Abstract

Abstract -This study introduces a comprehensive simulation model using agent-based modeling (ABM) to assist local governments in developing disaster training scenarios, focusing on earthquake-induced infrastructure damage, sediment disasters, and evacuation behavior. The model comprises three key components: a disaster simulator predicting infrastructure damage, a sediment disaster model replicating damage within warning zones, and an evacuation behavior model representing individual decision-making. Developed with the SOARS toolkit and visualized using Python and ArcGIS Pro, the model effectively captures disaster scenarios. Although infrastructure damage predictions were slightly lower than historical data, they were successfully incorporated into the scenarios. The sediment disaster model accurately reflected trends in the number of affected agents, like past events, and the evacuation model demonstrated consistent behavior patterns across simulations. Additionally, new insights emerged, such as cases where the number of evacuating agents exceeded shelter capacity. Municipalities can employ this model to enhance their disaster response capabilities and conduct more realistic and diverse disaster simulations, ultimately improving the effectiveness of their disaster preparedness training programs.  Keywords - Agent-based modeling, disaster simulation, evacuation behavior, SOARS toolkit, disaster tabletop drills

Abstract

Abstract. In recent years, crowd congestion around large-scale sports facilities has emerged as a significant issue in urban safety and event management. This study evaluates the design and surrounding infrastructure of a planned new sports facility by simulating pedestrian flow using the Social Force Model and the S4 Simulation System. The facility, accommodating 15,000 people and located about 400 meters from the nearest train station, is expected to generate high post-event pedestrian volume. Nine simulation scenarios were tested by varying destination ratios and walking speeds based on age distribution. Results revealed that although average travel times remained similar across scenarios, significant differences in modal times and congestion points emerged depending on the agent distribution and routing assumptions. Key stagnation areas included the deck entrance and branching points within the facility. The study confirmed that while the basic design met safety requirements, inefficiencies in pedestrian flow—due to limited infrastructure and overly narrow walkways—hindered rapid dispersal. Based on the findings, the study recommends modifications to the infrastructure plan and plans for enhanced crowd guidance. The research findings underscore the importance of incorporating flow-based simulations into facility planning, contributing not only to visitor safety and satisfaction but also to data-driven urban development around large event venues. Abstract

Abstract. The entrepreneurial characteristics of opportunity-seeking, proactiveness, collaboration, and customer and market foresight are essential drivers of success for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Previous studies have widely examined entrepreneurial orientation (EO), network capability (NC), inter-firm partnerships (IFP), and business performance (BP), yet their interactions and implications within the demographic context of MSME entrepreneurs remain underexplored. The drive of MSME actors to innovate, collaborate, and expand into broader markets serves as a vital foundation for enhancing competitiveness and business performance. However, Indonesia’s rapidly evolving MSME landscape requires fresh insights that reflect the distinctive and actual on-the-ground realities faced by these enterprises. This study aims to measure the dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation, network capability, inter-firm partnership, and marketpreneur characteristics and how these relate descriptively to MSME business performance across different demographic categories in Indonesia. This research adopts a descriptive quantitative approach involving 153 MSME respondents in Indonesia, and the research analysis is conducted through cross-tabulation analysis and categorization using the Total Cell Ratio (TCR). The findings reveal variations in entrepreneurial orientation, networking skills, partnership engagement, and marketpreneur behavior across gender, education, and job position groups. The study contributes to the literature by presenting an integrated measurement of MSME entrepreneurial competencies while contextualizing demographic associated with. Furthermore, it provides insights for policymakers and MSME practitioners to strengthen entrepreneurial capacity through networking and market-driven innovation. Keywords: Network capability, inter-firm partnerships, business performance, entrepreneurship orientation, marketpreneur (tetrapreneur model), MSME actor demographics

Abstract

Abstract. This study investigates the influence of Digital Financial Literacy (DFL), Digital Payment adoption, and Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Lending adoption on the Sustainability of Gen Z Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Bandung, Indonesia. This study is motivated by the paradox that while the national financial inclusion index exceeded the government target of 75 percent, whereas financial literacy lagged at 38 percent in 2019. This gap highlights a crucial constraint on the effective utilization of emerging FinTech by entrepreneurs. Utilizing a quantitative descriptive approach, data were collected through a questionnaire administered to 100 Gen Z entrepreneurs in Bandung, with analyses conducted using SEM-PLS. Results indicate that Gen Z respondents are on average well-literate in digital finance. Digital financial literacy and payment gateway adoption significantly effect MSME sustainability, whereas P2P lending adoption has no significant effect. Theses findings suggest that strengthening Gen Z’s financial skills and payment technologies is crucial for MSME sustainability, while trust and risk issues may limit P2P lending’s role. We recommend targeted financial education and supportive fintech policies to empower young entrepreneurs Keywords: Digital financial literacy, payment gateway, P2P Lending, MSMEs, Sustainability, Gen Z

