ABDIRA (Journal of Community Service): Journal of Community Service contains the results of community service and empowerment activities in the form of application of various fields of science including health, education, engineering, agriculture, agriculture, social humanities, computers, entrepreneurship and economics. This journal is published regularly twice a year in April and October. The purpose of this journal is to disseminate ideas and results of the dedication and research conducted by universities that can be applied in society. ABDIRA contains various activities carried out in handling and overcoming various problems that occur in society by applying science and technology which can then be useful for improving community welfare.

Abstract

The limited digital literacy and low online visibility of micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) in Desa Pasirnangka have hindered their ability to compete in an increasingly digital marketplace. This community service program was designed to address these challenges by strengthening the digital marketing capacity of local business owners. The main objective of the initiative was to introduce practical digital promotion strategies and improve the use of online business tools that can enhance customer reach. The program was implemented through a series of socialization sessions, structured training, and hands-on practice, which included creating Google Maps business points, setting up WhatsApp Business profiles, and designing promotional banners. The results show a significant increase in participants’ understanding of digital marketing concepts, alongside their ability to independently create digital business assets. These improvements contributed to better online discoverability and increased confidence among UMKM in utilizing digital platforms for business development. The program demonstrates that targeted digital literacy interventions can generate meaningful and sustainable impacts on local economic empowerment.

Abstract

Peppermint oil has many health benefits, including relaxation, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and used for nausea and vomiting. One of the benefits of peppermint oil as an analgesic has the potential to be developed into products such as massage oil to relieve pain. The purpose of the Community Service Program (PKM) activity is to increase knowledge and skills through counseling and training in making massage oil as a pain reliever with peppermint oil as the main ingredient. The participants of this activity were 18 health cadres from Sempalwadak Village, Bululawang District, Malang Regency. The method used was providing socialization through PowerPoint media and training in making peppermint oil massage. Evaluation of the measurement of understanding of community service participants by comparing the average pretest and posttest scores and evaluating the abilities of activity participants through a skills assessment sheet. The results of the participant knowledge evaluation showed that there was a success of the PkM activity as indicated by an increase in knowledge based on the average pretest-posttest value of 51.91% and the average skill score of participants was 3.78 with a very good category. This demonstrates that the information presented was well understood by the participants and indicates the success of the Community Service Program (PKM) activities.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance renewable energy literacy and improve the skills of chemistry teachers at Madrasah Aliyah (MA) in DKI Jakarta in developing a hydrogen fuel cell model based on polymer electrolyte membrane (PEMFC) technology. The training was conducted in three stages: preliminary, implementation, and evaluation. The initial stage involved a needs analysis and data collection on teachers’ understanding of fuel cell technology. The implementation stage consisted of lectures, discussions, simulations, assignments, and direct observation of participants’ practical skills in designing the fuel cell model. The evaluation stage assessed the training materials, instructors, and participants to determine the program’s effectiveness. The results showed a significant improvement in teachers’ conceptual understanding and practical competence in integrating hydrogen fuel cell technology into chemistry learning. This program is expected to foster innovative teachers capable of utilising renewable energy technology in classroom practice and improving the quality of students’ academic assessment.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to optimize family empowerment in Sasak Panjang Village through the cultivation of backyard fruit plants to enhance household economic resilience. The program was designed with a participatory approach integrating fruit plant cultivation, healthy yard management, and the strengthening of family financial literacy. The activity stages included an initial survey, community discussions, avocado cultivation training, dissemination of productive yard management, and education on financial recording and utilization of harvest yields. Evaluation results showed increased cultivation skills, awareness of yard management, and families’ ability to manage finances independently. This integrated approach has proven capable of encouraging the utilization of yards as a sustainable source of additional income.

Abstract

Family financial planning assistance for the Kampung Kerupuk UKM in the Kedung Rejo Village, Jabon, Sidoarjo East Java aims to enhance the financial literacy skills of families, because the fact show that the majority of UKM actors don’t understand how to manage finances well so this has an impact on the welfare of the community, especially the family it self. The Research, entitled “Family Financial Planning Coaching in Kampung Kerupuk Kedung Rejo Village, uses a PAR approach with the aim of making village communities independent so they can understand and know, how to manage family finance. The research results show that financial planning assistance has a positive impact on family financial management abilities among UKM actors. The increased in understanding of financial planning, debt management and income diversification is proof of the effectiveness of the mentoring program.

