Abstract

This study aims to enhance students' understanding and performance in the Grade V Fiqh curriculum at MI Jabal Nur through the Mind Mapping teaching method. Mind Mapping is a visual learning technique that organizes information graphically, promoting better comprehension. An experimental approach was employed to assess its effectiveness in improving students’ understanding of the requirements of Qurban. Data collection involved three main instruments. First, observations were conducted using structured sheets to analyze student and teacher activities during lessons. Second, an experiment divided students into an experimental group (Mind Mapping) and a control group (conventional methods), with pre-tests and post-tests measuring learning outcomes. Third, documentation included relevant photographs. The procedure encompassed observations, experimental interventions, and assessments. Quantitative analysis was applied to evaluate student progress and teacher effectiveness. The findings revealed significant improvements. The success rate increased from 47% in the pre-cycle to 93.33% in Cycle II, with the average student score rising from 59.6 to 85.9. These improvements were attributed to enhanced teacher performance, additional learning activities, and greater student engagement. Mind Mapping effectively facilitated information visualization, fostering deeper understanding. This study demonstrates that the Mind Mapping method positively impacts students' comprehension and academic performance in Fiqh. Its structured and interactive nature helps learners better grasp complex religious concepts, making it a valuable pedagogical tool in Islamic education.

Abstract

The main focus of this study lies in the implementation of Qur'anic-based communication in improving harmonious relationships between teachers and students at SMA Nurul Jadid, especially in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) subjects. The purpose of this study is to analyze how the implementation of Qur'anic-based communication can strengthen interpersonal relationships between teachers and students in the context of learning. The method used in this study is qualitative with a case study design. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of Qur'anic-based communication, which includes qaulan layyinan (gentle words), qaulan kariman (noble words), and qaulan maysuran (easy-to-understand words), has a positive impact on teacher-student interactions. Teachers who use gentle language and respect students are able to create a more comfortable and conducive classroom environment. This increases students' confidence in actively participating in discussions, reduces anxiety in expressing opinions, and facilitates understanding of teaching materials. In addition, this study found that Qur'anic communication contributes to overcoming differences in understanding among students by providing a more inclusive and empathetic approach. By applying easy-to-understand language and gradually explaining the material, teachers can help students who have difficulty understanding Islamic teachings without creating pressure or fear. The implications of this study indicate that Qur'anic-based communication can be an effective strategy in creating better interpersonal relationships in educational environments. The application of Islamic communication principles not only improves the quality of learning but also contributes to the world of education by presenting communication techniques that are oriented towards empathy, respect for students, and strong religious values.

Abstract

The classroom environment plays a crucial role in supporting students' learning motivation. A comfortable environment can enhance focus, engagement, and academic achievement, while poor conditions may hinder students' motivation to learn. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the correlation between the English classroom environment and students' learning motivation at the secondary school level using a quantitative correlational method. Data were collected from 67 students at a Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, through questionnaires on classroom environment and learning motivation. Spearman’s correlation analysis showed a significant positive correlation (rho = 0.405, p 0.001), indicating that a well-maintained classroom environment can enhance students’ learning motivation. Key factors such as sound insulation, lighting, temperature, ventilation, and classroom decoration influence students’ learning experiences. A comfortable and supportive classroom helps improve students’ focus and engagement, while an inadequate environment may reduce their motivation. These findings highlight the importance of optimizing the classroom environment to enhance students' motivation. Teachers can improve classroom management by arranging flexible seating, ensuring proper lighting, and maintaining good air circulation. Additionally, policymakers should consider upgrading school facilities to create a more conducive learning environment that fosters student motivation. With a better classroom environment, students can stay more focused, motivated, and achieve better academic outcomes.

Abstract

Characterization of the main characters is an essential element in establishing an emotional connection between the reader and the storyline in a novel. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes presents profound characterization through its two main characters, Louisa Clark and Will Traynor, who have contrasting backgrounds and motivations. This study aims to analyze how the characterization of these two characters contributes to the structure and quality of the novel’s plot. The research employs a qualitative approach with text analysis, encompassing character identification, psychological analysis of characters, and exploration of narrative structure. Data were collected through in-depth reading and note-taking of key elements related to character development and their interaction with the plot. The findings reveal that the characterization of Louisa and Will plays a crucial role in shaping the story’s dynamics. Louisa evolves from an insecure individual into a more independent and courageous person, while Will experiences deep internal conflict regarding control over his life. Will's firm adherence to his decision creates intense emotional tension in the plot, reinforcing the central themes of freedom of choice, sacrifice, and the meaning of life. Additionally, validation through literature review and discussions with academics supports the idea that characterization in this novel aligns with concepts in contemporary literature. The study concludes that complex and realistic characterization not only drives the plot but also adds depth to the themes and messages conveyed. Through strong character depiction, Me Before You successfully engages readers emotionally and offers a profound reflection on life choices and their consequences in human existence.
