Abstract

Abstract. Retirement usually occurs in the age range of 55–65, depending on the type of job. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, it may not be adequate to measure retirement only by age because many employees were forced to retire early. Thus, the issue of retirement planning has once again become a relevant issue to discuss. Most previous studies explain that retirement planning uses the theory of planned behavior, but unlike these, this study approaches retirement planning with the knowledge-based view theory. The theory of knowledge-based view can explain knowledge as a fundamental resource for an individual’s ability to plan retirement. Data was collected for this study from a survey for employees and professionals in Indonesia and was analyzed with PLS-SEM. Empirical evidence showed that knowledge sharing actually weakens the influence of family financial education on retirement planning. Therefore, it can be concluded that knowledge sharing cannot strengthen family education to make better retirement planning. This study also revealed the possibility that knowledge sharing could change employee retirement planning into other financial plans that are also beneficial for retirement. Keywords: Retirement planning; theory planned behavior; knowledge-based view; knowledge sharing; financial planning Abstrak. Kata kunci: Perencanaan pensiun; theory planned behavior; knowledge-based view; berbagi pengetahuan; perencanaan keuangan

Abstract

Abstract. Work in the gig economy is defined as short-term and task-based jobs mediated by digital platforms. In Indonesia, the emergence of an online motorcycle taxi driver platform in 2015 marked the discourse about the gig economy as the future alternative of jobs on the one hand, and as a new form of exploitation of labor on the other hand. This study is the first to define the typology of the gig economy and identify the platforms of the gig economy service providers in Indonesia. Furthermore, this study estimates the number of gig economy workers by using micro data from the National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) released by the Central Statistics Agency. It was found that 0.3 to 1.7% of Indonesian workers participated in the gig economy as their primary job. This study also compares the characteristics of gig workers in the transportation sector and in the other service sectors with the overall demographics of the workforce. It was found that gig workers shared more characteristics with the formal workers than with the informal workers. Finally, this study maps the distribution of gig workers throughout Indonesia at the city/district level. It can be concluded that the gig economy is an urban phenomenon. Most gig workers in the transportation sector are concentrated in the provincial capital and in Metropolitan Jakarta. Meanwhile, gig workers in other service sectors are distributed more in tier 2 cities in Java. Keywords: Gig economy, gig worker, digital worker, labor economics, jobs Abstrak.

Abstract

Abstract. The tourism sector, the economy, and the industries that support it have all been severely damaged by the worldwide pandemic. Several of the tourism industry's market segments, such as lodging, dining, and travel agencies, are at saturation. To maintain a sustainable competitive advantage and achieve the intended results, companies need to have a well-defined plan of action to navigate the constantly shifting business landscape. This study will examine the mediating role of organizational strategic orientation in the performance of travel agency companies in the face of environmental uncertainty. The data is collected via a questionnaire and then PLS-SEM analysis is performed. The results show that the choice of an organization's strategic orientation, which includes market and entrepreneurial orientations that can impact learning orientation and organizational performance of travel agency companies, is influenced by technology uncertainty. As a component of a vibrant and alluring travel industry, travel agency businesses must be flexible and inventive in the face of ongoing technological advancements. This can be achieved through organizational strategy orientation, which emphasizes market and entrepreneurial orientations to boost the performance of travel agency businesses. Abstract

Abstract. The aims of this study is to examine the antecedents of rural bank (BPR) employees' performance in Bali province, Indonesia. Data collected through the use of the questionnaire. Research respondents were 65 people from all BPR Operational Section Heads who used it as a saturated sample. The SEM PLS analysis was performed to investigate the variables of employees motivation, organizational citizenship behaviour (OCB), and employee productivity. The result of the analysis showed that all hypotheses tested were significantly positively related. Through this study, it can conclude that employee performance in the banking sector supported by work motivation and OCB. These indicate the performance of BPR employees. It is necessary to strengthen the variable of work motivation and the OCB itself. Mediation study revealed that the OCB variable mediated the influence of job motivation on employee performance in a positive and significant manner. These suggest that while motivation for working and OCB grows, employee productivity in BPRs in Badung Regency and the city of Denpasar, Bali correspondingly increases. Abstract

Abstract. This study examined the impact of political connections on firms' performance. Using bibliometric data, we analysed key research areas, top journals, important studies, leading scholars, and prominent institutions and countries in this field of research. Our review of 709 articles demonstrates a significant increase in publications on this topic, highlighting the valuable role of political ties for firms across both emerging and developed economies. Greater attention is paid to not only business and economic areas, such as market and financial performance, corporate governance, and mergers and acquisitions, but also the economic consequences of green and sustainable practices on the performance of politically connected firms. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of research on political connections, this study provides valuable insights for decision-makers in using political connections as a non-market strategy by mapping knowledge development in the research field over the last two decades, as well as facilitating future research to more easily identify relevant references and presenting emerging themes in the research domain. Abstract

Abstract. Advances in technology have brought significant changes to the economic world, notably through online platforms that have made consumers more cautious when purchasing cosmetics products. When selecting products, consumers weigh perceived benefits against sacrifices. The benefits/sacrifices ratio is presumed to influence customer satisfaction and subsequently lead to a repurchase intention. This quantitative study tests these relationships using the cosmetics market as the empirical context. It involved 113 respondents who were purchasing cosmetic products for the first time (purposive sampling). The data analysis results indicate that the benefits/sacrifices ratio significantly and positively affects repurchase intention and customer satisfaction. Moreover, customer satisfaction also significantly influences repurchase intention. Furthermore, the results support customer satisfaction as a mediator between the benefits/sacrifices ratio and repurchase intention. Abstract

Abstract. SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises), including batik (traditional Indonesian technique for decorating fabric using wax-resist dyeing) SMEs, significantly contribute to GDP and employment in Indonesia. Pekalongan regency is one of the centers of batik production and development in Indonesia, which occurs through interconnected SMEs, commonly called clusters. Currently, batik cluster SMEs in Pekalongan do not have a competitive advantage in the market, characterized by declining sales, inability to meet consumer demand, errors in the production process, low technology absorption, and lack of innovation. One of the causes of this situation is the declining interest of workers in employment at batik SMEs. Therefore, there must be an effort to increase worker interest to create a competitive advantage for batik SMEs in Pekalongan. This study used the soft system methodology (SSM) approach with strategic entrepreneurship as the theoretical framework. The resource persons were 13 owners/managers of batik SMEs in Pekalongan, plus two experts from external SMEs. This research produced a conceptual model of human resources management strategies from stakeholders to increase workers' interest in batik SMEs in Pekalongan by intensifying batik artists regeneration efforts through revitalizing batik tourism in Pekalongan. Such efforts involve vocational schools for batik, intensifying batik content in the media, creating national/international batik events, formulating WSS (Wage Structure and Scale)  for workers, and improving and standardizing workers' competencies. Keywords: batik, competitive advantage, SME, soft system methodology, worker attraction.
