Abstract

Eschericia coli bacteria are fecal coliform bacteria that belong to the Enterobacteriaceae group. This bacterium is an indicator of water quality to test for fecal contamination in a water sample. Cendol is a drink that has many fans because of its sweet and savory taste. The high consumption of cendol in the community is the basis for this drink to maintain its quality. One of the qualities that must be considered is the microbiological quality. The research was carried out in a quantitative descriptive manner and the research data will be displayed in the form of data tabulations. There were 3 samples of cendol tested namely TS1, TS2 and TS3. There were 3 stages in conducting the research, namely sample preparation, counting of total bacteria and testing of Eschericia coli bacteria on selective eosin methylene blue agar (EMBA) media. The results of the analysis showed that the total number of bacteria in the cendol samples tested on samples TS1, TS2 and TS3 were 1.2 x 104 colonies respectively; 4.8 x 104 colonies and 6.6 x 104 colonies. The results of the analysis of E. coli bacteria in the three samples showed that the three samples showed the growth of E. coli bacteria in the test medium. Colonies of E. coli bacteria on EMBA media are marked by the growth of metallic green colonies

Abstract

The abundant moringa and lemongrass plants can be used to make Kombucha products. By utilizing Moringa leaves and lemongrass which are fermented by Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast (SCOBY) to become Kombucha. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in the formulation of a mixture of Moringa leaves and lemongrass on the chemical characteristic quality of Total Titrated Acid (TAT), presence of flavonoids, and organoleptic quality. This research is a quantitative research. The results of the study were the TAT value of formulation 1 (0.454%), formulation 2 (0.432%), formulation 3 (0.445%), and control (0.54%). The results of the analysis showed that variations in the formulation of a mixture of moringa leaves and lemon grass had no significant effect on the TAT value of Kombucha with F Count (0.93) F Table 5% (3.10). Flavonoids in Kombucha were tested qualitatively by 3 reagents seen from the color change. At 10% NaOH it showed a yellow brown color, 1% AlCl3 reagent was yellow, and H2SO4 reagent was pale yellow to yellow brown, and all samples showed positive results for the presence of flavonoids. Organoleptic assessment with color results X²r count (6.03) X²r table 1% (6.250), aroma X²r count (11.47) X²r table 5% (7.810), taste X²r count (18.91) X²r table 5 % (7,810). So that the variation in formulation has a significant effect on aroma and taste, but not on the color of Kombucha moringa leaves and lemon grass.

Abstract

Cockatoos are member of the order Psittaciformes. Indonesia have eight endemic species of  Cockatoos including : Black Palm Cockatoo (Probosciger aterrimus), Moluccan Cockatoo (Cacatua moluccensis), Tanimbar Cockatoo (Cacatua goffiniana), White Crested Cockatoo (Cacatua alba), Galerita or Triton Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita), Little Corella Cockatoo (Cacatua sanguinea ), Lesser Cockatoo (Cacatua sulphurea) and Citroon Cockatoo (Cacatua sulphurea citrinocristata). Genetic studies are currently considered an appropriate method for studying species relationships. This research aimed to determine the relationship of endemic Indonesian Cockatoos genus Cacatoa using COI gene in silico. The COI gene sequence for each individual cockatoo was accessed through National Center for Biotechnology (NCBI) data, sequence alignment and phylogenetic tree reconstruction using software mega version 11. The results of the phylogenetic tree reconstruction showed that the Indonesian endemic cockatoogenus Cacatoa were grouped into three clusters. The three clusters were the cluster of C. galerita and C. sulphurea, the cluster of C. goffiniana and C. sanguinea, and the cluster of C. alba and C. moluccensis.

Abstract

Physical damage and post-harvest decay in fruits and vegetables are common issues that can reduce product quality and shelf life. This study aims to understand the decay process and characteristics of spoilage fungi in several types of fruits and vegetables. This descriptive qualitative research used the streak plate isolation method and block square identification. The samples used included salak, grapes, oranges, potatoes, long beans, and cabbage, all of which were fresh and of good quality. Each sample was weighed to 50 gr and placed in a sterile container. Observations of the physical characteristics of the samples were conducted from day 2 to day 8, including identifying the growing spoilage fungi. The results showed the presence of six spoilage fungi coded as JPS1, JPA1, JPJ1, JPK1, JPP1, and JPU1 from each sample. These fungi exhibited varying morphological characteristics based on colony color, spore color, and fungal size. Identification revealed that isolates JPS1, JPA1, JPJ1, and JPU1 belong to the genus Aspergillus sp., isolate JPK1 to the genus Trichocladium sp., and isolate JPP1 to the genus Rhizopus sp.

Abstract

One of the highest clusters of COVID-19 cases in DKI Jakarta is the office cluster, attributed to the lack of compliance among employees with health protocols. The potential transmission to employees' families exacerbates the situation, even leading to temporary workplace closures. An initial survey revealed that 53.3% of employees do not adhere to COVID-19 health protocols in the workplace. This study aims to evaluate the compliance level with health protocols, mask usage, and mask waste management among formal sector workers in DKI Jakarta. The research follows a descriptive method with a cross-sectional design. Data were collected via Google Form from all office workers in DKI Jakarta (n=288) using purposive sampling. Results indicate that 43.8% of workers do not comply with health protocols, 66% do not properly manage used masks, increasing contamination risks, and only 28.5% use N95/KN95/KF94 masks. Companies are urged to enforce surveillance and impose sanctions for policy violations.