Abstract

Abstract. The rapid growth of Indonesia's IT industry is accompanied by a high rate of project failures, prompting a critical examination of traditional success factors. While organizational culture, top management support, and team competence are widely advocated, their direct impact remains ambiguous. This study examines the intricate relationship between these factors, team performance, and project success within Indonesian software companies. Using a quantitative cross-sectional survey, data were collected from 67 professionals in a Jakarta-based IT company and analyzed with PLS-SEM. The results reveal a pivotal finding: organizational culture and competence do not directly affect project success but exert their influence entirely through the mediating mechanism of team performance. Conversely, the direct and indirect effects of top management support were found to be non-significant. This study uniquely establishes team performance as the critical mediator, challenging linear models and offering a more nuanced understanding of project success pathways. The practical contribution is a strategic reorientation for managers and HR, emphasizing that investments in collaborative team development and a supportive culture are more consequential for achieving project outcomes than relying solely on top-down directives or individual competencies. This research provides a validated framework for enhancing project sustainability in dynamic IT environments. Abstract

Abstract.  This study explores how Artificial Intelligence has been adopted in communication at the higher education level by comparing institutions in Jakarta, Indonesia, and Perth, Australia. Grounded in Media Richness Theory and Cognitive Dissonance Theory, this study investigates how AI-based tools reshape communications practices, personalization of learning, and institutional adaptation in two divergent cultural and infrastructural contexts. The qualitative design involved collecting data through in-depth interviews with 32 participants —16 in each city —along with non-participant observations and document analysis of AI policies and institutional reports. All interview transcripts were thematically analyzed using NVivo 14 software, supported by Braun and Clarke's (2023) six-phase framework. Coding revealed four key themes: (1) AI as an administrative enabler, (2) pedagogical personalization and engagement, (3) cultural and ethical preparedness, and (4) institutional and policy alignment. Triangulating interview, observation, and document data further enhanced the credibility and depth of interpretation. For instance, results from Perth indicate a higher use of AI, with richer media interactions and greater readiness for institutional adaptation, compared to the fairly fragmentary, administratively inspired development of such use in Jakarta. The study adds to the theory by connecting communication richness and dissonance reduction mechanisms with specific AI adoption behaviors. It sets out some empirically based policy, training, and ethics governance recommendations for education.  Keywords: Artificial Intelligence; Academic Communication; NVivo; Thematic Analysis; Comparative Study; Jakarta and Perth

Abstract

Abstract. Digitalization is an important thing for companies today. Many start-ups utilize technology to improve efficiency, flexibility, and connectivity in various aspects of business. The Indonesian Information and Communication Technology Creative Industry Society (MIKTI) said that the development of start-ups that utilize digital technology in Indonesia is very high and experiencing rapid growth (Rahman, 2024). Indonesia ranked sixth globally at the beginning of 2024 in terms of the highest number of start-ups, totaling 2,562, while Jakarta was recognized as the city with the second-best start-up ecosystem at the global Top Emerging Ecosystem level (Startupranking, 2024). The millennial generation is one of the generations that will fill important positions in companies in the future, a generation that is close to technology, they are often called "Digital Natives". However, this generation has low work engagement, which is in line with the problems with human resources (HR) experienced by the start-up industry. This study aims to test the effect of transformational leadership on work engagement through psychological empowerment as a mediator carried out on millennial generation employees of start-ups in DKI Jakarta. This study uses a quantitative research design with a questionnaire distribution. A total of 203 respondents were analyzed using AMOS 21 to test the research hypothesis. The results showed that transformational leadership has a positive effect on work engagement. In addition, the psychological empowerment variable mediates the effect of transformational leadership on work engagement. Abstract

Abstract: This study investigates how digital transformation enhances organizational resilience in women’s fashion SMEs through the roles of digital transformation, innovation capability and organizational agility, grounded in Dynamic Capabilities Theory. Utilizing non-probability purposive sampling, data were collected from 92 SMEs in the Jabodetabek region and analyzed via SEM-PLS and SPSS 15.0. Findings indicate that digital transformation significantly strengthens innovation capability and directly enhances organizational resilience, though it does not significantly affect organizational agility. Innovation capability emerges as a robust predictor of both organizational agility and resilience, while agility itself directly contributes to resilience. The study extends Dynamic Capabilities Theory to resource-constrained creative-sector SMEs in developing economies, demonstrating their capacity to cultivate strategic capabilities amid turbulence. It addresses a critical gap in the literature by empirically examining the interplay among digital transformation, innovation capability, agility, and resilience within an SME context. Practical implications suggest that support institutions, business coaches, and policymakers can leverage this model to design targeted development programs that foster adaptive, proactive, and resilient SMEs capable of navigating uncertainties such as volatile consumer demand, economic instability, and digital disruption
