<![CDATA[This research aims to describe the hedonism portrayed in Shania Twain’s song. Moreover, it also aims at describing the negative effect of hedonism on young people’s futures. The objective of this study is to analyze the hedonic behavior expressed in the song lyrics and also to describe the negative impact of hedonism, especially for the younger generation, as reflected in the song. "Ka-Ching!" is chosen as the song as it has many hedonistic behaviors, and it is taken as the main research data sung by Shania Twain. Hermeneutic Interpretation theory and Sociology of Literature theory are used. Descriptive qualitative is chosen as a research method. Based on the research, the result shows the types of hedonism expressed in Ka-Ching song lyrics consist of: The results of this research are that (1) the hedonistic issues portrayed in the song lyrics cover aesthetic and egoistic hedonism. These two types dominate the two song lyrics belonging to Shania Twain. The other result is that the ways to anticipate hedonism in life include being wise, being grateful, being simpler in life, and being closer to God.]]>

<![CDATA[The improbability of continuing the traditional classroom during the pandemic Covid-19 caused an Unavoidable condition where blended learning was the most proper solution to conduct the learning process. This study intends to investigate how students view blended learning, particularly in English classrooms. The research's population is the eighth-grade students of MTS Fadhilah Pekanbaru with 93 students involved as the research samples. The instrument used to gain the data is a questionnaire consisting of 35 items divided into four aspects (behavioral, cognitive, emotional, and economic). The data were scored using a Likert scale with four options; Strongly Agree (SA), Agree (A), Disagree (D), and Strongly Disagree (SD). The findings showed that the students’ perception on blended learning was high level with an average score of 107.46. Owing to this, it can be determined that the students had positive perceptions when learning English through a blended learning method. They showed positive behaviors during blended learning where they always came to the lessons and submitted their assignments on time. Also, they believed blended learning allowed them to explore their potential and be more creative in the learning process.]]>

<![CDATA[A difficult speaking in English has become one of the student problems in English learing. The application of using Think Pair Share method is needed for students to improve students’ speaking ability in expressing opinion.. This is classroom action research which has purpose to describe whether think pair share method can improve students’ speaking ability in expressing opinion at eighth grade of SMPN1 Kotabumi. The research procedure consist of four steps, namely: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Each cycle consist of two meetings and one assessment to measure students’ speaking ability in expressing opinion, each meeting lasted for 70 minutes. The second cycle was a remedial of the first cycle by revising some components that used in the learning process. To collect the data, the researcher use d oral test and observation sheet. The data is analyzed by summing the score and counting the percentage. The percentage is used as learning indicator that has been approved by the researcher and collaborator. The standart score of speaking is 70. If the targeted percerntage is reached 90% or more it means that the implementation of Think Pair Share method in expressing opinion said succeed. From the data analysis, the percentage of students’ activity in the first cycle is 72%, and it increases into 100% in the second cycle. Meanwhile, the teacher’s activity also increases from 75% in cycle 1 into 97,5% in cycle 2. So, it can be concluded that Think Pair Share method can improve students’ speaking ability in expressing opinion at eighth grade of SMPN 1 Kotabumi.]]>

<![CDATA[The globalization and 21st century learning needs students to adopt a better approach to learning. As there are two types of approaches namely surface approach and deep approach, it is needed to investigate which are students leaning towards to, including the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence them especially in the sudden transition of online learning in pandemic situation. Using the modified R-SPQ-2F and a semi-guided interview, the study was conducted in one high school in North Bali. Using Slovin formula, there are 200 respondents who participated in the study. The modified R-SPQ-2F were analyzed using the mean score analysis and the results are students leaning towards the surface approach in the context of EFL Online learning. The interview analyzed with interactive model analysis gives comprehensive view of the supporting and inhibiting factors of the deeper approach. Turns out personal motivation, teachers’ style of teaching, and environmental factors directs their approach. These findings showed that the student learning approach is one way to evaluate the learning process. Teachers, students, and government should consider this to re-adjust the current learning situation to improve the quality of education.]]>

<![CDATA[Speaking is the highest target in English language because speaking as the basis of communication which becomes a function in learning. There are many kinds of technique to improve speaking skill, such as information gap technique. The researcher wants to find out whether using information gap activities can improve the students’ speaking skills and analysing the classroom situation when this technique is implemented in speaking class. This research used collaborative classroom action research and composed for three cycles following the procedures of action research, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The researcher uses instrument of observations, lists, tests, and questionnaire to collect the data. The data obtained was presented in two ways, they are qualitative and quantitative. The findings showed that IGT activities were effective to improve the speaking skill of the learners in class activities. It can be seen from each cycle by the rise in the students’ mean scores in the test result, 59.8 in the first cycle, 69 in the second cycle, and 81, 8 in the third cycle. In other hand, the improvements also based on the results of the observation that showed positivity and good responses from the learners. From the questionnaire results. it was gotten that the means score for the students’ perception was 3,72. It means that the students give positive response for the implementation of this technique.]]>

