ABDIRA (Journal of Community Service): Journal of Community Service contains the results of community service and empowerment activities in the form of application of various fields of science including health, education, engineering, agriculture, agriculture, social humanities, computers, entrepreneurship and economics. The purpose of this journal is to disseminate ideas and results of the dedication and research conducted by universities that can be applied in society. ABDIRA contains various activities carried out in handling and overcoming various problems that occur in society by applying science and technology which can then be useful for improving community welfare.

Abstract

Rural poverty remains a major issue affecting community well-being, particularly in areas like Bojong Menteng, Banten. Village officials play a crucial role in designing and implementing empowerment programs to address poverty. However, numerous challenges remain, including limited capacity for effective communication between village officials and the community. Ineffective communication can hinder the success of village empowerment programs, therefore, strengthening the communication capacity of village officials is crucial. The targeted outcome of this program is that Bojong Menteng Village officials will have a better understanding of effective communication in managing community empowerment programs. The targeted outcomes are improved communication skills among village officials, the creation of synergy between the village government and the community, and the more effective implementation of village programs to alleviate poverty. This program is also expected to provide a communication model that can be applied by other villages facing similar challenges.

Abstract

The phenomenon of promiscuous sexual behavior among adolescents has resulted in an increasing trend of premarital sex and abortion cases. Premarital sex is no longer considered taboo, even among teenagers. One effort that can be taken to prevent unwanted pregnancies that lead to abortion is through counseling that emphasizes understanding the legal consequences of abortion for adolescents through community service activities. This community service activity aims to provide counseling to students about abortion and the legal consequences of abortion crimes. This activity was held at a high school in Kulonprogo Regency, Yogyakarta, and was attended by 80 students. The results obtained from community service activity were an increase in knowledge related to abortion and legal consequences of abortion crimes. Students have understood that they will be more careful in interacting with the opposite sex, thereby minimizing occurrence of unwanted pregnancies and having an impact on reducing behavior of abortion crimes.

Abstract

This community service activity was conducted to address the challenges of digital technology utilization in learning at SD Negeri 013, Desa Perkebunan Sungai Parit, where the use of digital devices and applications was limited. The method involved direct socialization, training, and mentoring for teachers using a participatory approach over two months. The results showed significant improvements in teachers’ understanding of digital technology (from 45% to 85%), their ability to operate digital learning applications (from 30% to 80%), and the transformation of teaching methods into more interactive and technology-based approaches (from 25% to 75%). Obstacles such as limited devices and unstable internet were addressed through additional training and alternative teaching methods. These results highlight the importance of continuous training and intensive mentoring to optimize digital technology use, thereby enhancing the quality of education in elementary schools.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the quality of concrete bricks and paving blocks at the “Utama Bangunan” MSME by utilizing a solar-powered concrete mixer. This innovation was designed to address the limitations of electricity supply and reduce operational costs that previously relied on conventional energy sources. The implementation method included solar panel installation, training on machine operation and maintenance, and production process assistance. The results showed improvements in mixture homogeneity, reduced mixing time, and a 35% decrease in defective products. Additionally, operational costs decreased by an average of 20% per month. The implementation of this technology not only enhanced production quality and quantity but also promoted business sustainability through the use of renewable energy. The program’s success serves as a replicable model for similar MSMEs in rural areas with solar energy potential.

Abstract

Amidst the global economic challenges caused by the recession, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Kebumen face significant pressure in maintaining their business sustainability and growth. This training aims to equip the owners and managers of MSMEs, particularly those involved in Rukun (Rumah UMKM Kebumen), with effective and adaptive marketing strategies to thrive during the recession. The training methods include interactive workshops, case studies, and marketing simulations relevant to the local conditions in Kebumen. The results of the training indicate that participants were able to identify new market opportunities, develop creative marketing plans, and enhance their digital skills to expand their marketing reach. This training is expected to make a significant contribution to increasing the competitiveness of MSMEs in Kebumen and inspire innovative and sustainable marketing practices.

