Abstract

The Balenggek crowing chicken is a local (native) breed from West Sumatra, specifically found in the PayungSekaki District, Solok Regency. Known for their melodious, cascading crowing sound, these chickens areclassified as singing chickens. They are commonly found in areas bordering forests and around rice fields.The aim of this research was to investigate the effect of incorporating cricket flour into the diet of BalenggekCockerels over a 12-week period on protein consumption, energy consumption, and protein efficiency ratio.The research design employed in this study was an experimental method utilizing a Completely RandomizedDesign (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replications. Each experimental unit consisted of 48 IMR males with bodyweights ranging from 254.47 to 464.73 grams. The treatments included: P0: Without the use of cricket flour P1:Use of 2% cricket flour, P2: Use of 4% cricket flour, P3: Use of 6% cricket flour, The parameters measuredincluded protein consumption, energy consumption, and protein efficiency ratio. The results of the study indicatedthat the inclusion of cricket flour had a highly significant effect (P<0.01) on protein onsumption, energyconsumption, and protein efficiency ratio in the diet of Balenggek crowing chickens. The best outcomes wereobserved with the use of 6% cricket flour, which led to a significant increase in protein consumption, energyconsumption, and protein efficiency ratio.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of using palm fruit on body weight gain, feed consumption, and feed conversion of free-range chickens. It is hoped that the results of this research will provide information for breeders, especially about the benefits of using palm fruit in free-range chicken feed. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 (four) treatments and 5 (five) replications. In the research done with 60 head native chickens 1 (one) month ages. The research results showed that the increase in body weight of native chickens in the P0 treatment = 15.23 grams; P1 = 11.43 grams; P2 = 14.59 grams; and P3 = 14.14 grams. Feed consumption in treatment P0 = 81.44 grams; P1 = 63.85 grams; P2 = 62.86 grams; and P3 = 62.71 grams. Feed conversion in treatment P0 = 5.80; P1 = 5.96; P2 = 4.47; and P3 = 4.65. The research results can be concluded that the use of 50 % palm fruit (P2) native chicken feed produces relatively the same body weight gain as the control treatment (P0), relatively efficient feed consumption compared to other treatments, and relatively the same feed conversion as using 25% palm fruit ( P3).

Abstract

This research aims to determine whether there are differences in the production, fat content, and protein content of milk from Ettawa crossbreed goats given forage and forage plus tofu waste. To determine the measured parameters, statistical analysis was carried out using a two-sample t-test. The parameters measured in this study were the amount of milk production (ml/cow/day), fat content (%), and protein content (%). The results of the research showed that the average production, fat content, and protein content of milk from Ettawa crossbreed goats fed forage with added tofu waste and without tofu waste were respectively 765.83 ml/head/day and 343.33 ml/head/day; 5.71 % and 6.95 %; 3.89 % and 3.52 %. From the research results, it can be concluded that there is a difference between the amount of production, fat content, and protein content of Ettawa crossbreed goat milk given tofu waste.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of fermentation time for rice straw and tithonia (Tithonia diversifolia) on the in-vitro digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, and crude protein as ruminant feed ingredients. The experiment was carried out using a Randomized Block Design with 4 treatments and 4 groups. The treatments in this study were a combination of rice straw and tithonia without fermented by local microorganisms (P0) as a control, a combination of rice straw and tithonia by local microorganisms and 0 days incubation (P1), a combination of rice straw and tithonia by local microorganisms and length incubated for 7 days (P2). , a combination of rice straw and tithonia by local microorganisms was length incubated for 14 days (P3). Based on the results of statistical analysis, shows that the fermentation time of rice straw and tithonia (Tithonia diversifolia) with local microorganisms in the contents of the cow's rumen has an insignificantly different effect (P>0.05) on dry matter digestibility and crude protein digestibility and had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on the digestibility of organic matter.

