PaKMas (Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat) merupakan jurnal yang didedikasikan untuk mempublikasi hasil-hasil kegiatan Pengabdian yang dilakukan oleh Mahasiswa, Dosen dan seluruh lapisan masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk menyebarluaskan hasil pemikiran dan gagasan konseptual, serta tentang kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat dengan berbagai potensi, hambatan, tantangan, dan permasalahan yang ada di lingkungan masyarakat. PaKMas (Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat) juga meliputi kegiatan pengabdian, seperti: bidang ilmu pengetahuan, sosial, ekonomi, kesehatan, budaya, terapan, pengembangan TIK, dan pelayanan administrasi. Serta pelatihan dan peningkatan hasil pendidikan, pertanian, informasi dan komunikasi, pengajaran, pemberdayaan komunitas (komunitas pelajar dan pemuda) dan organisasi masyarakat secara berkelanjutan. Jurnal PaKMas terbit 2 kali setahun pada bulan Mei dan November.

Abstract

State Elementary School 8 Limboto Barat, located in Yosonegoro Village, Limboto Barat Subdistrict, has significant potential for fostering entrepreneurship among its students. The total number of students, 196, necessitates early entrepreneurship education to create job opportunities and independence in the future. One of the essential aspects of this education is entrepreneurship techniques, starting with the brainstorming method. To provide this training, the school invited lecturers from Gorontalo State University. In the initial stage of this training, 70 students were selected by State Elementary School 8 Limboto Barat to participate. The brainstorming method was chosen to help students effectively generate business ideas, understand, and skillfully use brainstorming to develop business concepts. The aim is to shift their mindset from relying on formal employment to becoming independent job creators. The results of the brainstorming training showed that 70 students, divided into 14 groups, achieved scores ranging from a high of 96 to a low of 89. According to the assessment standards, all groups, or 100%, met the criteria for excellence in understanding entrepreneurship concepts and generating innovative business ideas. The conclusion is that this training is effective, as 70 students successfully mastered entrepreneurial brainstorming, which includes understanding entrepreneurship, generating business ideas, selecting several business ideas, choosing one business idea, and skillfully using brainstorming techniques.

Abstract

This service activity aims to improve knowledge and access to family planning services in Lamabelawa Village, Witihama District, East Adonara. The main target of this activity is the Fertile Age Couple (PUS). The socialization activities covered the importance of family planning and reproductive health. The material presented included the definition of family planning, types of contraceptives, the benefits of family planning, and the importance of maintaining reproductive health. The approach used in this activity is the lecture method and interactive discussion. With this method, participants not only receive information, but also have the opportunity to actively participate, ask questions, and share their experiences related to family planning. The material in this activity was delivered by the Witihama Sub-district Family Planning Extension Agency who has competence in this field. Through this activity, it is expected that PUS in Lamabelawa Village can understand and apply the knowledge gained about family planning in their daily lives. In addition, this activity also aims to increase community awareness of the importance of reproductive health, so as to reduce the unplanned birth rate and improve family welfare. The results of this activity showed high enthusiasm from the participants as well as an increase in their understanding of the importance of family planning programs and reproductive health.

Abstract

The Global Food Security Index publication notes that Indonesia's food security condition is below the global average. One of the main factors contributing to this issue is climate change and extreme weather. To address this problem, communities can create self-sufficient food sources through home hydroponic farming. Syifa Hidroponik Satu, an MSME in North Sumatra, has been a pioneer in hydroponic plant education and cultivation. However, Syifa Hidroponik Satu faces several production issues, including uncontrolled pests, unpredictable sunlight intensity, high electricity consumption, and inefficient farm monitoring. To overcome these problems, the "Future Farmers" team from Universitas Pelita Harapan implemented smart indoor farming technology and clean energy technology. This technology allows the regulation of temperature, nutrients, pH, and light through an IoT system, and the use of solar panels for energy efficiency. This implementation has successfully improved the quality and productivity of hydroponic farming at Syifa Hidroponik Satu. With these follow-up actions, it is hoped that the quality and productivity of hydroponic farming will continue to increase, making a significant contribution to local food security and supporting greener and more sustainable agriculture.

Abstract

The Optimizing technology in the digital era is the key to success in opening up opportunities to develop students' independence in the field of entrepreneurship. Students must be more creative in utilizing information technology. It is hoped that students and Islamic boarding schools will be able to build independence in the field of entrepreneurship through unlimited activities and creativity in accordance with the times. For this reason, Islamic boarding schools must create strategies to equip students with various skills so that they are able to produce students who are pious, have good morals, and are successful in entrepreneurship. Therefore, as a form of social concern, lecturers are required to be present in providing solutions in society. Starting with a study of the problem, data collection, planning activities and implementing mentoring activities for students to improve their digital marketing-based entrepreneurial skills. The mentoring agenda for students was carried out for as many as 50 (fifty) students, starting with interviews to explore participants' needs and ending with the implementation of digital marketing-based entrepreneurship training. This training activity invites entrepreneurship and digital business practitioners to develop students to have entrepreneurial skills by using digital as part of a marketing development strategy for the products produced, so that the marketing reach is wider and greater. This of course has implications for improving the economy of students' families.