<![CDATA[This article discusses students’ difficulties in learning English and the solutions by studying of students of Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University, Yogyakarta. English is being treated as a world language because of its vast presence all over the world. Nevertheless, achievement of quality of learning English in Indonesia is still stagnant. One of the indicators is the students lack of mastering English. A lot of students still consider English as one of the most difficult subjects. This situation, of course, will influence the students learning process. Indonesian students consequently are asked to learn English through the mastery of the four skills, but it is not easy to master them well because the students encounter many difficulties in learning English. Such difficulties are also faced by most of students of UIN Sunan Kalijaga. This is a field research based on qualitative data. The object of research is students of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. In gathering the data, I distribute a simple questionnaire to UIN Sunan Kalijaga students. The results of this study found that according to most of UIN Sunan Kalijaga students, among four English skills, listening is the most difficult skill in learning English. Speaking places as second position. Next, writing places as third position. The last is most difficult skill placed by reading. There are many efforts done by UIN Sunan Kalijaga students to solve their difficulties in English. They are: (a) the students deepen English by joining English course institutions; (b) the students get accustomed to use English either speaking, writing, listening, or reading; (c) the students study English more seriously; (d) the students memorize English vocabulary as much as possible; (e) the students frequently consult with their teachers regarding English; (f) the students practice English frequently, (g) the students frequently attend English lecture; (h) the students get accustomed to watch English movies and listen English songs. (i) the students frequently ask to their friends and relatives or anyone understanding English. The solutions that can be offered to overcome difficulties in learning English. They are: (a) speak without fear; (b) use all of our resources; (c) surround ourself with English; (d) listen to native speakers as much as possible; (e) watch English films and television; (f) listen to English musics; (g) study as often as possible; (i) do exercises and take tests; (j) record ourself; and (k) listen to English. Besides, there are some solutions regarding English learning process. They are: avoid formality and prioritize quality; design English learning program clearly; teach English skills, not components of English; create a conducive English learning envorinment; motivate the students to study hard; and communicate with the students.]]>

<![CDATA[This research and development aims to represent the process and results of wordwall media development for teaching reading skills on recount text material. The research subject was class X IPA 5 MA Ma'arif Udanawu. The development procedure refers to the model ADDIE. Analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation are the five steps of the ADDIE paradigm. Observation and interview techniques were used as information gathering in the preliminary study. Meanwhile, to determine the feasibility of wordwall products, researchers used a questionnaire instrument that was given to content and media experts. Then a student response questionnaire was conducted to determine the level of student satisfaction with the media. A score of 96% was obtained in the very good category, per the evaluation of the material specialists. A rating of from media professionals is 92% was obtained which was classified in the Very Good category. In addition, the results of the student response questionnaire also scored 84% in the good category. Based on the overall assessment, the development of wordwall learning media in recount text material providing information for class X IPA 5 students can be declared feasible and suitable for use in teaching and learning activities.]]>

<![CDATA[In order to learn and teach effectively, students need to have a comprehensive knowledge of the English language and understand its meaning. Students must be able to understand the language both orally and in writing if they have mastery of vocabulary. The purpose of this study is to apply TPSS in learning reading comprehension at Tahfidz Asy - Syadzili Middle School. It is hoped that learning by using the TPSS method, students will become more motivated to learn and understand English reading well. Teachers obtain learning methods that can be used for learning reading comprehension so that learning is not too monotonous and not just the teacher's knowledge. The method used in this research is a quantitative method with a quiz-experimental approach that uses the population in this study is 7 grades of SMP Tahfidz Asy – Syadzili totaling 40 students. Research results In the application of the TPSS method by the teacher, this strategy has been going well and the teacher has carried out all the stages. The TPSS method can assist teachers in conveying quite a lot of understanding of the material well. This can be seen from the teacher's observation sheet which states that 100% of the stages were carried out in the first and second meetings, while the three stages were carried out by 98%, 12% were not implemented. This strategy was used by the teacher to guide students to become independent learners in accordance with the learning objectives. So that the quality of teacher guidance to students can also increase.]]>

<![CDATA[This research is to determine the processes and the results of developing Gartic.io on past tenses to teach students vocabulary in the 8th B Class of SMPN 5 BLITAR. Learning language is one of the many things that students learn in school. English is one of the languages students learn at school, in the learning processes one of the most effective ways to support student learning is through the use of media. Research and Development (R&D) employing the ADDIE model used by researcher in this study. Observation, interview, and questionnaire used to collect data from students. 82.5% on instrument validation which is considered “valid”, 87.5% on material expert validation which is considered “very valid”, and 77.5% on media expert validation which is considered “valid”. Second questionnaire for getting the students’ responses about the media obtain 74% which is considered “valid”.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this research is to develop a modified cube box product with descriptive text chapter material. With this media, the researcher hopes to help English teachers at MTs Subulas Salam in the learning process so that they are more active and easier to achieve learning objectives. Based on observations made by researchers, a problem was found, namely student learning in the dominant class using worksheets so that other media were needed so that learning became more active. The research method used in this article is research and development (R&D), which is a research approach to produce new products or improve existing products. The Rnd method used is the Addie method which consists of 5 steps namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. In producing certain products, this research is a needs analysis using survey or qualitative methods. Each product produced also needs to be tested for product feasibility with experimental methods. In accordance with the results that have been carried out, the validation results obtained by the team of experts is 85%. Student response is 89.4%, and teacher response is 90%. With these results it can be concluded that the development of a modified cube box for class VII at MTs Subulus Salam is declared valid and feasible to use.]]>
