Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Part and Whole learning model on improving students' self-confidence in floor exercise learning, specifically in the backward roll technique. The main issue addressed is the low self-confidence of students, particularly female students, in performing floor exercise movements, which hinders the effectiveness of physical education learning. This research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a one-group pretest-posttest design. The participant consisted of 40 students from class VII C of SMP Negeri 4 Karawang Barat, selected using purposive sampling. The research instrument was a self-confidence questionnaire covering four main dimensions: self-belief, perseverance, hope, and social relationships. The results showed an increase in the average self-confidence score from 128.70 in the pretest to 136.90 in the posttest. Data analysis using the paired sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest results. Abstract

This research aims to examine the role of regular physical activity in improving physical fitness and cardiovascular health among Sports Science students in 2025 using the Indonesian Physical Fitness Test (TKJI) 1200-meter run as a measurement instrument. This study employed a descriptive method with a quantitative approach conducted at the UNSIKA football field. Sixteen students participated as research samples. The measurement results showed that eight students were in the “Very Poor” category, six students in the “Poor” category, one student in the “Fair” category, and one student in the “Good” category. These findings illustrate that most students still have a low level of cardiorespiratory fitness. This study emphasizes the importance of regular physical activity such as aerobic exercise to increase VO₂ max capacity, improve heart efficiency, and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. The findings are expected to serve as a basis for developing physical fitness programs for students and the general public.

Abstract

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of racket grip strength and motion anticipation on the effectiveness of spin serves among junior tennis athletes in Makassar. Using a quantitative correlational design, 20 athletes aged 14–18 years participated. Grip strength was measured with a handgrip dynamometer, motion anticipation with a visual reaction test, and spin serve effectiveness through video analysis of accuracy, direction, and bounce. Multiple regression analysis (α = 0.05) showed that both variables significantly affected spin serve effectiveness (R² = 0.551; p < 0.05). Grip strength had a greater contribution (β = 0.46; p = 0.008) than motion anticipation (β = 0.39; p = 0.018). The findings highlight the importance of integrating physical and cognitive training to enhance spin serve performance in junior tennis athletes. Strength and anticipation training should be combined to optimize serve outcomes

Abstract

This study investigated the effect of aerobic dance frequency and duration on cardiorespiratory fitness in adolescent girls in Makassar. Using a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test control design, 40 girls aged 17–22 were divided into experimental and control groups (n=20 each). The experimental group performed aerobic dance three times per week for 45–60 minutes over eight weeks, while the control group continued routine activities. Cardiorespiratory fitness was measured using the 12-minute Cooper Test. Data analysis included normality, homogeneity, paired t-tests, and independent t-tests. Results indicated a significant VO₂max improvement in the experimental group (Δ mean = +4.70; p < 0.001) compared to no significant change in the control group (Δ mean = -0.35; p > 0.05). The post-test difference between groups was also significant (t = -3.756; p < 0.001). Regular aerobic dance effectively enhances cardiorespiratory fitness in adolescent girls.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the physical condition of male Kurash athletes in Makassar City based on two key physiological indicators: VO₂max and leg strength. A total of 15 athletes participated in the assessment, with data collected using the Multistage Fitness Test to estimate aerobic capacity and a leg dynamometer to measure lower-limb strength. The results were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including range, minimum, maximum, sum, and standard deviation. The findings showed that VO₂max values ranged from 39.9 to 45.2 ml/kg/min (SD = 1.63), while leg strength ranged from 120 to 145 kg (SD = 6.38). Classification analysis indicated that aerobic capacity varied more widely across athletes compared to leg strength, which tended to cluster in the moderate-to-high categories. These results suggest that individualized conditioning—particularly focused on improving aerobic fitness in lower-performing athletes—would be beneficial. Strength levels were relatively stable but still warranted targeted development for some athletes. The study recommends integrating high-intensity interval training and progressive strength programming to enhance overall performance, supported by contemporary evidence in combat sports conditioning.