Abstract

MSMEs play a strategic role in the national economy, but amid the development of the digital era and the rise of online shops, many MSMEs have not optimally utilized visual branding strategies. This study aims to improve the competitiveness of MSMEs through community service activities in the form of logo rebranding assistance and online shop card creation for Basreng Bojot MSMEs. The method used is qualitative descriptive with a participatory approach, encompassing assessment, implementation, and post-activity evaluation stages. The results of the activity indicate that the updated logo, which is more representative, and the addition of an online shop card containing contact information and social media links have successfully enhanced the visual appeal of the products, strengthened the brand image, and facilitated interaction with consumers. Positive feedback from consumers and increased understanding among SME operators regarding design and branding indicate that rebranding has a significant impact on business development. This activity contributes to strengthening visual branding literacy among SME operators and serves as a reference for creativity-based marketing strategies in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of a batik training program organized by LPK Prima Cilegon on community economic empowerment through a non-formal education approach. The program is designed to improve batik-making skills and foster entrepreneurship based on local potential. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results show that the training not only enhanced participants’ technical skills but also encouraged entrepreneurial spirit and expanded market access through digital platforms. The program had a positive impact on increasing income, strengthening social networks, and preserving local culture. The main targets of the program were women, housewives, and productive-age individuals without stable employment. Support from local government, industry, and community groups contributed to the program’s success as a participatory and sustainable model of skill-based economic empowerment.

Abstract

This community service program was conducted as an effort to empower target groups through the implementation of technological innovations relevant to local needs. The approach included training, mentoring, and direct application of technology, enabling the community to acquire practical and sustainable skills. The program focused not only on enhancing individual capacity but also on strengthening group institutions to become more independent and capable of developing local potential. The results indicated an increase in knowledge, skills, and motivation among community members in managing their resources and enterprises. Furthermore, the program created an effective collaboration model between universities, local government, and community groups. Therefore, this initiative is expected to provide a tangible contribution to sustainable development based on active community participation.

Abstract

Character building should be done from an early age. The Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children movement launched by the government is a good practice to support character education, including character education in early childhood. The purpose of this socialization activity is to increase kindergarten teachers' understanding of the importance of children's character education and the consistency of kindergarten teachers to support the early childhood character building learning program in Cipocok District, Serang City. The research method used a participatory qualitative approach through interactive socialization, simulation, presentation, and focus group discussion. The main focus was the implementation of character education through the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children program. The results of the activity showed the high enthusiasm of kindergarten teachers to implement the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children program. Kindergarten teachers are also optimistic that the generation of Indonesian children will be better with the commitment and consistency between the government, schools, and parents, in implementing quality and sustainable education and care programs.

Abstract

The low level of pedagogical skills among teachers in designing technology-based learning presents a significant challenge at Attarkiyah Islamiah Institute, Southern Thailand. Teachers face difficulties in creating digital teaching materials, utilizing interactive media, and fostering collaboration for instructional innovation. This community service project aimed to enhance teachers’ pedagogical competence through contextual, collaborative, and practical technology-based training. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR) with a participatory training approach, hands-on practice (microteaching), group work, and pre- and post-intervention evaluations. Twenty teachers from various disciplines participated in the program. The results indicated a significant improvement in three key areas: (1) the ability to design digital learning, (2) the skill to use interactive digital media, and (3) collaboration in developing innovative learning products. The training fostered a shift in teachers’ work culture—from individualistic to collaborative, and from passive to active and innovative. Moreover, the program reinforced the relevance of the TPACK framework, the learning-by-doing approach, and the Professional Learning Community (PLC) model in the context of Islamic education within a minority community. This initiative demonstrates that collaborative, practice-based training tailored to local values is effective in developing teacher competencies and promoting meaningful transformation in teaching practices.
