Abstract

Based on the PISA 2022 results, the scientific literacy abilities of Indonesian students are still below the international average. This research aims to see the level of scientific literacy abilities of junior high school students in Medan City in 2023. This research was carried out at several representative schools designated by researchers as schools representing sub-districts in Medan City. Sample selection was carried out using stratified random sampling. From the 21 sub-districts in the city of Medan, one superior junior high school in each sub-district was selected. From the 21 selected schools, 1 superior 8th grader from that school was taken from each school. The instruments used are scientific literacy questions which have previously been developed by researchers following the indicators set out in the PISA 2018 framework which consists of 15 indicators for 3 scientific literacy competencies in the PISA 2018 framework. It can be concluded that the average scientific literacy ability of students in Medan City was still in the sufficient category. Student achievement was still low in several PISA 2018 framework scientific literacy competency indicators

Abstract

This study aims to see the feasibility based on the assessment of material experts, language and learning experts, design experts, the responses of educators and students as well as the effectiveness of the Student Worksheets Based on PjBL Using Liveworksheet on Temperature and Heat Material to Increase Student Learning Outcomes at VII Junior High School students. The sample of this study was students of class VII-5, totaling 32 people. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model. The instrument used in this study consisted of a material expert validation questionnaire, language and learning experts, design experts, a questionnaire for educators and students' responses. The test is in the form of an essay to measure the level of students' learning outcome on Temperature and Heat material. Based on the results of the study obtained data from material expert validation of 84%, validation of language and learning experts 97,33% and validation of design experts 82,66% with each in the strongly feasible category. The response of students with 32 people was 85,33% and teacher response was 92% in the strongly feasible category. So based on the results of the students’ worksheet validation, this is suitable for use in the learning process. Students’ worksheet which is designed effectively to increase students' learning outcomes, the results of students' learning outcomes are obtained with an average N-Gain value of 0.72 with high criteria.

Abstract

This research explores the effects of applying the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model, supported by PhET Colorado media, on students' learning achievement and science process skills in the topic of force among seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 37 Medan during the 2024/2025 academic year. The study employs a quasi-experimental approach using a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design, with two classes selected as the research sample, VII-E (Experimental Class) using PBL with PhET Colorado and VII-F (Control Class) without PBL and PhET Colorado. The sampling technique applied was Purposive Sampling. Data collection was conducted through tests and observations, followed by analysis using the Independent Sample t-test. In the experimental class, the average pretest score was 40, while the posttest score showed a significant improvement, reaching 84, while in the control class, they were 39 and 67. The hypothesis test confirmed a significant effect of PBL with PhET Colorado on students' learning outcomes. Additionally, the final assessment of science process skills revealed that the experimental class achieved a proficiency rate of 79.41%, whereas the control class attained a lower percentage of 39.16%, demonstrating a significant impact of the implemented learning model. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the influence of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Google Site Web on students' critical thinking skills on temperature, heat and expansion materials. The type of research used is Quasi Experiment with a Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The sample was taken using the Purposive Sampling technique, so that 65 students of SMP N 2 Payakumbuh were selected for grades VII 9 and VII 10. Data collection is carried out by giving pretest and posttest questions. Based on the data obtained, the tests used are the t-test for pretest and posttest. The t-test in the pretest obtained a tcount value = 3.68 > a ttable of 2.00 which means that there is a significant difference so that Ha is accepted. Meanwhile, in the t-posttest test, the tcount value = 2.29 > ttable 2.00 which means that there is a significant difference in the average of the experimental and control classes. So, based on the results obtained from the mean difference test, it was found that there was a significant difference between the average of the experimental and control classes before and after being given treatment. When we get different research results, to see the effect can be seen from the improvement of the learning outcomes of the two sample classes. Therefore, the N-gain test is used. The results of the hypothesis calculation used are the U test or the Man Whitney test because the data obtained on the N-gain is abnormal but homogeneous. The result of the u test was obtained Zhitung = -1.54 < Ztabel = - 0.73. Referring to the criteria of the u test which states that if the Zhitung < Ztabel then H0 is rejected. So in conclusion, there is an effect of significantly improving student learning outcomes between control and experimental classes. Keywords: PBL, Google, Site, Critical, Thinking.

Abstract

This scientific writing assignment investigates the impact of the PjBL-STEM model on students' creative thinking abilities in the context of the education system in Indonesia. This research focuses on 21st Century learning skills, namely creative, critical and process. One of the learning models recommended by the government is Project Based Learning (PjBL). In order to combine contextual with project assignments and to achieve 21st century skills, it is necessary to implement the PjBL model with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) approach. The methodology of this study involves a systematic literature review of 8 articles published in the last ten years. The findings of the study show that the PjBL-STEM model not only improves students' creative thinking abilities but also deepens their understanding of concepts, increases their active involvement in learning, and improves their ability to apply knowledge in various situations. The study concluded that the PjBL-STEM model is more effective than conventional teaching methods in improving students' creative thinking abilities. Abstract

Learning about the solar system at the junior high school level poses challenges due to its abstract nature, making conventional methods less effective. This study aims to analyze the effect of learning media on junior high school students' learning outcomes on solar system material using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. Research data were collected through Google Scholar using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews-Meta Analysis) technique through four stages: identification, selection, eligibility, and inclusion. From 240 articles, seven national journal articles were selected as research data because they met the criteria determined by the researcher in the last five years. The literature review shows that interactive learning media such as Flashcards, Augmented Reality (AR), Interactive Multimedia, Articulate Storyline, Virtual Reality (VR), Science Monopoly, and Unity 3D can make abstract solar system material more concrete, thereby increasing students' enthusiasm, spirit, motivation to learn, and learning outcomes, as well as helping the right brain to remember concepts. The immersive, contextual, and enjoyable learning experience provided by learning media encourages deeper student engagement. The integration of appropriate learning media is essential to improve student learning outcomes, and the evaluation and updating of learning media must be carried out continuously to adapt to the characteristics of 21st-century students.

Abstract

This study aims to map the understanding, attitudes, and skills related to Entrepreneurial Thinking (ET) in the context of science projects among pre-service science teachers. ET is an essential component that can be integrated into science education, as it has the potential to enhance creativity, innovation, and the social impact of project-based learning outcomes. This research employed a descriptive quantitative method with a sample of 73 pre-service science teachers from various regions of Indonesia. Data were collected through an online questionnaire that measured three main aspects: conceptual understanding, attitudes, and ET-related skills within science projects. The results indicated that, in general, pre-service science teachers possess a good understanding of the concept of ET and its application in science projects. Attitudes toward ET were also highly positive, as shown by the strong enthusiasm for integrating ET into science projects. Furthermore, the participants demonstrated competency in ET-related skills, although certain aspects, such as designing innovative solutions and brainstorming, still require further development. These findings suggest that the integration of ET into science education holds significant potential in shaping innovative and solution-oriented mindsets among pre-service science teachers.
