Abstract

Plankton is the important organisms in aquatic ecosystems. Kreo river subjacent landfill leachate tank Jatibarang interchangeable physicochemical changes by leachate contaminants which enter the river due to leakage of leachate tank. The will impact on the diversity and abundance of plankton. The aims of this study is apperceiving Jatibarang leachate influence the diversity and abundance of plankton in Kreo River. The study was conducted from April to May 2015. Plankton samples taken by purposive sampling using a plankton net which 25 number with a mesh size of 40 µm. Sampling was conducted plankton with four stations of three sampling each points of stations and physicochemical measurements that include temperature, brightness, pH, COD, and BOD. That are contaminated leachate of II stations with an index of H’ value 1.40 and abudance 75 ind/l and the stations III with index H’ value 1,53 and abudance 95 ind/l. The location padding contaiminatef leachate that the stations I had an index value H’ 195 and abudance values 191 ind/l and stations which has undergone restoration gas an index value H’ 2,07 and abudance 207 ind/l. From the results shows that Jatibarang landfill leachate that entered the Kreo River affect the physicochemichal conditions of water allows for lowering the diversity and abudance of plankton Keywords: leachate, landfill Jatibarang, plankton, Kreo river

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate effect of metacognition strategies toward mastery of concepts and scientific attitude of high school students in learning human reproductive system. Research was conducted in May 2015, with Causal-comparative method and Ex-post facto approach. Population was 11th grade students of SMAN 1 North Tambun, SMAN 2 North Tambun, Secondary Vocational School of Health Zam-zam Kurnia, and Secondary Vocational School of Nursing Satria Nusantara, Subdistrict North Tambun, Bekasi, academic year 2014/2015. The sample consisted of 100 students of 11th grade high school who had been studying human reproductive system in biology major, with cluster random sampling. The data were collected by test method for mastery of concepts, Scientific Attitude Scale, and Metacognition Strategy Questionnaire. Questionnaire of Metacognition Strategy used to classify students into some group (students with Self-awareness Strategies (A), Modifying Strategies (B), and Imitation Strategies (C)). Data were analysed by MANOVA using Software SPSS 20. The analysis showed that: 1) the mean mastery of concepts and scientific attitude of students were different for metacognition strategies types, 2) difference score was significant for mastery of concepts but not found in the scientific attitude of students, 3) metacognition strategies affect the acquisition score of mastery of concepts but does not for scientific attitude of students, 4) Metacognition strategies A and metacognition strategies C was affect of the score of  the mastery of concepts.Keywords:Metacognition Strategies, Mastery of Concepts, Scientific Attitude, Human Reproductive System

Abstract

This research aims to study the learning outcome animal ecology using cooperative learning team listening to the students of Biology Education. This research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings. The subjects were students of semester V as many as 26 people. The research instrument used to collect data in this study is the observation sheet activities of student learning, observation sheet activities of lecturers and exam animal ecology. The results showed the average value of the final exam the first cycle is 68.3 with the percentage of completeness of 63.7 % and the average value of the final exam cycle II was 80.5 with a percentage of 87.5 % mastery learning.  The activity average of students in the first cycle 66.9 % in the second cycle an average of 83. 2 % of the student activity. This means that the average student activity in animal ecology learning through cooperative learning model Listening Team is progressing well and can increase the activity and learning outcomes of animal ecology. The implication of this research is the type cooperative learning listening team can be used in Biology Education student learning, especially in animal ecology

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the diversity of diurnal butterflies (Sub Order : Rhopalocera) in complex Mount Bromo KPH Karanganyar Surakarta in 2013. Research is explorative quantitative research done by analyzing the value of the Shannon diversity index and evenness of species in the population. Sampling was done by catching butterflies directly on the 4 pieces that have been deemed most representative of the entire complex regional characteristics and vegetation of Mount Bromo. Sampling results obtained in stage 4 for 211 individuals consisting of 4 familia, 21 genera and 26 species . Analysis showed diversity with Shannon index H 'value of 2.249 at stage 1 ; 2,558 at stage 2 ; 2,664 to 2,218 at stage 3 and stage 4 . While the value of H ' for all the research stage is 2,956 butterfly diversity means there is the category of being . The distribution of species in the study sites can be said to be evenly distributed with the value of E = 0.907 . Keywords : butterfly, mount bromo, diversity

Abstract

One of the promising biofuel is bioethanol which can be produced from agricultural waste cellulosic biomass such as citrus fruit waste. Bioethanol can be derived from citrus fruit waste that is rarely used. Cellulosecontained in citrus fruit  waste can be converted into ethanol through a process of chemical and biological. Sulfuric acid ( H2SO4) can be used in hydrolysis of cellulose material in citrus fruit waste to producesugars and batch fermentation by Saccharomyces cereviseae can be used to convert sugars into bioethanol.The purpose of this research were to determine the highest reducing sugar from acid hydrolisis with different acid concentration levels of 0, 3, 7, and 10% and to know the highest levels of bioethanol and optimum incubation time. Extracts made from citrus fruit waste without peel. Citrus fruits were hydrolyse using a variation of 1 M H2SO4 acid concentration of 0, 3, 7, and 10 % to produce reducing sugars. Reducing sugars were analyzed using the Nelson Somogyi method.The optimum reducing sugar is used for fermentation by yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae using a variation of the long incubation days 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 and bioethanol purified by distillation method. Acid hydrolysis resulted reduction sugar 3,5%, at an optimum concentration of 3% is used for fermentation by yeast S. cerevisiae. The highest level of fermentation time of 6 days produced bioethanol having the content 9,75% .  Kata Kunci : Bioethanol, Citrus Acid Waste, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae, Fermentation .

