Abstract

This paper examines Nigeria foreign policy and business ethics, particularly its bilateral relations with China between 1990s and 2020. It further explores China’s interest in the oil sector. It argues that China’s quest for oil security has attracted it to many African countries. Although, Nigeria and China diplomatic relations began in February 1971, its relations were not sealed until 1999, when the military surrendered power to a democratically elected government. It explains that a number of bilateral agreements between the two countries endured China’s readiness to finance infrastructural development in Nigeria. This paper further evaluates the economic and trade links between the two countries and its impact on Nigeria economic performance. With the use of appropriate statistical data, integration of primary and secondary sources, the paper addresses the security challenges to China’s quest to penetrate Nigeria’s oil sector in the Niger Delta. It concludes that since China is the second largest importer of crude oil in the world, there is urgent need for Nigerian government to re-direct its foreign policy in order to ensure smooth relations with China. This would to a large extent enhance the acceleration of socio-economic development of the oil producing communities in Niger Delta and the country at large.

Abstract

Great powers within the global system are deemed to be financially and militarily powerful to stand behind the multilateral institutions as sentinel and use such as a tool of achieving national interests. In this case, most researchers have toed such a line of reasoning while sidelining the role regional powers could also play in multilateral intuitions at regional and sub-regional levels. The current research, therefore, queries the role of regional hegemony in the employment of multilateral institutions in achieving foreign policy goals. It seeks to provide basic elements underlining the involvement of Nigeria in international organizations. As Nigeria conducts most of its external relations through multilateral diplomacy, it is imperative to provide a conceptual basis upon which such a role can be defined. In doing this we present the contemporary case study of Nigeria’s involvement in Mail to buttress our claim. The article relies on the theoretical precept of Regional Security Complex which emphasizes the role of state actors in the multilateral institutions to stem the tides of regional insecurity. In addition, the study uses newspapers, textbooks, speeches, archival records, articles in journals, and internet sources. In utilizing all these data sources, the use of latent content analysis and textual mining in interpreting and analyzing the data is upheld. Thus, the research found that Nigeria needs to be more proactive and assertive in Africa’s regional institutions in order to mitigate the insecurity issue in West Africa. The research, therefore, concludes that Nigeria, as the sole regional power in West Africa, needs to act fast to prevent the total collapse of security architecture in West Africa and the Sahel.

The research method used is qualitative. This study aims to find out the problem of dowry death in India and the collaboration of UN Women and the Government of India in dealing with the problem of dowry death. The Indian government has also begun to think step by step that dealing with this case is still difficult to overcome, because the patriarchal culture is still strong. Although there are still many women who are not brave enough to report dowry violence.

Abstract

This paper investigates the internal restructuring of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) under Xi Jinping’s leadership and its influence on policy-making and foreign policy behavior. Drawing on an integrated theoretical framework that combines the Bureaucratic Politics Model and Two-Level Game Theory, the study examines how China's increasingly centralized political architecture allows for a more coherent implementation of policies from the top down. The paper argues that the restructuring of the CCP through the consolidation of decision-making power within the Politburo Standing Committee, the elevation of Party-led commissions, and the expanding control over state bureaucracies not only enhance administrative efficiency but also to strategically align domestic priorities with China’s international ambitions. Domestic economic policies, often managed by Party-led bureaucracies, now function as instruments of external leverage. This analysis contributes to a more nuanced understanding of China's domestic–international policy nexus, particularly how centralized authority and controlled bureaucratic channels reduce fragmentation in domestic preferences, thereby shaping China’s negotiation behavior, strategic signaling, and foreign policy consistency.

Abstract

Secessionist agitation in Africa remains a recurring challenge in the postcolonial era, largely shaped by ethnic nationalism, identity politics, and systemic marginalization. These movements are often rooted in grievances stemming from political exclusion, economic inequality, and historical injustices against minority ethnic groups. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Nigeria and the Ambazonia separatist movement in Cameroon are examples of such struggles, seeking autonomy in response to perceived domination by the majority ethnic groups. While the IPOB’s agitation traces its origins to the 1967 declaration of Biafra and the subsequent civil war, the Ambazonian crisis is a consequence of the longstanding marginalization of Anglophone Cameroonians in a Francophone-dominated state structure. A qualitative research method that interrogates secondary data sources, including historical archives, policy documents, and scholarly literature was adopted. The findings indicate that these movements are not merely relics of colonial legacies and ethnic grievances but are also shaped by contemporary socio-economic challenges, systemic exclusion, and state repression. Moreover, the security implications extend beyond Nigeria and Cameroon, posing significant threats to the regional stability in West Africa. Therefore, inclusive governance, equitable resource distribution, and diplomatic interventions by regional and international organizations are essential for mitigating tensions. Meanwhile, political restructuring, economic reforms, and sustained dialogue remain critical pathways for achieving sustainable peace and stability in Nigeria and Cameroon.

