Abstract

This study was a response to unemployment, a pervading social problem. One of the solutions to the problem was the training of a workforce that makes them employable. To implement this solution, efforts from all sectors of society need to align. This study takes off from the vantage point of vocational training centers. Specifically, this was about the formulation and application of a technical curriculum implementation and evaluation framework. It identified curriculum implementation components and their subsequent details from actual curriculum-related practices of a group of vocational training centers. Components were identified through observations, informal interviews, and curriculum-related document reviews. Based on streamlined components, a survey questionnaire was made and was conducted to assess the levels of practice of identified curriculum implementation components in the training centers through the responses of technical directors and instructors. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used to test whether there was a significant difference between the ratings from the two groups of respondents. The following items were the conclusions. Curriculum implementation components were streamlined, formulating an alternative cyclical mechanism for vocational training curriculum implementation and evaluation. Competency transfer and competency assessment were emphasized due to their importance in a vocational training program. There was no significant difference in the responses of the two groups of respondents. Finally, it was found that the training centers can still improve at least a level in all components of curriculum implementation which implies the need for all training personnel to address areas of concern.

Abstract

This study investigates Confucius' views on education and their rel-evance in the 4.0 era. Confucius is known as "the great model teach-er for centuries" for his dedication to education and his thoughts regarding its role, purpose, substance, and teaching techniques. Con-fucius founded Confucianism. Confucius felt education should be a right for everyone, not just the affluent. "No class difference in school" quickly transforms people's educational views. It makes formal schooling possible for most individuals. The idea of Confu-cius is innovative because people from all backgrounds desire jus-tice and equality in education. However, a synthesis of Confucius' education concepts based on past research adds to the literature on educational philosophy. Confucius's thoughts help people world-wide understand the incredible education ideas that have ever de-veloped in moral education. The results of this research can be guid-ed and affect modern educational authorities and policymakers.

Abstract

This research is focused on the perceptions of the pre-service teachers’ Professional Identity Development (PID). The respondents included 16 pre-service teachers from a private teacher education institution. It employed a descriptive narrative design with the qualitative method of collecting data using interview questionnaire and focus group discussion guideline as instruments. The findings showed all the shared experiences were perceived to be contributory to the development of the professional identity of the Pre-service Teachers (PTs) in the competencies stipulated in the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST). Results of the interview done individually and as a group revealed how PTs perceived their professional identity development, which is essentially like the competencies of Stage 1 (Beginning Teacher). These include 1) Exhibiting mastery of concepts and pedagogy; 2) Effectiveness in communicating concepts; 3) Proficiency in information and communication technology (ICT) utilization; 4) Creating safe and conducive learning environment (classroom management); 5) Flexibility with the diverse learners; 6) Efficiency in lesson planning; 7) Consistency in reporting and monitoring learners’ progress; 8) Actively collaborating with colleagues and participating in the school community; and 9) Pursuing of continuous professional development. It proposes up-skilling and re-skilling of pre-service teachers which will all lead to the formation of a competent beginning teacher in the 21st century.

Abstract

This study explored the relationship between medical and mental health status among Asian Institute of Maritime Studies (AIMS) employees, employing statistical analyses such as Pearson correlation coefficients and t-tests. The results indicated a lack of significant correlation between medical and mental health status, suggesting no strong evidence supporting a relationship. Gender differences in health concerns were evident, with female employees reporting significantly higher levels of mental health concerns compared to their male counterparts. However, no substantial gender-based disparity was found in medical health concerns. Civil status also emerged as a significant factor, with single employees exhibiting notably higher mental health concerns than their married counterparts. Medical history included high blood pressure, stomach pain/ulcer, and nose/throat issues, with some reporting alcohol and smoking history. A minority were currently on medications for blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes. The study highlights the need to address mental health, especially among female employees, and implement strategies to reduce stress and enhance well-being in the workplace at AIMS. In light of these findings, the study recommended targeted programs addressing mental health concerns among AIMS employees, emphasizing accessibility to counseling services and collaborative efforts with the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO). Additionally, initiatives promoting digital literacy, fitness programs, and team-building activities were suggested. Recognizing the importance of early intervention, the study encouraged employees to consult with healthcare professionals for appropriate diagnosis and treatment measures for managing depression.

Abstract

This research has been developed around the two contrasting views/themes of current occurrences of inequality and significance for formation catechist. The are several problems that occur in society, especially the absence of appreciation of Catholic moral values, require the development of faith and character for society, especially for Catholics. In reality, especially in pastoral circumstances, the management of community development through activities can contribute to overcome the problem by providing opportunities for lay people to become a catechist. Hence, identifying problems of injustice is important because everybody is members of families and communities who sometimes experience injustice. If this injustice is not addressed properly, it will be impossible for a catechist to carry out his duties conscientiously and dedicatedly for the common good. The method used in this research is comparative research. Through this method, the researcher tries to gather data and process data more flexibly by using a qualitative or quantitative approach. Thus, it is hoped that the research results will be able to reveal a significant relationship between inequality and the formation catechists as ministers in the Church.

Abstract

Employing descriptive-comparative design, the perception towards the safety, security and disaster preparedness of AIMS was taken from 167 employees and 343 students and strategically compared using T-test and analysis of variance (ANOVA). A standardized questionnaire adapted from the School Safety and Security Checklist by the New York State Police and the Virginia State Education Department was used as instrument during the data gathering period held last 1st Trimester of school year 2022-2023. Demographic profile and mean perception were also statistically treated using frequency, percentage and weighted mean. Based on the results, most of the employee respondents are newly-hired, single, not over 30 years old, physically fit and majority are females. They agreed that AIMS management have a safety and security management plan for its internal stakeholders. However, there are significant differences on their perception when grouped by Department, Position, and Years of Service at AIMS. Specifically, employees who are older and more mature seek improvement and enhancement on the services, facilities, and policies pertaining to safety. On the other hand, majority of the student respondents are male, BSMT first year students and claimed to be physically fit. Their perception towards the safety and security management of AIMS were higher compared to the employees. However, no significant difference was shown on their perception towards the safety and security management plan of AIMS when grouped according to their profile. For the school grounds, both respondents imply the need for parking facility improvement while on the school interior, it is recommended to conduct a psychological capability training and access to conflict resolution under the initiative of the Regiment Department.
