Abstract

The use of antituberculosis drugs isoniazid and pyrazinamide triggers hepatotoxicity. Soursop leaves have a hepatoprotective effect because they contain antioxidant compounds that can help inhibit and prevent oxidative damage to the liver. This study aims to determine the effect of soursop leaf extract on the histopathological appearance of rat liver induced by isoniazid and pyrazinamide. This research is a laboratory experimental research using design posttest only control group design. This study used 24 rats Wistar divided into four groups and given treatment for 14 days. The negative control group was not given soursop leaf extract. The positive control group was given isoniazid and pyrazinamide, the treatment group I was given isoniazid and pyrazinamide and 1 hour later continued with soursop leaf extract 72 mg/day giving soursop leaf extract 144 mg/day. The dose of isoniazid used was 189 mg/day, while the dose of pyrazinamide was 252 mg/day. Termination of rats was carried out on the 15th day to collect rat liver organs. Furthermore, histopathological examination of the rat liver was carried out. The results showed that the rats in the negative control group had normal histopathological features. In the positive control group, there was a picture of hydropic degeneration. The histopathological picture of the rat liver in the treatment group 1 showed a picture of parenchymatous degeneration and in the treatment group 2, the liver cells were normal. Administration of soursop leaf extract affected the histopathological picture of rat liver induced by isoniazid and pyrazinamide.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze and compare the effectiveness of the action of dermapen using plasma from platelets with the movement of dermapen using scar serum on pockmarked areas on the skin surface of female Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus). The results of wound observations based on the period (days) with an average healing time of 10.4 days and 12 days needed by each mouse to close the wound in the PRP dermapen group were faster than the serum scar group. This can be explained by the PRP content containing growth factors important for wound healing and tissue regeneration, thus accelerating healing. Meanwhile, scar serum contains concentrates that are useful for nourishing and moisturizing the skin, which can easily penetrate the deepest layers of the skin, thereby accelerating skin regeneration. Further microscopic studies, such as histopathological studies, are needed to examine the number of fibroblasts.

Abstract

Andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC) is a plant known for its diverse bioactive compounds, including antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. Nano-gel formulations were prepared using appropriate techniques, and their physicochemical properties, including particle size, pH, viscosity, and centrifugation stability, were evaluated. Additionally, organoleptic tests were conducted to assess the sensory characteristics of the nano-gels. Furthermore, an irritation test was performed to ensure the formulation's safety when applied to the skin. The percentage of wound closure was evaluated at various time points, including days 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14, comparing it to a commercially available wound healing product, Bioplacenton. Initial findings showed that the nano gel formulations exhibited favorable physicochemical properties, including appropriate particle size within the nano-scale range. The pH values were within an acceptable range, and the formulations demonstrated suitable viscosity and stability during centrifugation. Organoleptic tests indicated good sensory characteristics, and the irritation test showed the formulation's safety without significant skin irritation. The percentage of wound closure increased over time for all three concentrations (F1: 5%, F2: 10%, F3: 20%). In conclusion, nano gel formulations containing various concentrations of Andaliman extract exhibited good physicochemical properties, favorable sensory characteristics, and safe application on the skin. Moreover, they demonstrated promising wound healing effects, potentially comparable to commercial wound healing agents.
