Abstract

Despite the availability of dental services and educational programs, as well as, established national health system responses, and oral health interventions and procedures, oral health problems (dental caries, gum diseases and unmet dental needs) persist in the Philippines. The aim of this study was to investigate the socioeconomic factors in terms of sex, age, marital status, educational attainment, occupation, and monthly income and their effect on the oral health awareness in terms of benefit and practices. A total of 100 patients from a selected government hospital were surveyed. The respondents were asked to answer a standardized questionnaire about their socioeconomic status, awareness on the benefits of oral health care, and awareness on the practices for oral health care. Chi-Square Test for Independence was used to identify which demographic and socioeconomic indicators determined the level of awareness of the respondents on the benefits of and practices for good oral health. The Chi-Square Test showed that only sex had a significant relationship with the awareness on the benefits of good oral health (p-value = 0.05). All the other indicators had insignificant effects; Age group (p-value = 0.435), Civil Status (p-value = 0.443), Education (p-value = 0.244), Employment status (p-value = 0.722), Income (p-value = 0.986). For the awareness on good oral practice, both sex and civil status showed a significant relationship (p-values 0.028 and 0.01). For the other indicators, null hypothesis was accepted; Age group (p-value = 0.61), education (p-value = 0.914), employment status (p-value = 0.334), income (p-value = 0.64). The results of this study are in line with the Andersen Healthcare Utilization Model, which holds that people's use of healthcare services is influenced by several predisposing, enabling, and need-related factors. The knowledge of, and observance of, good oral health is essential in determining the need for oral healthcare. Moreover, a variety of socioeconomic and personal factors (enabling and predisposing) are crucial in facilitating or impeding people's ability to access and make use of oral healthcare services. Addressing these issues and promoting education and knowledge about the value of excellent oral health practices are crucial for good oral health.

Abstract

Many Filipinos prefer to work outside of the country because the opportunities and earnings are far superior to those offered in the Philippines. This correlational study aims to determine the awareness on Pag-IBIG Fund services and financial behavior and habits of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) members. The level of awareness of the Pag-IBIG Fund services includes Knowledge, Trust and Credibility, Sources and Channels, and Perceived Benefits, Barriers, and Engagement of OFW members while the efficiency level of financial behavior and habits of the members considers Savings Behavior, Investment Behavior, and Debt Management as factors. Furthermore, this study utilized a researchers-made survey questionnaire conducted to 300 respondents. Results revealed that OFW members are highly aware of the services offered by Pag-IBIG and they have high efficiency level when it comes to financial behavior and habits. Moreover, the correlation between years of employment and level of awareness on Pag-IBIG Fund services of the respondents as well as the efficiency level of financial behavior and habits and respondents’ demographic profiles are not significant. Further, the study exposed that OFW members exhibit a high level of efficiency in their financial behavior and habits, especially in savings and investment and a highly satisfactory awareness on Pag-IBIG Fund services. Specifically, age, gender, and civil status do not strongly influence financial efficiency while educational attainment impacts savings and debt management efficiency. Hence, these findings highlight the importance of education and awareness in fostering better financial habits among OFW members.

Abstract

Nowadays, the Department of Education recently displayed an anticipated and overwhelming interest in developing a research culture. DepEd promoted action research and encouraged teachers to engage, thus this is timely to address the learning gaps during pandemic. With this set up, teachers ought to be involved in it to foster evidence-based practice and raise research productivity. The major objective of this study was to ascertain how the research culture and motivating elements of action research to improve teachers' research performance in the selected elementary school. The study was conducted at sixty-two schools in the division of San Pablo City using the ex post facto research design. A total of 750 elementary teachers randomly selected comprised the respondents of the study. The correlation between motivational factors and research skills and research productivity of teachers were all significantly related. The highest correlation in terms of data analysis can be seen evidently in personal satisfaction. This reveals that teachers engaged in research activities when chances are given to utilize their skills and the administration supports the presentation of research papers. The performance and research productivity of the teachers' research abilities and efforts have a significant indirect impact on the motivational variables involved in the research. The end result of this study signifies that the relationship between the research organizational culture and teacher research performance could be enhanced by improving the motivational factors and research skills.

