of accreditation. Unlike the previous requirement that mandated institutions to be at least six years old or to have graduated two student cohorts for NAAC application, the new approach led to a limited number of institutions seeking accreditation due to low application rates. This article examines the viewpoints of 400 faculty members from Higher Educational Institutions in Maharashtra on whether the proposed norms will enhance the quality standards of these institutions. The faculty members collectively believe that the anticipated norms are unlikely to improve the existing quality standards of Higher Educational Institutions significantly.

Abstract

Influencer Marketing has become a widely used strategy wherein social media influencers partner with businesses to create awareness about their brand and promote their products. XYZ (not real name) Cosmetics, an international cosmetics company that provides affordable, high-quality products to the Philippine market, is one such company that embraces the trend. It has integrated influencer marketing to better connect with its customers. This study determines the relationship between the three aspects of influencers: Source Characteristics (Attractiveness and Popularity), Psychological-Related Influential Factors (Self-Congruency and Product Match-Up), and Content Attributes (Quality and Uniqueness) with XYZ's Customer Purchase Intention (CPI). Through using a case study survey research design, the study chose 387 respondents, randomly sampling the Instagram followers of XYZ. An online questionnaire consisting of seven-point Likert scale items was administered. The results show that Attractiveness, Uniqueness, and Self-Congruency significantly affect customer purchase intention, while Popularity, Product Match-up, and Quality do not. The study has implications for brand managers and entrepreneurs, underscoring how an influencer should be selected, especially for cosmetics companies like XYZ. The researchers recommend choosing an attractive and unique influencer known to possess credibility, an amiable personality, and good values while focusing less on assessing how well the influencer vlogs, how popular the talent is, and how matched the person is with the company's products.

To support and achieve the goals and objectives of the Department of Education, the researcher conducted seminar entitled Project FIERCE. The main purpose of this research was to determine the students’ perspective and behavior towards research subject relative to the conduct of Project FIERCE. The study made use of the phenomenological type of qualitative approach, and the findings were drawn from semi-structured interviews. The nine (9) participants are all Senior High School students from New Taugtog National High School who completed and participated in three (3) - day seminar. Participants were asked about in what ways their perception and behavior regarding the research subject changed after participating in Project FIERCE seminar. It was found out that participants of the project FIERCE seminar gained knowledge and experience in research subjects, which resulted in a significant decrease in stress and a marked increase in confidence. This indicates the positive impact of Project FIERCE on research perspective and behavior. This research further concluded through Project FIERCE seminar, the participants acknowledged that the tasks in research subject can still be difficult, but they felt more capable and ready to take on challenges. With this positive result, it may lead to the success of attaining K-12 goals and objectives. Thus, it is highly recommended that the Department of Education should continue programs and policies that would support and provide seminars similar to Project FIERCE, which increase the perspection and behavior of students towards research subject.

Abstract

Purpose – This study explored the potential factors the iGeneration considers before intending to follow TikTok influencers, assessed their behavioral response as an outcome of the intention, and examined the impact TikTok influencers had on their potential followers. Design/methodology/approach – The researchers used a convergent mixed-parallel design to interpret data gathered from interviews and surveys with the quantitative data analyzed through the Jamovi software. This study used the philosophies of pragmatism and interpretivism. Findings – TikTok users considered perceived added value to personal lifestyle and perceived hedonic experience the most compared to other antecedents tested. The researchers classified them according to the findings and arrived at three (3) distinct categories, transitioning from intention to behavior; (A) Nonchalant, (B) Serious, and (C) Adaptive. Research Limitations/Implications – The scope and delimitations of this study only involved students currently enrolled in De La Salle University, between 17 to 24 years old. The researchers used purposive and convenience sampling to acquire respondents for the Google Forms survey and Zoom interviews. Practical and Social Implications – This study has implications for business and e-commerce, especially in the current commercial climate where influencer marketing is gaining popularity. Furthermore, it can help enterprises look for suitable influencers who can positively impact their branding to the public. Originality/Value – This study addressed the gap in the literature on TikTok users and their behavior toward the consumption of influencer content, with the increasing popularity of TikTok as a social platform and the growth of influencers as online opinion leaders.

Abstract

This research paper aimed to investigate the effects of visual learning style-based activities on reading comprehension skills among 18 second-year English major students who are currently enrolled at the President Ramon Magsaysay State University-Castillejos Campus. The matching-only pretest-post-test research design, as a type of experimental design, was used to investigate the improvement of the respondents' reading comprehension skills after the integration of the intervention. The results show that the student’s reading comprehension level was mostly “Independent” or 38.89% (7 out of 18) during the administration of the pre-test and increased by 66.67% (12 out of 18) during the administration of the post-test. The mean score of the respondents shows that they are in the “Instructional” level (19.83 or 66.11%) on the pre-test result which was improved during the post-test result in the “Independent” level (24.17 or 80.57%) respectively. The pre-test and post-test results on the reading comprehension of the respondents before and after the application of the visual learning style-based intervention show a significant correlation between the mean score (t=4.32, p=2.11) which is <0.05 alpha level, thus, the rejection of the null-hypothesis. Moreover, instructors may also allow their respective students to develop their reading comprehension skills beyond the given activities by supplying learning activities tailored to their needs, interests, and learning styles.

Abstract

Purpose – This paper aims to contribute to the study of the factors of consumers’ attitudes toward boycott intention. This examines how behavioral beliefs and attitudes are statistically related to boycott intention through the modified conceptual framework of Ajzen’s Theories of Reasoned Action and Planned Behavior. Design/methodology/approach – Human behavior concerning boycott intentions is studied using a sequential explanatory research design. Data are obtained from 90 valid respondents through questionnaires and 8 interviewees from focus group discussions. It was analyzed using regression analysis and Baheiraei's points of integration. Findings – Animosity, legitimacy, and boycott attitude significantly affect boycott intention. Boycott attitude served as a mediator between legitimacy and boycott intention. Weak evidence shows that ethical relativism and animosity significantly affect boycott attitudes. Research Limitations/Implications – The study is limited to millennials and Generation Z Filipino fashion consumers who have substantial purchasing power and awareness of social events. Practical/Social Implications – This paper shall help companies and researchers better understand the motives behind boycott intentions for ethical decision-making processes and further engage in social and moral involvements within the community. Originality/value – The study proposes the addition of relevant variables to studies on boycott intention in the fashion industry. This may help increase the understanding of consumer attitudes leading to boycotts and aid a company in countering boycotts.
