Abstract

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 marks a transformative shift in India's education system by integrating vocational and skill-based education at all levels. This paper critically examines the implementation, challenges, and potential impacts of vocational education under NEP 2020. The policy aims to bridge the gap between formal education and employability by incorporating practical training, industry partnerships, and skill development programs from an early stage. A key highlight of the policy is the introduction of vocational education from Grade 6 onwards, allowing students to gain hands-on experience through internships and apprenticeships. The paper analyzes how this shift aligns with global best practices and examines its potential to enhance India’s workforce competitiveness. It further explores policy challenges, including teacher training, infrastructure requirements, and integration with mainstream education. Additionally, this study delves into the role of technology, digital learning platforms, and public-private partnerships in ensuring the successful implementation of vocational education. The paper concludes with policy recommendations to strengthen vocational education under NEP 2020, ensuring it meets the dynamic demands of the 21st-century job market while fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among students.

Abstract

In the digital age, developing countries are faced with unique challenges in implementing effective tax policies. Technological developments have facilitated international transactions, but also made tracking and measuring economic activity more complex. Many developing countries still rely on traditional tax systems that are less capable of handling the dynamics of the digital economy. This study examines the effectiveness of various digital tax policies that have been implemented in several developing countries, while evaluating the most successful strategies. The analysis shows that strengthening tax administration capacity and international collaboration are key to reducing tax avoidance and increasing revenue from the digital sector. In addition, the adoption of new technologies, such as big data and artificial intelligence, as well as improving digital literacy among tax officials, are crucial for the successful implementation of tax policies in the digital era. With the right approach, developing countries have great potential to improve the effectiveness of their tax policies and optimally utilise the development of the digital economy.

Abstract

Candlenut plants also known as keminting have various benefits for the Banjar community, especially in the fields of health, economy, and culture. However, its use in the perspective of ethnobotany based on local wisdom has not been widely studied, especially in the pharmacological aspect. This study aims to analyze the use of candlenut plants as natural medicine in Banyu Irang Village, South Kalimantan. The research method was snowball sampling with data collection techniques through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Ethnopharmacologically, various parts of the candlenut plant, such as roots, stems, leaves, and seeds, have long been used in traditional medicine. Candlenut oil is used for hair care and skin health, while the boiled water of the leaves is used to improve digestion and help the body's detoxification process. Local communities still maintain this practice for generations as part of their cultural heritage. In addition to its health benefits, candlenut also has economic potential as a raw material for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and herbal industries. However, its utilization and on-site management are still limited, so efforts are needed to improve cultivation and crop processing innovations to optimize its economic benefits. The results of this study are expected to support efforts to conserve candlenut plants while maintaining the local wisdom values of the Banyu Irang Village community. In addition, further studies on the ethnobotanical aspects and potential commercialisation of candlenut can provide knowledge of its use in people's lives in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Human labor is still widely used by Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia, especially those in the food processing sector, such as the tofu industry. Manual labor can place significant physical and mental demands on workers, especially when the number of workers is not proportional to the demands of the tasks assigned. Excessive workload in these aspects may result in fatigue and decreased productivity. This study aims to assess both physical and mental workloads in the production workstation by identifying workload intensity, including mental and physical aspects experienced by workers. The workloads with the greatest levels will be determined for more research and solutions. Cardiovascular Load (CVL) is used to measure physical workload, and National Aeronautical and Space Administration Task Load Index (NASA-TLX) is used to assess mental workload. These methods have identified varying degrees of physical and mental strain across different job roles. The results show that the cooking and filtering phases are key areas that demand particular focus. Workers in the cooking and filtering areas had respective CVL values of 30.60% and 30.24%, while the mental workloads assessed using the NASA-TLX reached 80.33 and 81.33.