Abstract

The crown fruit is rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatories, especially flavonoids, which are believed to improve broiler performance, including growth and reducing mortality. This study aims to determine the optimal concentration of crown fruit meal addition in feed on broiler performance. The research design used was a completely randomized design with crown fruit meal as the focus. Four treatments were applied, each with 5 replicates, P1: Standard feed from PT. Charoen Phokpan Indonesia Tbk., for P2, P3, and P4 added crown fruit flour as 1%, 2%, and 3% as feed, respectively. Furthermore, sixty one-day-old chicks (CP 707 strain, without sex difference) were allocated into 20 research units measuring 180 cm x 100 cm x 60 cm, with 3 chicks per unit. The observed variables were feed consumption and weight gain recorded daily from day 8 to day 35, feed conversion, and mortality rate. Data collected were analyzed using SPSS version 27.0, and differences between treatments were tested using DMRT at the 5% significance level. Results showed that there were no significant differences (P>0.05) in feed consumption, weight gain, feed conversion, and mortality. However, the mortality rate of broilers could be reduced to 0.20%. The conclusion of this study is that the addition of crown fruit flour can reduce the mortality rate of broilers due to the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory roles of crown fruit.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of body weight gain, consumption, and feed conversion of Kokok Balenggek chickens that consume rations using palm fruit flour and swallow feces. This study used a completely randomized design with three (3) treatments and five (5) replications. Treatment A = 16.6% palm fruit + 6.5% swallow feces, B = 18% palm fruit + 7% swallow feces, C = 21% palm fruit + 7% swallow feces. This research was carried out by direct observation and weighing in the experimental cage. The results showed an increase in body weight in the statistical analysis treatment P1 = 36.12; P2= 39.32; P3= 33.23; Ration Consumption P1= 28.81 P2= 28.52; P3= 24.71 and feed conversion P1= 0.80; P2= 0.73; P3= 0.84. From the research results, it can be concluded that the effect of the ration formulation based on palm fruit flour and swiftlet feces showed no significant difference (P> 0.05) in body weight gain, feed consumption, and feed conversion of Kokok Balenggek chickens.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of substituting field grass with citronella waste in the ration on the content of dry matter, organic matter, and crude protein as ruminant feed ingredients. This study used a completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments consisted of P0 (50% field grass + 0% citronella waste + 50% concentrate), P1 (40% field grass + 10% citronella waste + 50% concentrate), P2 (30% field grass + 20% citronella waste + 50% concentrate), P3 (20% field grass + 30% citronella waste + 50% concentrate), P4 (10% field grass + 40% citronella waste + 50% concentrate), and P5 (0% field grass + 50% citronella waste + 50% concentrate). The results showed that the treatments had different effects, which were not significant (P>0.05).

Abstract

The aim was to determine the effect of applying several types of manure on plant height, leaf length and leaf width of elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) cv.Taiwan. This study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 6 replications. This study used 24 strokes of CV Taiwan elephant grass, 24 polybags, acid soil, cow, chicken and goat manure. If the F calculated for the treatment is greater than the F table then a further DNMRT test is carried out. This research was conducted in a green house located in Koto Baru, Kubung District, Solok Regency. From the research results it was found that the application of several types of manure had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on plant height, leaf length and leaf width of elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) cv.Taiwan. However, there was no significant effect (P>0.05) on different types of manure (cow, goat and chicken manure). But judging from the numbers, manure that comes from goats provides higher yields.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh lama waktu penyimpanan susu kambing pasteurisasi dengan penambahan daun pandan wangi pada suhu ruang terhadap kualitas susu berdasarkan nilai pH, uji alkohol dan total bakteri pada susu kambing Peranakan Etawah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan yaitu dengan lama waktu penyimpanan pada suhu ruang (0 jam, 3 jam, 6 jam dan 9 jam) dengan 4 ulangan. Hasil penelitian pada rataan kadar pH untuk masing-masing perlakuan adalah, P0 (6,13), P1 (5,78), P2 (5,98), P3 (5,60). Hasil penelitian pada uji alkohol adalah P0 (-), P1 (+), P2 (+), P3 (+). Hasil penelitian pada rataan TPC adalah, P0 (35,00×10-10), P1 (35,25×10-10), P2 (28,75×10-10), P3 (19,75×10-10). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penambahan daun pandan wangi memberikan pengaruh yang sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap kadar pH dan nilai TPC, serta memberikan hasil yang negatif pada uji alkohol pada susu pasteurisasi tanpa lama penyimpanan. Perlakuan terbaik terdapat pada perlakuan tanpa lama simpan untuk kadar pH dan uji alkohol sedangkan untuk nilai TPC yang terbaik didapat pada perlakuan dengan lama penyimpanan 9 jam. Kata kunci: susu pasteurisasi, daun pandan wangi, pH, uji alkohol, TPC.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh paritas induk kerbau yang berbeda terhadap nilai kadar air, mineral kalsium, mineral phospor dan pH dadih kerbau. Penelitian ini dilakukan dari tanggal 8 Januari 2024 sampai 20 Februari 2024 di Laboratorium Bioteknologi Ternak Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Andalas. Untuk mengetahui perbedaan terhadap parameter yang diukur dilakukan analisis statistik menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Parameter yang diukur dalam penelitian ini adalah kadar air, mineral kalsium, mineral fosfor, dan nilai pH pada dadih kerbau. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan rataan kadar air 57,29%: 57,29%: 61,17%, rataan kadar mineral kalsium 15,48%: 18,5%:19,86% rataan mineral phospor 5,03% : 5.0% : 4,84% dan nilai pH 4,58: 4,52: 4,50 Dapat disimpulkan bahwa dadih kerbau dengan paritas induk yang berbeda (paritas 2, paritas 3, paritas 4) memberikan pengaruh berbeda tidak nyata (P>0,05) pada kandungan kadar air, kandungan mineral kalsium, mineral phospor dan pH dadih kerbau.