Abstract

As one of science lessons, biology is expected to be a lesson that can develop students' critical thinking skills. This critical thinking ability is very important in connecting the facts that exist in the natural world, linking principles and theories, raising questions, analyzing other people's opinions, analyzing problems, and solving biological problems. In addition, cognitive style is one important aspect that needs to be considered. Based on this study aims to analyze students' critical thinking skills reflective or impulsive cognitive style through cooperative model TTW (Think Talk Write) with image media. The subjects were 19 students of SMP class VIII C SMP Negeri 1 Merakurak with reflective and impulsive cognitive style. Student cognitive style is measured by MFFT (Matching Familiar Figures Test) developed by Warli (2010). While data for critical thinking is obtained through critical thinking tests by referring to the Ennis (1985) indicator. Furthermore the data of students' critical thinking ability reflective and impulsive cognitive style was analyzed statistically nonparametric by using Mean Whitney test. The results of the study are as follows: students' critical thinking skills with reflective cognitive style tend to be high. While the critical thinking skills of impulsive students tend to be low. The conclusion is that reflective cognitive-style students are better than impulsive cognitive-style students.

Abstract

Some endophytic fungi live in medicinal plant tissue, include medicinal plant. This research was done to: 1) determine the endophytic fungi position in the Cananga odorata  plant tissue by histological observation; 2) identify the endophytic fungi species isolated from the leaf, twig, and petal flower of C. odorata. The position determination of endophytic fungi in the C. odorata plant tissue is done by microscopic observation. The endophytic fungi were isolated from the leaf, twig, and flower petal of C. odorata  plant by cutted these plant parts, then inoculated on Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) medium and incubated in 27oC during 7 x 24 hours, each fungi that grow on the PDA medium were isolated, then the morphology and microscopic characteristic of each fungi colony isolates were described. Each endophytic fungi isolates were identified. The research result were:  1) the endophytic fungi position are on the epidermis cell wall and on the stomata guard cell wallof the leaf tissue, on the parenchymal cell wall of the twig tissue, and on the epidermis cell wall of the flower tissue; 2) Nine endophytic fungi species were isolated from the C. odorata leaf, twig, and flower petal are: Nigrospora sphaerica, Colletotrichum alienum,Mycellia sterilia1, C. kahawae, Rhizoctonia sp., C. aotearoa, Micellia sterilia2, C. alatae, dan C. queenslandicum

Abstract

Abstract - The research of Polypodiaceae taxonomy viewed by stomata types was conducted in Kaliurang Yogyakarta. The purpose of the research is to know is stomata type can be used as based of Polypodiaceae classification.The first step of the research was collected species of Polypodiaceae in Kaliurang. The second step was identified their stomata types and then compared the grouping of species based on their stomata type to grouping of species based on their classification. Abstract

ABSTRAK   Dalam pelaksanaan proses pembelajaran guru dapat memilih dan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran, salah satunya yaitu dengan strategi Make a Match. Strategi Make a Match adalah strategi yang cukup menyenangkan, aktif, kreatif sehingga dapat membuat pelajaran tetap melekat dalam pikiran siswa dan menjadikan belajar tidak terlupakan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar biologi dan keaktifan siswa kelas IX F SMP Negeri 2 Kartasura tahun ajaran 2011/2012. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, refleksi dan evaluasi dengan menggunakan strategi Make a Macth yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu observasi, catatan lapangan, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan tes. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini dengan deskriptif kualitatif yang dilengkapi dengan analisis rata-rata hasil belajar dikelas IX F SMP Negeri 2  Kartasura tahun ajaran 2011/2012. Sebelum pelaksanaan tindakan diperoleh rata-rata hasil belajar kognitif produk siswa 67,46 dan rata-rata pada siklus I meningkat menjadi 73,94 dan rata-rata pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 78,89 sedangkan untuk keaktifan siswa pada siklus I dengan rata-rata 11,51 dengan kriteria cukup berminat dan meningkat pada siklus II menjadi 16,89 dengan kriteria berminat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa strategi Make a Match dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar dan keaktifan pada materi sistem koordinasi dan indera manusia pada siswa kelas IX F SMP Negeri 2 Kartasura Tahun Ajaran 2011/2012.   Kata Kunci : Keaktifan, Hasil Belajar, dan Strategi Make a Match

Abstract

The development of science and technology encourages the development in the aspect of education including learning resources. Learning resources should be developed in accordance with the needs of students and curriculum that apply the curriculum 2013. LKS as a source of learning should contain a summary of material and some student activities in learning, but in reality LKS used today is not qualified (valid, practical, and effective) . The number of plants that grow in the school environment encourages the development of LKS, by identifying plants in particular leaves can be used as a material for the development of LKS, especially sub chapter based Plantae leaf morphology identification into LKS more qualified. This research is aimed to develop LKS Plantae based on leaf morphology to be valid, practical, and effective. This research is a research development with R & D method (Research and Development), and use model development of ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). LKS results of development will be measured validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Kevalidan is measured using instruments by experts, practicality is measured based on student activities during LKS use, effectiveness measured by improvements in learning outcomes and student responses. Validation results have been declared valid by experts with 79.17% percentage, the observation result of practicality get percentage of average 70% with practical criteria, student response result gets percentage average 98,5% with criterion very effective, result learn learn got 98% percentage and N-gain analysis result is 0.69 with medium criterion. So LKS is declared worthy as a teaching material for students.