Abstract

This study explored the school heads’ working conditions in supporting Communities of Practice and Technical Assistance to teachers as vehicles to address problems in the teaching and learning processes and promote learning and collaboration within organizations. A qualitative research design employing multiple case study methods was utilized. The study included one (1) Principal-in-Charge (PIC), three (3) school heads, and three (3) master teacher positions. A total of seven (7) participants participated in this study. Moreover, the study employed semi-structured interview guide questions. The data were analyzed using Colizzi's thematic analysis. The results showed that the working conditions supporting the communities of practice and technical assistance to teachers are classroom observation, learning action cell, In-Service Training (InSeT), and conference and urgency. The following working conditions may affect or influence school heads and master teachers in supporting communities of practice and technical assistance to teachers: intellectance (openness to new experiences), communication channels, schedules, lack of leadership, and knowledge of technical assistance providers. Participants experienced challenges, motivations, fulfillment, and positivity in implementing CoPs and TAs. The following themes were coded on the influence of experiences on communities of practice and technical assistance to teachers: positivity, flexibility, thriving, social support and interaction, and positivity. The openness to new experiences, such as a sense of curiosity, open-mindedness, and acceptance of novel experiences, is needed for CoPs and TAs to prosper in school. Communication channels should be clear and appropriate to their audience, allow deeper conversations, and exchange ideas, thoughts, opinions, knowledge, and data in CoP and TA should be understood with clarity and purpose. School leaders must be empowered with managerial and leadership skills to support and influence communities of practice and technical assistance to teachers.

Abstract

Performance evaluation practices for faculty members has been an effective method to improve faculty performance, thus, educational institution must give paramount importance on ways to improve the performance of their faculty members. Indicated in the study of Mamatha, H et al (2021), higher education institutions being the major economic drivers in a nation rely on their faculty for quality of education. Traditional methods of performance evaluation based on quantitative data are more of a mathematical calculation than a scientific approach. The research sought answers to the effectiveness of evaluation practices in terms of student evaluation, peer evaluation and immediate superior evaluation as mechanism to enhance performance of faculty members. The research employed a quantitative-descriptive methodology and the main participants in the research are academic heads and faculty members. Results revealed that, the current evaluation practices of the select educational institution are effective as assessed by the participants. In terms of identifying differences, results revealed that between academic head and faculty members, there was no significant difference in the assessment about student evaluation, peer evaluation and immediate superior evaluation. On the other hand, when faculty members are categorized in terms of employment status, result revealed that their assessment differs on the three evaluation practices.

Abstract

This study undertakes a comprehensive examination of the awareness, skills, attitude, and readiness of respondents regarding the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in their professional settings. While the research evaluates respondents' familiarity with AI tools, proficiency levels, and overall attitude towards AI integration, it also strives to present a nuanced perspective by exploring potential challenges and reservations. The data, collected through a structured survey employing a Likert scale, captures diverse viewpoints on awareness, skills, attitude, and readiness towards AI applications. The findings reveal a generally positive outlook among respondents, emphasizing their commendable awareness of AI technologies and a strong inclination towards potential benefits. Despite varying levels of proficiency with specific AI tools, respondents express a collective willingness to embrace new technologies. The study identifies a positive attitude towards AI integration in work processes, accompanied by a proactive approach towards skill development and troubleshooting. However, it is crucial to note the potential challenges and reservations reported by some respondents, offering a balanced view of their preparedness for AI adoption. While the overall disposition towards AI technologies is favorable, the study underscores the importance of tailored training and development programs. The varying levels of proficiency reported highlight the need for targeted initiatives to address specific skill gaps. Organizations aiming to leverage AI technologies can benefit from the insights provided, emphasizing the significance of accessible training and creating a supportive environment for employees. By acknowledging challenges and reservations, this study contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of the landscape, facilitating informed strategies for successful AI integration in the workplace.

Abstract

This study was about the delicate balance between employee well-being and organizational productivity. On the one hand, if work demand was too high, employees would be too stressed, and organizational productivity would be affected. On the other hand, if a workplace is too relaxed, the business may not survive. An optimal combination of employee well-being and organizational productivity had to be addressed in equal terms. The method used to identify potential workplace stressors was qualitative in as much as it made use of observations and interviews with informants. The method used to determine levels of workplace stressor experience of employees was descriptive-quantitative. This study made use of employee work stressor experience as leverage to highlight its dynamics with employee welfare and organizational productivity. Work stressors in the context of a fast-food establishment were identified. Employees were given survey questionnaires to determine the levels of workplace stressor experience. One-way ANOVA was used to determine the significance of the difference between workplace stressors, and subsequently, areas of intervention were identified. The conclusions were the following. Role conflict, role ambiguity, work overload, working conditions, and workplace relationships were identified as potential workplace stressors based on fast-food operations and settings. Identified workplace stressors were experienced by employees at varying levels. There was a significant difference between workplace stressors. Interventions were to include all identified stressors beginning with the most prevalent, work overload. Areas of intervention included social and organizational support, employee stress-coping attitudes and skills, work performance abilities, and work-life balance.