Abstract

The use of e-cigarettes can endanger health, especially the heart, lungs and other diseases. Therefore, youth understanding of the dangers of e-cigarettes is necessary. The aim of this activity is to raise the understanding of young people about e-cigarettes; to help young people better understand the health hazards of e-sigarettes; and to improve the perception of adolescents who believe that e-cigarettes are a safe way to smoke and are one of the right ways to quit smoking. The method of implementation of this dedication uses a discussion that consists of interactive discussion activities and delivery of material. The results of the pre-test study showed that the majority (40.6%) of teenagers are aware of cigarettes and their common dangers, including that they are aware about e-cigarettes and the dangers. The results of the post-test analysis showed a fairly significant improvement in their understanding after the deliberations carried out through the methods of discussion and video playback. In this case, their knowledge about cigarettes and the dangers of cigarettes, and their knowledge of e-cigarettes and their dangers increased to 82.5% This shows that the approach used during this devotional activity is quite effective. Based on this, it was concluded that all participants stated that they were willing and ready to act as mentors of change to quit e-cigarettes.

Abstract

Physics is one of the subjects that is the basic foundation for the development of science and technological progress. In physics learning, emphasis is placed on the process of forming knowledge through discovery and the presentation of regular data supported by practical activities. However, in reality there are still many schools that do not carry practical physics activities. Therefore, this dedication regarding measuring equipment education using practical methods for students at SMA Negeri 27 Central Maluku aims to help students in learning so they can improve learning outcomes and provide information about appropriate learning methods. This service activity was carried out on 21 class X students who had previously studied the same material conventionally from their teachers. The Community Service (PKM) activities employ the service-learning method, which consists of four stages: investigation, preparation, action, and reflection. The results of educational service activities can be shown by data on initial scores (pre-test) and final scores (post-test) obtained by students, namely an average initial score of 20.48 and an average final score of 65.24. These results show a significant increase in learning outcomes. In this way, educational service activities for measuring equipment using the practicum method have been carried out well. This is also demonstrated by the students' enthusiasm in participating in practicum activities.

Abstract

The omnibus law on taxation in Indonesia is part of the government's efforts to reform the tax system to increase investment competitiveness and support economic growth. These reforms include a range of changes in tax regulations intended to simplify tax administration, expand the tax base, and improve tax compliance. Changes to the law occurred through Law Number 11 of 2020 and changed the content of the KUP Law, Income Tax Law and VAT Law. This change in law was then socialized to the students of Santa Maria Catholic Vocational School Pontianak City in the form of providing knowledge and answering situation analysis about challenges and implementation. It can be concluded that through this Job Creation Law, several important rules contained in the Income Tax Law, the VAT Law and the KUP Law have been changed. Changes in the law substantially renew, clarify, facilitate and provide competitive rates for the ease of doing business cluster in the field of taxation It is hoped that this presentation can support the knowledge of Santa Maria Catholic Vocational School students about the importance of the tax system which later after the students graduate and have an income, they will also become taxpayers and comply with existing taxation according to the law.

Abstract

The issue of plastic pollution in the Paseban Beach area has become a serious concern as plastic waste accumulation threatens marine ecosystems and environmental health. This initiative aims to design a plastic waste management system in Paseban Village, integrated as an educational tool for Dewi Masyitoh Kindergarten students. The activities involved field observations, interviews, and experiments in waste management-based learning. The results show that the plastic waste management program, involving recycling activities such as creating collages and ecobricks, successfully enhances students' knowledge and skills in waste management. The findings conclude that integrating waste management into educational activities not only strengthens environmental education for students but also provides sustainable solutions for the community in addressing plastic waste issues. These results highlight the importance of implementing similar programs in other areas to raise environmental awareness from an early age.

Abstract

Elections are one of the pillars of democracy that must maintain integrity and credibility. However, there are still various issues and potential for fraud that can endanger the electoral process. Participatory oversight is needed from various parties because this is the responsibility of The Election Supervisory Agency, The Election Supervisory Committee, and the general public, especially students. As agents of change, students are considered to have great potential in overseeing future electoral processes. This Community Service activity aims to increase students' awareness of conducting participatory oversight in the 2024 General Elections. The partners in this activity are student representatives from various fields of study at Andalas University. The method used in this activity is andragogy, where the facilitator is tasked with facilitating the learning process for students to create an enjoyable learning atmosphere. The activity starts with a pre-test to measure participants' initial abilities before the intervention (socialization), followed by discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and case-solving. The final stage is to administer a post-test to measure participants' abilities after the socialization. The results of the community service activity show an increase in participants' understanding of participatory oversight, marked by an increase in test scores. The average score during the pre-test was 7.82 points, which increased to 9.95 points in the post-test

Abstract

Waste has become a serious problem in the school environment as students are still observed disposing of trash indiscriminately. Schools, as formal institutions, can serve as a platform to instil environmental awareness in students from an early age. It is crucial to cultivate students' concern for proper waste disposal and sorting according to its type. Stemming from this issue, this community service activity aims to provide a solution through educational initiatives on organic and inorganic waste segregation. The tangible form of this community service activity involves practical education on organic and inorganic waste sorting at SD Labschool UNEJ. The method employed includes several stages: obtaining permission by processing a speaker request letter to the higher education institution, preparation by determining the schedule for the service activity, implementation in the form of educational socialization on organic and inorganic waste sorting, and evaluation by administering quizzes or questions related to waste segregation. As a result of this service activity, students have an increased level of understanding about organic and inorganic waste sorting and knowledge of waste management to enhance its functional value. In conclusion, this community service has led to an improvement in the environmental awareness character of students at SD Labschool UNEJ in sorting organic and inorganic waste.
