Abstract

Mathematical literacy-based problems require the ability to read, interpret and connect contextual information with mathematical concepts, which is often a challenge for students. This difficulty is especially evident in modulo congruence material which requires an understanding of number concepts and mathematical logic. This study aims to analyze students' errors in solving mathematical literacy problems related to modulo congruence material. The research subjects were ten grade XI students from one of the high schools in Gowa Regency who were selected by purposive sampling. The method used was a written test to identify the types of errors, as well as in-depth interviews to explore the causes. The results showed that students had difficulty in understanding important information from the problem, translating it into a mathematical model, and composing the solution steps systematically. The conclusion of this study shows that learning interventions are needed that focus on strengthening context understanding, practicing reading problems critically, and habituation to develop coherent solution strategies. In addition, gradual integration of mathematical literacy exercises needs to be done so that students are able to develop mathematical thinking skills as a whole. Abstract

This study aims to examine the integration of the history of mathematics in geometry learning with a systematic review. The method used is descriptive analysis by analyzing 7 related journal articles (2015-2024) indexed in Google Scholar. Data analysis was carried out using VOSviewer software version 1.6.18 for graphical bibliometric mapping. The results of the study indicate the importance of integrating the history of mathematics in geometry learning to enrich students' understanding of geometric concepts. Learning models such as the use of historical examples, analysis of ancient manuscripts and exploration of the contributions of previous mathematicians can increase students' awareness and appreciation of the development of mathematics. Therefore, it is recommended for teachers to integrate the history of mathematics in geometry learning to create a more comprehensive and meaningful educational experience.

Abstract

The Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model has been widely applied as an alternative in improving students' mathematical literacy, especially in the midst of low literacy achievement at various levels of education in Indonesia. Through a systematic review of 36 empirical articles published between 2016 and 2025, it was found that PBL consistently has a positive impact on reasoning skills, problem-solving, and the application of mathematical concepts in real-life contexts. The success of this approach is also influenced by various contextual factors, such as students' thinking styles, the role of teachers in facilitating learning, and the use of digital technology. The findings confirm that PBL is an effective learning strategy in building mathematical literacy, as well as making an important contribution for educators and policymakers in developing a more contextual, adaptive, and meaningful learning approach.

Abstract

Abstract Problem-solving skills are important for students to be able to overcome problems in mathematics and everyday life. However, 12th grade students at SMK Negeri 2 Kotabumi still lack adequate problem-solving skills. This study aims to explain how male and female students solve problems in statistics with the topic of single data mean at SMK Negeri 2 Kotabumi. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method. The research subjects consist of two male students and two female students in the 12th grade of the Computer Networking Technology program, selected using purposive sampling. The research instruments include the researcher themselves, a test instrument, and an interview guide. Data collection methods included tests and interviews. To verify data validity, triangulation of time, research persistence, and member checks were used. Data analysis methods included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that male students successfully completed each stage of problem-solving according to Polya. The process begins with understanding the problem, formulating a solution plan, implementing the plan, and finally checking the answer. Female students successfully carried out three of the four problem-solving stages according to Polya, namely understanding the problem, designing a solution, and implementing the plan. However, in the stage of checking the answer, female students often skipped this step.

Abstract

Designing instruction in a structured manner is essential to ensure that the learning process is effective, focused, and aligned with the needs of the learners.. This article aims to develop a learning design on the topic of SPLDV to improve computational thinking skills in junior high school students in East Jakarta City. This research is part of the instructional design of the ADDIE model which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Based on the ADDIE development model, this research is limited to the design stage. The previous steps were developed through an instructional design that carried out a needs analysis in which classroom observations and needs interviews were conducted. The needs analysis was conducted on a class VIII in a junior high school in East Jakarta City with a total of 30 participants. Apart from the needs analysis to the learners, an interview was also conducted with one mathematics teacher at the school. Through the process of analyzing the needs obtained, a learning design has been formed and will be applied to further learning. The results of the discussion have been obtained to improve the process of computational thinking ability on SPLDV material can use the discovery learning model.

Abstract

Evaluating students' mathematical communication ability is crucial for understanding their ability to convey mathematical ideas logically, precisely, and in a structured manner. A good evaluation instrument is the primary tool for measuring this aspect objectively and purposefully. This research is motivated by the low mathematical literacy achievement of Indonesian students in the 2018 PISA survey, which indicates weak mathematical communication ability. This study aims to analyze students' mathematical communication ability from a gender perspective. This study used a quantitative method with a survey design. The survey type used was a cross-sectional survey design. The results showed that female students had higher average scores than male students, but the ANOVA test produced a significance value of 0.621 (> 0.05), indicating no significant difference. This finding shows that mathematical communication ability is more influenced by individual factors. The implication is that teachers need to use adaptive learning approaches and evaluation instruments that address individual student needs.