Abstract

his study aimed to discern the factors influencing attitudes and engagement towards learning Araling Panlipunan in terms of instructional methods, classroom environment, the difficulty of the subject, teachers' behavior, learning resources, teaching competency, learning style, and integration of technology. Moreover, it also determined the level of the learning outcomes in Araling Panlipunan as cognitive, behavioral, and attitudinal. The study utilized a descriptive research design to collect quantifiable information that can be used to make statistical inferences about the target audience through data analysis. Stratified Random Sampling was used to identify 127 grade 10 learners from San Isidro Integrated National Highschool in the Schools Division of Lipa City. The data were gathered using a survey questionnaire which was validated with the help of the experts. Findings revealed that there is a significant relationship between instructional methods and the learning outcomes in Araling Panlipunan as to Cognitive, Behavioral, and Attitudinal. The classroom environment was found to have highly significant relationships with cognitive, behavioral, and attitudinal learning outcomes in Araling Panlipunan. The difficulty of the subject has a highly significant relationship with cognitive and attitudinal learning outcomes. As for teacher behavior, highly significant relationships were recognized about cognitive, behavioral, and attitudinal Learning Outcomes in Araling Panlipunan. However, after all the data was gathered and calculated, the result revealed that there is no significant relationship between the Difficulty of the Subject and Behavioral Learning Outcomes in Araling Panlipunan.

Abstract

The study's dependent variable is the teacher's compelling desire to know the Degree of job satisfaction in terms of fundamental requirements, self-actualization, supervision, and indicators. Job safety, predictable income, vessel maintenance and equipment, mental stress on the job, your earnings or Pay, cleanliness of the work, hours worked, peace of mind/security, time away from home, healthfulness of the workplace, and physical exhaustion on the job are all necessities. Accountability, productivity, recognition, job challenge, excitement, and undertaking something worthwhile are all components of self-actualization. The study on principals' effective leadership and supervisory abilities as predictors of work satisfaction among teachers in public primary schools seeks to determine whether the two qualities of the principal have anything to do with teachers' passion for their jobs. The study uses additional supporting material to demonstrate the relationship between leadership, supervisory skills, and job happiness. The respondents strongly agreed with the claims about their respective public-school principals' leadership abilities, demonstrated effective supervisory skills in their respective schools, improved those institutions, and produced outstanding students. The findings suggest a strong relationship between teachers' job satisfaction and the principal's leadership abilities. Furthermore, teacher job satisfaction and the effectiveness of the principal's supervision are highly correlated.

Abstract

The Katigbawan Festival in Catigbian, Bohol, is a celebration deeply rooted in the town's cultural heritage. Among its vibrant components is a dance that encapsulates the spirit and identity of the community. Over the years, cultural practices have undergone transformations, and without careful documentation, the essence of these dances may be lost. In an age of globalization, sustaining local cultural practices is critical to retaining a distinct identity. This study aimed to identify and analyze the distinguishing characteristics of Katigbawan Festival Dance; the symbolism it conveys in the costumes and dance equipment/props used; the purpose of creating the dance; the values demonstrated in the Katigbawan Dance Steps; and the preservation initiatives implemented by the LGU. This study utilized qualitative descriptive research method with interview guide questions serving as data-gathering methods. The analysis finds that the Katigbawan Festival's basic dance steps are classified as festival dance, with motions arranged within time signatures of 2/2, 3/4, and 4/4. The research also sheds light on the symbiotic link that exists between the dance steps (Katigbi, Tigbaw, and Kabaw) and the matching costumes and props. These elements contain basic qualities such as thankfulness, ingenuity, power, and hard work. The costume represents the Carabao, also capturing the sense of nature which is the cave and the growth of the plant Katigbi. Dance equipment and props are artfully intertwined throughout the performance to represent the richness of natural resources.