Abstract

The advancement of educational technology has transformed learning evaluation systems into more interactive, participatory, and data-driven approaches. One platform that supports real-time feedback is Kahoot!, which enables lecturers to obtain instant assessment results through game-based quizzes. This community service program aimed to enhance lecturers’ competencies in designing and implementing technology-based learning evaluation using Kahoot! with real-time feedback features. The program was conducted through a participatory hands-on workshop. The results indicate improved understanding of digital formative assessment, enhanced ability to design interactive Kahoot!-based quizzes, and strengthened skills in analyzing real-time evaluation data to improve teaching practices. The activity contributes to strengthening lecturers’ digital literacy and interactive learning implementation in the digital transformation era.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance academic writing competencies in research-based book writing and scientific publication through the use of Mendeley reference management software. The training was conducted by the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Almuslim, on February 5, 2026, involving 120 lecturers and students. The program covered research-based book development, IMRAD-structured article writing, publication strategies, and hands-on Mendeley training. The methods included lectures, discussions, practical sessions, and satisfaction questionnaire evaluation. The results indicated a very high satisfaction level, with an average score of 4.74 out of 5.00. The training effectively improved participants’ understanding of academic writing structures and reference management skills. Continuous writing clinics are recommended to sustain academic publication productivity.

Abstract

The Kranjang Hamlet community is one of the hamlets located in the Wayame Village Administrative Area, Teluk Ambon District–Ambon City, where the majority of the community lives as farmers, especially vegetable farmers. However, the yields of vegetable crops are hampered, not optimal due to pest and disease attacks as well as the acidity level of their land. Therefore, in order for the vegetable farmers' harvests in Kranjang Hamlet to always be optimal, the Kranjang Hamlet community needs to be provided with training and education on how to utilize their land optimally. The method used in Community Service activities is through Community Outreach. Socialization activities can be held well and smoothly according to the activity plan that has been made. This activity is well received by the community. The material can be delivered thoroughly and at the end of the activity, participants have new insights regarding crop diversification in the Hamlet to improve the welfare of farmers.

Abstract

The low level of literacy among Indonesian society remains a challenge in improving the quality of human resources. Literacy is not only related to the ability to read and write but also includes the ability to understand, process, and effectively use information in daily life. One important factor influencing children’s literacy development is the role of parents in supporting the learning process at home. Therefore, this Community Service Program (PKM) aims to increase parents’ understanding and awareness of the importance of education and literacy for children from an early elementary school age. The activity was conducted at SDN 2 Junjang Wetan, Cirebon Regency, targeting parents of elementary school students. The implementation method involved socialization activities through interactive lectures, discussions, and question-and-answer sessions. The results showed that most participants initially had limited understanding of literacy concepts. After the activity, parents demonstrated increased awareness and gained knowledge of simple strategies to foster reading habits within the family environment.

Abstract

This community service activity was conducted to address elementary school teachers’ limited understanding of the Deep Learning concept as an approach to meaningful learning within the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. This issue arises from insufficient pedagogical knowledge and the lack of practice-based training that supports a shift in the learning paradigm. As a solution, an online participatory workshop was provided for elementary school teachers in South Buru Regency to introduce the principles of Deep Learning and the integration of digital technology, particularly the Canva application. The implementation method included conceptual training, technical practice, as well as mentoring and evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests across five assessment aspects. The results indicated an average improvement of 31.4% across all measured aspects, including understanding of the Deep Learning concept (+30%), its application in the elementary school context (+29%), technical skills in using Canva (+38%), creativity in instructional media design (+28%), and the integration of technology in learning (+32%). These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of online training in enhancing teachers’ competencies and promoting the transformation of learning into a more meaningful, reflective, and contextual process.
