Abstract

Abstract

The rapid development of technology today has brought about many new challenges, one of which is the rise of cyberbullying and bullying behavior. Cases of cyberbullying or bullying can also occur within the school environment, fueled by the various forms of social media available. Students can easily access and use their social media accounts. Unfortunately, many of them have not yet learned how to use technology wisely. Being wise in using social media means understanding the language used in bullying behavior at school, as well as knowing how to prevent such behavior from occurring. An anti-bullying language awareness program was held at SMAN 16 Bekasi, involving 30 students. The program included both a pre-test and a post-test for participants. The main goal was to provide counseling and guidance to help students minimize or prevent incidents of cyberbullying or bullying within the school environment. To put this attitude into practice, a sustainable educational program is needed through continuous outreach activities. The planned follow-up mentoring sessions are expected to help students develop a better understanding of language use—particularly in preventing cyberbullying.

Abstract

The snack-based MSMEs in Winduraja Village possess significant economic and tourism potential but face challenges in product innovation and packaging. This community service activity aims to develop innovative products based on MSMEs as a local culinary identity and as part of a strategy to strengthen the village tourism sector. A participatory-collaborative approach was employed, involving MSME actors and village institutions through stages of observation, needs analysis, product design, and a Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Local products such as comring, glass chips, and tempeh chips were developed with new flavor variants, attractive packaging, and names reflecting Sundanese cultural identity. The results include the creation of a distinctive village culinary brand and enhanced synergy among stakeholders. Participatory evaluation indicated increased MSME involvement, a sense of ownership, and encouragement of sustainable production initiatives. This program demonstrates that product innovation, combined with the FGD approach, can strengthen MSME competitiveness and build the village’s image as a community-empowered tourism destination.

Abstract

Banyulana Islamic Boarding School has approximately 1 hectare of land with the potential to support food self-sufficiency through horticulture. This community service activity aimed to improve the ability to cultivate organic horticulture and to strengthen the pesantren’s internal food supply. The method used was a participatory-mentoring approach (introduction, preparation of planting media, planting, maintenance, and harvesting), carried out for about one month with the participation of n = 11 students and n = 20 santri. Evaluation was conducted through field observations, documentation, and participant feedback (interviews/discussions). The results included the implementation of caisim, kale, shallot, and melon cultivation; the application of cultivation processes according to organic guidelines; and qualitative reports of increased participant understanding. Limitations of the program were the short duration and the absence of quantitative pre–post measurement.

Abstract

Students at MTs Ushuluddin Singkawang face several challenges in learning the Indonesian language, particularly in writing literary works. Based on observations and interviews, it was found that most students have low self-confidence, limited literacy skills, and a lack of creativity in expressing ideas through writing. Their written works generally consist of summaries of lesson materials rather than creative literary pieces such as short stories. To address these issues, the implementation team carried out a Community Service Program (PkM) in the form of a short story writing workshop aimed at enhancing students’ creativity, literacy skills, and self-confidence in literary writing. The workshop was conducted through four main stages: (1) preparation, including material development, coordination with the school, and participant selection; (2) training implementation, involving the delivery of short story writing techniques and hands-on practice; (3) mentoring for story production, providing guidance in drafting and revising students’ works; and (4) evaluation through assessment of the final works and measurement of improvement using pretests and posttests. A total of 27 students from class VIIIC participated in this activity. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ short story writing skills, with 77.8% achieving a “very high” category and 22.2% achieving a “high” category. Participant satisfaction was also high, with 92.59% expressing they were “very satisfied” and 7.40% “satisfied” with the program. Although some students still struggled with spelling and mechanics, overall the workshop effectively enhanced students’ understanding, motivation, and self-confidence in creative writing. Therefore, the short story writing workshop proved to be an effective means of developing students’ creative potential while strengthening the culture of literacy in schools..

Abstract

The need for critical analytical tools in examining cultural, literary, and media phenomena has grown significantly in response to the rapid flow of information in the digital era. Roland Barthes’ semiotics, particularly the concepts of denotation, connotation, and myth, offers a highly relevant methodological framework for uncovering the layered meanings of texts and cultural representations. This community service activity aimed to enhance the analytical capacity of members of the Lembaga Kajian Dialektika through training on Barthes’ semiotic approach. The program was designed as an interactive workshop consisting of theoretical lectures, group discussions, case studies, and hands-on analysis of both literary and media texts. The activity was conducted online via Zoom on June 15, 2025. The results indicate a high level of enthusiasm and active engagement among participants during discussions and analytical practices. Participants successfully identified differences between denotative and connotative meanings and gained an understanding of how myths are constructed within media texts. Prior to the training, most participants relied on descriptive approaches, but afterward, they demonstrated a more critical orientation in interpreting cultural representations. The main challenges encountered were time limitations and participants’ varied methodological backgrounds. Overall, the training significantly broadened the methodological perspectives of the participants while strengthening the tradition of critical inquiry within the institution. Future recommendations include advanced training programs that incorporate contemporary semiotics, hermeneutics, and critical theory in order to further develop participants’ analytical capacities.