Abstract

This research aims to explain Indonesia's diplomacy to make Bahasa Indonesia an official language at UNESCO. This research was conducted because Indonesian is one of the languages with the largest number of speakers in the world. In addition, Indonesian is also a form of Indonesia's soft power to the world. This research applied the concept of language as power and diplomacy theory for analysis, utilizing a literature review approach. The results of this study show that Indonesian diplomacy is carried out through shutle diplomacy and total diplomacy, by mobilizing all components of the nation as well as sustainable actions in accordance with the mandate of the Ministry of Education and Culture Regulation. So that all elements of the nation have a duty to do this through various ways. One of them is done through educational channels such as BIPA, or cooperative institutions with governments in various countries to study Indonesia comprehensively. This BIPA phenomenon is the first step to learning about Indonesia holistically. Indonesian diplomacy is also successful because various countries have used Indonesian as part of communication in addition to the official language, for example Vietnam, Canada, Poland, Australia etc.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze how the role of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia Kuala Lumpur in tackling the problem of the rights of Indonesian women migrant workers. With the increasing population in Indonesia, job opportunities within the country are limited, which has led to swelling unemployment rates in Indonesia, and Indonesians migrating to neighboring countries, such as Malaysia. Workers, especially women, are often trapped in unfair and high-risk work situations, such as being denied their rights to unpaid wages for long periods. Violations of women migrant workers' rights include lack of legal protection, massive labor exploitation, and gender discrimination that often occurs in the workplace. The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia Kuala Lumpur's involvement in facilitating these rights is crucial. The researcher used a descriptive qualitative research approach, the initial research information came from interviews with relevant parties, such as reports, articles, books, or pre-existing databases. The Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur is also responsible for providing protection, assistance, and advocacy for Indonesian women migrant workers who experience problems in Malaysia. The Indonesian government and the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur need to raise public awareness about the importance of protecting the rights of women migrant workers and the dangers faced by them. By using more effective policies to protect the rights of women migrant workers, such as policies on the protection of migrant workers' rights.

Abstract

As a minority, Tibetans struggle to realize self-determination amidst the onslaught of oppression by China so that they can achieve freedom. Using a constructivist approach, this research analyzes China's dynamics in suppressing the fulfillment of Tibetan self-determination. The suppression carried out by China represents its more assertive position in the problems in Tibet, as well as being an idea that shows the interest in aligning Chinese identity, which makes the problems of minority groups a threat of separatism. The findings of this research include several main notes. China has succeeded in suppressing Tibet's position through various actions ranging from strengthening constructions related to Tibetan history and identity that can benefit its internal position, emphasizing securitization in the Tibetan issue to expand its sovereignty in peripheral areas, practicing modern colonialism, and strengthening the practice of particularism and creating a "New Era of China" that can limit Tibetan society. Thus, the self-determination that the Tibetan people want to achieve will only be an unrealizable wishful thinking.

Abstract

France is one of the great countries present in this world. The rapid progress that this country has itself is not without reason, reflecting on the historical record of how this country was able to influence the world through strong hegemony since hundreds of years ago and supported by stable politics and economy and the magnitude of France's role in the world makes the country quite respected. The development of an increasingly modern world has an impact on the massive development of science and technology as well, without exception to world politics, especially specifically with state diplomacy. The method used by the state to spread its wings of influence to the international world or commonly known as diplomacy has also experienced increasingly significant developments by presenting several other life-supporting elements that can be used as tools for the state to spread their wings of influence. One type of diplomacy that has massively occurred lately is sports diplomacy, as for what is meant by sports diplomacy here is the use of sports both techniques and sports events as a diplomatic tool to influence the world. This research itself applies the method of literature study and descriptive analysis aimed at examining how France's influence in using the Paris 2024 Olympics event as a tool of their sports diplomacy and the impact that comes from the international sporting event.

Abstract

The leadership transition from President Joko Widodo to President Prabowo Subianto marked a change in the style and direction of Indonesia’s foreign policy. These changes are influenced by the domestic interests and personal character of each leader in making various political decisions that are important for Indonesia globally. This difference is essential to analyse, especially in the midst of rising global geopolitical tensions, multipolarity challenges, and pressing national needs. Therefore, this study raises the research question of why Indonesia’s foreign policy orientation at the beginning of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration shifted in approach compared to the era of President Joko Widodo’s administration? To answer the research question, this article utilises Gideon Rose’s Innenpolitik theory, finding that the foreign policies produced by the two leaders were based on domestic configurations, including political and economic ideology, national character, and socio-economic structure. Through a qualitative approach with narrative analysis, this article also finds that personal interpretations formed from background, professional experience, and individual characteristics influence the foreign policy orientation of the two leaders.
