Abstract

Hypertension is the most common cardiovascular disease in society. Management of hypertension can be pharmacological and non-pharmacological. One of the nonpharmacological therapies for hypertension is fasting therapy. Ramadan fasting is fasting that is obligatory for Muslims and has been set in the month of Ramadan for one month (29 or 30 days). Fasting changes a person's eating and drinking patterns which affect the body's metabolism which results in increased production of angiotensinogen which impacts blood pressure and increases in High-density Lipoprotein cholesterol. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Ramadan fasting on blood pressure and lipid profiles in hypertensive patients. This study used a pre-experimental research design with the One Group Pretest-Posttest model. The sampling method used non-probability sampling with purposive sampling technique. Measurements were taken before the fasting month of Ramadan and one month of fasting. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon test. The results of the study in the form of systolic and diastolic blood pressure before fasting with one month of Ramadan fasting, the mean ± SD respectively were 145 ± 17.45 p-value (0.001); 87.70 ± 9.82 p-value (0.001). For lipid profiles (cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL) before fasting with one month of Ramadan fasting, the mean ± SD respectively were 181.60 ± 26.63 p-value (0.001); 113.65 ± 43.91 p-value (0.001); 53 ± 7.71) p-value (0.001); 116.30 ± 18.38 p-value (0.001). This study concluded that there was a decrease in systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and an improvement in fasting lipid profile levels during Ramadan fasting in hypertensive patients.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis which spreads through the air and can be a major cause of poor health and is even one of the main causes of death throughout the world. The recommended treatment for TB is the use of antibiotics, but some patients experience side effects, both severe and mild. Patients diagnosed with pulmonary TB at X Hospital Malang who experienced pharmacological side effects based on medical record data will be used in this study. There will be 55 pulmonary TB patients in 2022 at X Hospital in Malang. Patients who were more likely to contract TB in this study were men (54.5%) with a maximum age range of 60 years (29.1%), and the most frequent impact was shortness of breath (43.6%). Meanwhile, the number of patients who did not experience side effects was 7.2%. Other effects that often occur are reduced appetite, nausea and coughing. Therefore, side effects that occur when using OAT, both frequent and rare effects, still need to be watched out for by health workers. This needs to be done so that the side effects that occur can be minimized and patient compliance also increases because of the minimal side effects experienced.

Abstract

Cancer is the main cause of death in developing countries. In Indonesia, breast cancer patients rank the most and are the first cause of death from cancer. Cancer treatment is carried out by surgery or by capturing cancer tissue which is then followed by chemotherapy but this can kill normal cells. Curcumin is the largest content in Temulawak (Curcuma zanthorrhiza). The results of docking using molegro virtual docker show that there is a protein bond with the Curcumin ligand, using a form of validation using various functional evaluations available in Sybil2, so it can be said that the docking value of Curcumin can show its anti-breast cancer effect activity.

Abstract

Pneumonia is an inflammation of the lung tissue which is usually caused by a bacterial, viral or fungal infection. The disease can affect individuals of any age group, however, children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems are susceptible to potentially life-threatening pneumonia. Treatment therapy that is often carried out in overcoming the problem of pneumonia infection is by administering antibiotics. Inappropriate administration of antibiotics can cause less effective treatment, increase the risk of nosocomial infections, increase resistance, and side effects of drugs that are harmful to health. Rational use of antibiotics is important to avoid these negative consequences. The aim of this study was to determine the quality of antibiotic use in neonatal patients with pneumonia infections using the Gyssens method approach at Hospital Evaluation of antibiotic use was analyzed using Microsoft Excel. Retrospective design with data collection. Data analysis uses the Gyssens method flow diagram. The results showed that antibiotic use included Amikacin (15%), Amoxicillin (15%), Ampicillin (2%), Ampicillin Sulbactam (19%), Cefotaxime (19%), Ceftazidime (3%), Ceftriaxone (1%), Gentamicin(14%), Imipenem Cilastatin(1%), Meropenem(11%), Metronidazole(8%), Netilmicin(1%), Vancomycin(5%). Based on the research results, the conclusion of this study shows that the irrational use of antibiotics is a serious problem that requires immediate attention and joint action to protect the effectiveness of antibiotics and overall public health.
